Chapter Eighteen

1480 Words
Three weeks had passed. During those three weeks, I had locked myself into my room and spoke to no one. On week one, I refused to eat. I was paranoid. There's no telling what they could've put in the food. The staff would knock on the door and tell me that my breakfast was there but I wouldn't answer. They would leave the plate at the door and it would stay there untouched until dinner. When dinner came they would sigh at the door at the sight of the untouched breakfast and replace it with dinner only for it to remain there. On week two, I began to eat. I was getting too hungry and weak to avoid the food. I would wait until no one was at the door before cracking it and grabbing the plate. Once I was finished, I would slide the empty tray back outside the door and stay away. Noah spent plenty of time knocking on the door only to get no reply. The last time Noah showed up was the first day of the third week. He knocked and asked me to come out once again only for Henry to mumble that I needed space.  He never returned.  I groaned as another knock sounded at the door. Sighing heavily, I turned over on my side while throwing the cover on my head.  "Her Majesty," I heard a soft voice call. It was the the voice of the same maid who had defended me in the kitchen that day, "I've bought you breakfast! I'm going to leave it here for you!"  I could hear her place the tray onto the ground.  "Her Majesty, I know you feel alone right now. I don't blame you for pushing everyone away. I just want you to know that not everyone here hates you because I'm one of those people! I think you're something different and that's something that we need! I just want you to know that if you need anything then I am here for you!" She said.  I listened to her closely and sighed heavily as I could hear her chuckle a bit, "Sometimes even a Queen needs a shoulder to lean on,"  I tossed the covers back as I could hear her footsteps trailing up the hall. I slammed the door open causing her to turn around with wide eyes. She stared at me in shock as I peeped out, "What is your name?"  "Marie, your majesty!" She said with a curtsy. I pulled the door back signaling her to come in. I walked into the room as she followed behind me quietly. She picked up the tray and closed the door behind her. I sat at the small table in my room as she sat the tray on the table and took a seat at the table in front of me.  "Thank you for your kind words. I needed to hear it from someone genuine!" I started as she nodded.  "Of course!"  "I heard everything in the kitchen. I was standing outside the door while everyone talked about me as if I was nothing!" I revealed as I ate the eggs.  "I'm sorry that you had to hear that, your majesty!" Marie apologized.  "You do not have to be so formal!" I announced with a small giggle, "Call me Ororo!"  "I couldn't possibly do such thing! It goes against the rules!"  "f**k the rules!" I exclaimed while throwing my hands up, "The King doesn't even follow rules of having a mate so who cares about any of the rules that he's created!"  Marie laughed loudly, "I'm sorry!" "I don't know why he act the way he does," I mumbled.  Marie sighed, "King Noah had a terrible upbringing mainly because he was alone majority of the time,"  "What do you mean?"  "King Noah is what we call a Lycan and he's the only one to exist!" She revealed, "It's weird because neither his mom or dad were Lycans which means that he had to have bitten by another Lycan but no one knows who it was! How it was discovered that he was a Lycan was the craziest part about it. He was smart. He is smarter than your average wolf. When he was 7, he was already learning how to divide and multiply. He was shielded and protected because his mom and dad were the King and Queen so he spent majority of his childhood behind the walls of the palace learning everything he knows today! The day everyone found out that Noah was a Lycan was on June 11th, 1942 when he was only 8. It was the night of a full moon which is the night that every werewolf would have their transformation or shift. Noah was the only one who didn't shift that night. The King was livid and The Queen was worried. King James distanced himself from Noah after that. He didn't even treat the child like his son and it was so heartbreaking to watch," She said.  I'll admit... I felt a little bad.  "Queen Victoria never distanced herself or treated Noah like he was anything other than her son. She loved and protected him until the day she died. On July 7th of the same year, Noah shifted. It was obvious what he was though. Noah's wolf was much more muscular compared to all of the other wolves. The fur of his wolf is as dark as midnight but the eyes shine as bright as the moon that he yearns for. On his 17th birthday, The King decided to test Noah. He took him to the dungeons which was filled with silver. It did not effect Noah at all proving that he was indeed a Lycan! The King passed away leaving only Noah and The Queen. Noah stepped up as King and a few years later Queen Victoria died of illness. In 1959, when he was only 25, Noah went out to fight in a war against rogues. He was brutally attacked and almost murdered. There is only one way to kill a lycan and that is by severing the spine from its body. He was beaten, trapped, and weak due to the amount of time that he spent locked up. Before the rogues could sever his spine, vampires showed up to the scene and killed any rogues remaining. To save Noah, he has to drink the blood of the vamp which gave him immortality. Once he returned, he was no longer known as King Noah. He adopted a new name and that was The Immortal King!" She revealed.  "Wow," I whispered.  "But we noticed something about him after he returned. Due to the pain and torture those rogues caused, it snapped something in him. He didn't care for anyone. He treated everyone in his kingdom with respect because he was the king but as to anyone else? They didn't stand a chance. We saw less of his human side and more of his wolf side, the murders were brutal, the gates to the palace were closed, and he slept around with multiple women. He didn't stop until..." She trailed off.  "Naomi," I finished. Marie nodded, "After he met Naomi, he cut his ties off with all of the women he slept with and she became his queen, his only one, and his chosen one! Everyone thought he didn't have a mate so it was expected that those two would get married until you!"  "Me?" "The moment he saw you on the television was the moment something inside snapped. He made it clear that he would be going to America and he did! When it was announced that Noah had found his mate, everyone was shocked yet excited! The excitement left though when everyone discovered that you weren't wolf at all! However, there are still a huge amount of people who support you! You're a breath of fresh air, Ororo! I've been around for a long time now and you have snapped something inside of Noah! He opens the gates more often and we see more of his human side now!"  "That's nice I guess," I said with a shrug. Marie sighed before placing a small sad smile on her face. She gave my hand a little tap before standing up from the table. I watched as she grabbed my now empty tray and prepared to walk out of the room.  She placed her hand on the doorknob and turned around, "Thank you for not changing. Thank you for being that light that was needed. Keep your head high!"  "I will," I whispered. Marie smiled one last time before stepping out of the room closing the door softly behind her. I listened to her footsteps fade away from the door as I was left alone to think about what she had just said.  I was the light.  I was needed.
