CHAPTER 4:
Adrian was on his way home from the office. He suddenly remembered the young lady that was almost hit yesterday as they reached the intersection. A slight smile ran across his face.
"Benjamin"
"Yes sir"
"Did you enquire about the lady we met yesterday??"
"Who? Ooh yes....... I mean no" Benjamin answered as he recalled incident with the lady from the previous day
"And why is that?"
"I'm sorry sir, I will look into her as soon as possible"
"You better do so and I will not tolerate any excuses next time"
"Yes sir" Benjamin said as he parked the car at the parking lot of the Blackwood mansion.
Benjamin hurried out of the car and opened the car door as Adrian stepped out.
"What is the update on the documents I asked you to prepare?"
"I'm almost done with it sir, it just needs to be reviewed' Benjamin answered as he walked Adrian to the elevator.
"Okay good, I need them ready in my office tomorrow morning. Have a great night" Adrian said as he stepped into his mansion closing the doors behind him.
"You too sir" Benjamin left. He had worked as Adrian's personal assistant and driver for six years now. And it definitely was not easy working with someone of Adrian's personality but he has gotten familiar with it through the years
Adrian fell on his bed as soon as he entered his room.
"Finally some peace" he said heaving a sigh of relief.
His phone rang. It was his mother Mrs Olivia Blackwood calling. He picked up.
"Adrian, I have arranged dinner tomorrow with the Walker family. Their daughter is very lovely"
"Cancel it"
"Don't be like that this time, Adrian. I have arranged the dinner and you must be there besides their daughter is very beautiful. You can get the opportunity to know her better"
"I'm not interested mom besides I'm very busy with work"
"I already checked your schedule for tomorrow and you'll be free in the evening. You never go to any blind dates arranged for you so you should come to this one"
"Mom please. I have matters outside of work to attend to"
"Adrian I'm not getting any younger neither are you, you are thirty two now. You can't keep avoiding marriage forever"
"Well watch me" Adrian said as he hung up the call.
Adrian had no interest in love or marriage whatsoever but his parents keep setting him up on blind mates and match making putting a lot of pressure on him to get married.
It was yet another day. Sophia woke up from sleep. She have not gotten any feedback from all of her job applications. With Daniel's tuition fee still waiting to be paid.
"Another day to idle around" she said stretching as she got out of bed.
She got dressed and hurried out yet again with no particular destination in mind.
Walking down the street with lots of thoughts running across her mind. She knew she should not be doing this everyday but she did not know what else to do. It has been two weeks since she applied for jobs but have not gotten any feedback yet.
Then suddenly a thought came to her mind.
"Part time jobs" she thought smiling
"I mean I could work at a restaurant or a Cafe" she said aloud.
She took out her phone searching for nearby famous restaurants that are hiring workers.
She found one "Empire foods". They were currently hiring waitresses, she quickly applied hoping to get a positive feedback from them.

Adrian was sitting in his well furnished office. There was a knock on the door. Benjamin entered.
Sir I have some documents that you need to review.
"Okay let me have a look" Adrian said extending his hands
"Here"
"Wow this looks good" Adrian said as he flipped from page to page.
"And sir I have information about the lady that almost got hit by our car that night"
"Alright, go on"
"Her name is Sophia Carter and she worked at Morgan and Hayes company until recently"
"She got fired??"
"Yes sir"
"Wow interesting, any information about her address, where she lives??"
"No sir"
"Alright, contact the Morgan and Hayes company. I need some more information about that lady. Better still if I can get her address"
"Okay sir. I'll get to that as soon as I can"
"Good, you can leave" Adrian said gesturing towards the door.

It was the weekend. Sophia was in her room. There was a knock on the door. Grandma walked in.
"My angel" grandma said as she walked up to her bed. "Is everything alright with you??"
"Yes grandma I'm fine"
"Are you sure baby?, you don't look fine to me for like three weeks now"
Tears welled up in Sophia's eyes ready to pour down any second. "Grandma" she said contemplating whether to tell her or not
"You can talk to me baby, you know I will always understand"
"I lost my job" she said as tears poured freely down her cheeks
"Ooh baby that's not the end of the world, you will come by new and better opportunities"
"Alright grandma"
"Loosing your job is not a reason to be sad my dear. I believe everything will be fine"
"I hope so grandma, thank you"
"It's fine baby, stop crying. Come and have dinner. I prepared one of your favorites" Grandma said as she left the room
Sophia smiled. "I'm coming grandma".
Just then she got a message on her phone. Opening the message, she screamed out of joy. Finally, she got the job at the restaurant.
Grandma rushed in
"What's the matter my dear? I heard you scream" Grandma said wondering what had happened
"I applied for a job in a restaurant and I got the job" she said out of excitement
"Well that's great news baby, I'm so happy for you" Grandma said as she gave her a warm hug.
"Thank you Grandma. The pay is not as much as my previous job but it's better than just staying jobless"
"I know my dear. This is great news" Grandma said smiling.
"So I will go to the restaurant tomorrow morning for a brief interview and then boom..... I have a job" Sophia said beaming with joy.
"Well baby that calls for celebration"
"Yes grandma of course. Let's go and have dinner. I'm very hungry" Sophia said as she walked towards the dinning area.
