Slate's POV----
I looked back down the stairs searching for the woman who smelled like cedar and honeysuckle.
"We have to keep our distance for awhile until we can get them alone to explain to them what is happening," Minerva whispered beside me.
I glanced at her to see a smile plastered on her face but eyes searching for her mate. I took another look across the bottom floor when I caught the eye of a beautiful human. She had blonde hair and piercing green eyes. She had a simple lavender dress that hugged all of her curves just right. "Mate," said Erebus.
I bumped Minerva and nodded towards the woman when she tightened her grip on my arm. I followed her eyes to the man standing beside my mate. Twins. He to had blonde hair and green eyes. Both human.
Why would she pair us with humans? I wondered as we made it to the bottom floor. As some Alpha's here already approached us for a moment before moving into the dining area.
As Alpha Zane moved towards I noticed the twins following.
"Good evening Alpha Zane, how are you?" Minerva asked smiling at the man. I watched the twins look at us with interest.
"Very well Alpha Minerva and Alpha Slate. These are friends of mine, Kate and Jason. They do know everything of our kind as they were adopted by my parents at a very young age," he said smiling.
"That's lovely of your parents to do such a thing. Kate, Jason it's a pleasure to meet you both," I said to them offering my hand to Jason.
"The pleasure is ours, Alpha Minerva, it is a beautiful packhouse you have here," Jason said with a tight smile.
"Thank you, not to be rude but we have other alphas to meet with. Hopefully we can speak later," she replied.
Zane spoke then, "Of course Alpha. If you do not mind us speaking later, I have some things I would like to speak to you about."
"Of course Alpha Zane."
With that Zane and the twins left us to greet other Alphas. For the next hour we played the parts as hosts when Minerva points out a very interesting problem.
"Did you notice Thomas hasn't shown up yet?"
"Yes and it only makes me wonder how far our men has gotten with the plan."
"I'm not sure but its 5pm and still daylight, so I'm sure they're just watching and going over everything."
With that she stepped back inside and I followed. We reached the dining room doors when I got the link.
"Alpha. He's moving the girl. Do we need to follow?"
"Yes but stay alert. This could be a trap."
"Yes Alpha," was the reply.
"Minerva we have a problem."

Minerva POV----
I looked back towards the bottom floor looking for my mate. The smell of an apple pie was strong and I couldn't help but feel excited that he matched my favorite desert.
As I looked I caught the eye of a very handsome, blonde haired, green eyed human. That's when Alectrona confirmed he was my mate.
"Why would the twins be human?" I asked her.
"I'm not sure dear but lets get down there."
We made our way down towards the bottom. I could tell the woman beside him was a sister if not his twin which means she was Slate's mate.
We spoke to the alphas sending them towards the dining area when Alpha Zane was the one who introduced us to Kate and Jason. What interested me the most is not that they were human, but why Zane's parents adopted this particular set of twins.
I tried to be nice in dismissing him so we could continue to great other alphas when I started getting a nagging feeling.
Thomas hadn't shown up and I really thought he'd been here by now. I know we have a mole but I didn't think we let anything of the plan be known.
When I asked if Slate noticed and he did, I could only think the worst that we've been made. I was trying to flip through any conversations that could have given us up and came up with nothing.
"Maybe he's just paranoid and so are you," Alec said.
"Maybe so but something doesn't feel right."
"I know but I'll keep an ear out."
Alectrona slipped back into my mind when I felt Slate stiffen beside me.
"Minerva. We have a problem."
A/N:
I want to apologize to those couple I have reading my story. Reality hit hard the last couple months and I've put this to the back burner.
Things have easied up some so I'm hoping to put more focus on the story. Once again I apologize for being so terrible with updating.
Thanks for understanding,
