Two days later:
Prince Holland had dragged prince Joshua,Brian and Lance to god knows where right after the breakfast and prince Jack was busy tending to some documents and gaining as much information as he could from the guards.
Princess Amelia sat in her room overthinking everything. She grew even more frustrated by the second as she couldn't understand what on earth the dream meant. After one final try she gave up with a frustrated sigh and stood up to stretch before walking out of the room.
Prince Levi had mentioned something about a library and she knew that's where she needed to be in order to battle her boredom with wisdom.
The only issue with that plan was that she had no idea where the library was! She heaved another sigh before walking over to the balcony. The warm wind brushed against her skin with a feathery touch and ran through her hair like fingers would.
She took a deep breath and stared at the sky. The thing that she found weird was the lack of animals and their offset routine. Instead of humming and singing during the day the birds sang at night and instead of croaking in the night the insects croaked during the day.
But she guessed that was just the way things were in this part of the planet. Deciding not to let her brain overwork itself she leaned on the railing . The woods before her swayed with the wind, the sun making the leaves glimmer.
The land of Phoenix was known for so many things, amongst them were:
It's past.
The all year round orange and red leaves
No flowers
The crystalline water
And the poisoned lake
She wondered where the poisoned lake was, it was known for being hidden and the way it earned the name was memorial.
The then king of the land of Phoenix was a cruel and close minded leader. In his reign it was kill or be killed, use or be used and be a slave or buy a slave. At that time all the other kingdoms had charged against this land. It was considered cursed as every new born to ever breath here was taken away to be risen and sold as the king pleased.
No one had a life of their own and no one had the freedom to think or speak. Those who dared to defy him were brutally murdered in public, there was so much blood shed that the hidden Phoenix. The reason for the lands name had shown itself.
One day the king was out on a voyage to buy himself some new slaves when his carriage was attacked. The horses and the horsemen vanished, the guards disappeared and the kings carriage lay on the ground. It had happened so fast that he didn't even register it until he realized that they weren't moving anymore.
Growing furious by this he stepped out of his carriage to give the horsemen a piece of his mind but he found himself alone in the middle of the woods. With no where to go and nowhere to hide.
He was trapped there in search of water for days till he came across the poisoned lake where a small beautifully sculptured light approached him. It floated in the air as if it weighed nothings and it's form was that of a small bird. The king immediately thought of all fame he could get if he could get the bird back home with himself so with that thought in mind he cooed at the creature until it came forward.
His hand immediately snatched the creature form the air and held it close to examine it. It's once bright light began to fade and it took the king a little too long to realize that he was hurting the creature.
A shadow filled the sky and as he turned around his eyes nearly fell out of their sockets, a bigger and more clearer version of the creature in his hand was flying above him. The fire in its eyes directed at the monster holding its vulnerable baby, the mother of the creature let out a deafening cry. One that had never been heard before and frightened the king enough to let the creature go. The creature let out a wail as it slipped from the kings hand and fell in the lake.
The mother let out another shriek as the king quickly swept down to search for the creature. His hand found it with its lights dimmed and it's weight more than it had been before. As a peace offering the king had risen the creature towards the sky and the mother who later became known as Phoenix vanished with her baby in hand.
Sighing in relief the king cursed the creature and bent down to drink the water. It tasted awfully sweet but he needed it to live on so ignoring all logic he continued taking deeper and bigger sips of the Crystal water.
After he finished drinking to his hearts content he sat back against the tree and shut his eyes unknown to him, which were to remain shut for the rest of eternity.
The princess came back to reality as her eyes spotted the fence placed in the middle of the forest. It clearly meant that the mansion spread till that far away, she felt an over whelming urge to explore that area but considered it best to settle down for a while.
Her eyes continued to sweep the orange trees and red bushes beneath her until they landed on a weird box shaped cabin. It was in the same land as the mansion so she knew exploring it won't mean breaking any rules. Giving in to her desire she exited her room, mentally reminding herself of the location of the cabin over and over again.
She found the main door to the mansion and pulling it open with great difficulty she exited. The sun was up but the temperature was still low, the breeze was now warm with a slight tint of cold. How such a drastic change in her surroundings occurred the princess had no idea but she wasn't one to ponder over things only to hit a dead end so she let it go.
She avoided the guards whenever one of them came into view and quickly but carefully made her way towards the back of the mansion. She made sure she was in the right path by turning around in search of her room and when she found it her mission was set straight.
All she had to do was walk in one direction and then check the weird box shaped cabin like structure out. As she walked forward several chirping insects showed themselves. The grasshoppers and fireflies would occasionally unknown to the princess turn around and glance at her before spreading the message of her presence.
However, before their message could reach their leader the princess had already reached the cabin. The only problem was a wall stood between them. With ease the princess lifted herself onto the wall and jumped down landing on the brown grass with grace due to all the practice she had whenever she escaped the castle.
She had failed to notice the presence of the raven haired prince that sat under the wall with earphones dug into his ears so no other sound could reach him. The princess nearly screamed when she turned around and spotted him.
"Prince Claud?"
She called out but when no reply came she grew worried.
"Your highness."
Every passing moment of silence made her regret coming there, what if she had just stumbled upon the princes dead body? She would be the one that everyone would doubt.
She hesitated before moving towards him with a reluctant hitch in her step she placed her hand on his shoulder his eyes immediately shooting open as she pulled back in shock. Seeing that he was alive and normal she released a sigh.
The prince narrowed his eyes at the princess before him but soon found them going back to normal as she stared at him confused.
"Are you Alright your highness?"
"Yes."
He kept it short and simple not wanting to speak more than necessary. Though he couldn't help but wonder how the princess had found this place. It was there fourth day here and she had already stumbled upon the place he was going to name as his personnel sanctuary and he never liked his personal space being interrupted.
From the looks of it the princess just come here for the cabin as she had turned towards the overgrown greenhouse with fascination.
"They're green."
She finally spoke up making him nod.
"But all the other plants on this land are orange."
"They were grown specially to see why the plants turned orange, most link it to the past but no one is sure. As you can see some parts of them are already starting to turn orange meaning that either it's something in the soil or some form of witchcraft."
The princess turned around gazing at the prince with curiosity before glancing at the empty spot beside him. Getting the message the prince tapped the place beside himself allowing the princess to sit down.
"How do you know that much about it?"
Because I can talk to animals.
"It's something I acquired from my friends."
Animal friends
Thinking of them just made him realize that they hadn't reported her presence. Right on cue, a buzz was heard by them and he knew what the insect sitting on the orange plant beside him had said.
"It's amazing though isn't it?"
She questioned making the prince nod and with reluctance, he paused the music he was listening too.
"I wish I could talk to them."
"Who?"
He questioned curiously.
"The animals, I want to know why they have changed their routine to this one."
The prince stared at her astonished. The coincidence was real, here she was wishing to be able to talk to animals while right beside her sat the guy who could actually communicate with them.
"I- and you would like that?"
"Absolutely, animals are beautiful, every single one of them in their own way. They have been created to perfection to look the same but be really different from one another. Sometimes I just wonder what they would say to me if they heard any of my rambles. I'm pretty sure the royal dog would laugh his head off."
The prince found himself chuckling at the princesses words and was shocked to find himself liking her presence.
