Chapter 1
Sara's POV "Look who decided to be here, one of Massachusetts finest lady." A feminine voice commented. I turned around to see my only friend; Dora walk up to me elegantly, I smiled widely as I gave her a warm hug. "Dora, you look astonishingly beautiful." I complimented, holding her hands as she twirled gracefully. She blushed and leaned in to whisper in my ears. "Lucas picked out the dress on my behalf, he couldn't take his eyes or hands off me and I only escaped because I saw you from afar." She whispered. I chuckled softly while she giggled. Lucas was her mate and the two love each other to a fault. Almost immediately, Lucas walked up to us, evidently feeling his mate's short absence. "Sara, what a surprise to see you here, you look beautiful as usual tonight, I'm sorry to interrupt your little reunion but I'll have to steal Dora away from you for a minute." Lucas uttered. I nodded my head, Dora and I were best of friends but she lived in Tennessee which was three hours by plane to Massachusetts where I live and work but this wasn't an hindrance to our friendship. "By all means, please do." I consented. Dora giggled as her mate stole her away and I was left alone, I needed her company since we met once in a while and occasions such as todays' brought us together. I grabbed a glass of champagne and began to wonder why the alpha didn't have his mate yet. I was at a party which was more of a mating ceremony for the prestigious alpha of the Azure moon pack I belonged to and werewolves flew in from all parts of the world to be there since it was huge. As I gingered sipped the champagne linking the common factor between I and the alpha; we were both adult and still without a mate, an heavenly scent invade the sensors of my nostrils making them tingle with excitement. The smell of mixed spices, the aftermath of a peaceful rain and freshly cut grass was something I never thought could be alluring out together but made my wolf howl happily in my head. I straightened up as Flurry; my wolf became active, our mate was near. My body ached towards a direction and I paved a path among the crowd to follow the scent, causing me to bump into someone. I lifted my head to see who it was that made Fairygoes crazy with excitement and moved two steps backwards instinctively as I looked at him. Taking a moment to take in his emerald green alluring eyes, well chiseled nose and perfectly moulded face, excitement coursed through my veins. 'Mate!' Fairygrowled. From the look on his face, I could tell he was also aware of the bond and a smile graced my face almost instantly, my years of yearning and doubts of being cursed to be lonely was over, I had not only found my mate but it was the alpha himself. "Alpha Kiel." I muttered, his name tasting delicious on my lips. "An omega?" He questioned. Shyly, I looked away from his eyes, staring at my legs and mentally scolding myself for not putting in more efforts to dress properly. "Mate." I could hear him repeat to himself. "What is your name?" He asked, rather calmly. I found myself attractive to him voice which sounded musical to my hearing. "Sara, Sara Williams." I answered, enthusiastically. "Alpha Kiel, it is an honor to-" "Who do you think you are?" He snapped, cutting me short. "What are you-" "I, Alpha Kiel of the Azure moon pack reject you Sara Williams as my mate." He declared, loudly. The music suddenly stopped and I felt nothing for a second, two seconds, then three. The next moment I felt an excruciating pain pierce through my heart, a sharp sound slashing through my head and making it spin. My breathing hitched and I found it hard to say a word, Fairywhimpered loud enough to drive me crazy, I felt my vision blur and I was rooted to a spot, I heard absolutely nothing but the sound of life seeping away from me. "What?" I managed to ask. I could have sworn for a minute that I saw a hint of pain flash through his eyes, something did add up, he was in pain as well but carefully masked it. I managed to take a step forward, holding out my hand and then a lady suddenly stepped forward and stood beside him, I looked up at her and saw she was oddly familiar. "Lillian." I hissed. "What's this?" She snapped, demanding an answer from Kiel. "Leave." Kiel ordered me, ruthlessly. Without waiting for a response he turned to leave but I suddenly gained some strength and tried to grab Lillian's cloth to get his attention but the fabrics were soft and it tore as I touched it, Lillian gasped and Kiel realizing what had just happened came up to me with a darkened and ugly expression. "Kiel, I-" Pah! My explanation was interrupted by a slap. I didn't feel the sting but the shattering effect that my mate had slapped me while Lillian stood defiantly beside him, smirking at me. "Kiel." I whispered, tears rolling down my cheeks. "You got what you deserved." Lilian spat bitterly. "You little wench!" I cussed, hurt and bitter. Infuriated, Kiel raised his hands and I closed my eyes awaiting the worse. "Don't you dare lay another finger on my mate!" A terrifying baritone voice growled. My eyes instantly flew open and all heads turned towards the direction the voice emanated from. I watched as the most handsome Adonis I've ever seen walked up to us with an ugly expression on his face, his composure and aura compelling everyone to swallow their own Saliva in fear. I saw from the corner of my eyes, Kiel retreat. Fairygrowled once more but not in pain. 'Mate!' Fairyannounced.
