Ah, yes. The fresh air of the world above. The birds singing in melodies unfamiliar to the underworld. The grass swaying to the sounds of the wind. The bushes and trees that rustle with the beautiful creatures of this world.
"Are you done daddling with the above world? I'd really like to close the damn window now." Lance said who sat just across Blythe.
And then there's this moron, ruining my breathtaking princess moment. Let me get this straight, WE ARE NOT ENGAGED! This moron decided to mess up my head at the castle due to some circumstances after we chitchat on the old building.
A day before the present..
"Papa!" Blythe ran towards her father who sat in the throne with a problematic face.
"Please don't tell me you're gonna marry me off!"
"Manners, Blythe." The queen disciplined her.
"Ma.. I can't be married off. I'm still seventeen. And I haven't even tried to actually fall in love yet." Blythe begged the demon king and queen.
"Then, can I propose something?" Lance said as he neared them.
"If I can make Blythe fall in love with me, the demon king and queen will not interfere and allow us to marry." Lance said glaring at both of them who were shocked and the king filled with confused rage.
"What's the matter, your highness? Isn't it fine as long as Blythe agrees to it? Or were you just protecting your race on the throne instead of your own daughter." Lance added.
Blythe looked confused as the room became more tense than before with silence upon everybody's shoulders.
---
In the end, my parents accepted his deal and just told me in secret to stay away from this guy when I get back to the Academy. Unfortunately, I think that would not be the case.
Blythe closed the window curtains and sat far across Lance who noticed how she nervously fidget her fingers. He smirked and coughed to cover it up then looked at her seriously.
Blythe continued to fidget her fingers as she looked away from Lance who was teasingly looking at her.
"Princess, come sit beside me." He said, gesturing his hand to sit beside him.
"N-no." Blythe refused.
"What's the matter? Are you scared I might do something to you?" He teased even more.
"Of course not!" she said looking his way but immediately turned around.
"T-The window feels much better here."
What kind of lame excuse was that!? Gods of this world, please, I beg you, save me!
She thought to herself. Lance stood up from where he sat and tranferred right beside Blythe whose already sweating from being so nervous with just the two of them in the small space, let alone sitting beside each other.
Lance giggled to himself because of how flustered Blythe was. He leaned towards her holding her chin at him that Blythe may not look away.
This-- I-- It's okay, Blythe. It's okay. Besides, at least your first kiss would be with a devilishly handsome guy, right? A-At least you can be proud when telling the story of your first kiss to your grandkids right? ddkdmckdkdmsmdnsjsje
Lance burst out of laughter, transferring back to his seat.
What the heck was that!? Why did he tease me like that!? My hormones almost got the best of me, o god, that was so embarrassing! Clear my mind! Clear my mind!
Blythe started humming a tone by herself that shocked Lance.
"How do you know that tune?" Lance asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"Shut up. I'm not answering you. bleh" Blythe said turning her back and continued humming her calm hymn.
Could it be? Does she remember now?
Lance held her shoulders that made her look at him in the eyes.
"What? I-I just know it somehow, okay? N-Now, get off me." She said brushing him off.
Who am I kidding? Her memories were erased..It's not possible that she regained them.
He thought to himself looking at her was who was still humming the tune.

Blythe and Kendra roamed the library as if looking for something they both decided to find. They both search up and down the library until they meet at a certain spot
"Found it yet?" Blythe asked.
"No luck." Kendra replied.
"Let's keep searching." Blythe said, making Kendra nod.
The search went on for quite a while until they heard footsteps coming in the library which made then both look.
"Yo, what're you guys up to?" Kenny asked waving his hand to both of them.
"Looking for something." Kendra said.
"Mind if I help?" Kenny proposed.
"I don-"
"Sure! The more people the greater chance it is for us finding it, right Kendra?" Blythe said giving Kendra a wide smile.
"R-Right." Kendra said hesitantly.
"So, what are we looking for?" Kenny asked them both with a smile up his face like he wanted his smile to shines brighter than usual that made Kendra scoff.
"A box with the school logo sealed on its side." Blythe described as she turned her back from the twins to look for the item they were searching for.
"What're you doing here, brother?" Kendra said raising her eyebrows.
"Well, I didn't get to see Blythe throughout the party last time so I wanted to make sure she's safe."
"Well, she's safe. So, you can go back to messing around with your chicks back at the school yard now." Kendra told off her twin.
"Easy, sis. I'm not gonna hurt her." He placed his palm on his sister's head.
"I'm just helping you guys out, okay?" He said, giving a very suspicious smile on his face aa he walked away from his sister.
The library was a very big space filled with shelves of books and scrolls, along with unarranged boxes on the first and second floor.
After a while, footsteps again was heard coming in the library that made the three of them look. It was Duke.
"Duke?" Kenny asked.
"Duke! What're you doing here?" Blythe said waving at the red haired Duke.
"Y-you said I could come by anytime." Duke said placing his hand behind his neck.
"You guys seem busy, am I disturbing?"
"Ye-" the twins chorus.
"Not at all! In fact, we need your help with finding something. Do you mind?"
"I don't mind at all. What are we looking for?" Duke said, welcoming himself.
"A box with the school logo sealed at the side." Blythe said, turning her back on everyone. Leaving the twins to glare at Duke who was smiling warmly at Blythe's back before noticing them.
"W-what?" Duke asked them.
"Nothing." they both said, as they returned to look for the box.
After a while, new footsteps were heard entering the library.
"Yo, Voci- huh?" Taka welcomed himself still wearing his soccer uniform as he noticed Duke and Kenny.
"Yo, Duke. Kenny." Taka greeted and did a bro-handshake with Duke.
"You guys still looking for it?" He asked Blythe.
"Yeah. We still can't find it." Blythe said disappointed. Taka reached out to pat her head that shocked everyone in the room.
"Hey, no worries. I'm here to look with you guys, okay?" he said giving her a big smile that made everyone else suspicious.
"Thanks, Taka." Blythe said as they all scattered to find the box.
Just how many rivals do I have!?
The twins thought in chorus while rumaging through some scrolls.
After quite some time passed, Duke looked through a bunch of piled up books on one corner and noticed the school logo sticking out. He removed the books that covered it and found a box with the school logo sealed on both sides.
"Guys.. I think I found it." Duke said making everyone go near him.
They placed in the table of the library as they anticipated opening it when they heard footsteps going inside the library.
"Lance too!?" Kenny yelled out making everyone look at him.
Lance lifted up the book he was holding that made Kendra jump.
"Shut up, big bro. He's just returning a book." Kendra whispered to her brother.
"Right this way." Kendra said looking at Blythe.
"Sup Duke. Taka. Kenny." Lance greeted.
"Yo." Kenny greeted.
"Hey." Taka greeted.
"Hn." Duke nodded.
"Don't open the box yet, pleasee." Kendra begged her that made Blythe giggle.
"I won't!" Blythe said, sneering at Lance who glanced at her.
"What are you guys doing?" Lance asked in curiosity.
"We found a note in one of the books the other day about the past history before history but its contents were very old and looked a little burnt so we couldn't make up of the words in it but at the very end, it had a note that said 'Find the picture book in a box with a seal of this place. There you will know, the past history before history, and the warning you must remember to survive the next coming' or so what the note said. It got us curious and decided to look for it today." Kendra seen the shock on Lance's face as if a ghost had passed by him.
"Are you.. okay?" Kendra asked.
"Y-Yeah. Do you mind if I look with you guys?" He asked politely.
geh. Another one!? But it isn't like his intention is to get close to Blythe. Maybe he's just curious, too.
"Sure. But you sit beside Duke."
Kendra finished the book record and ran towards Blythe who smiled at her return while glaring at Lance who seemed to have joined them.
"Now..." Blythe opened as everyone watched seriously at what the box possessed. To their surprise it was a children's book. A very old one to be precised.
"What? A children's book? You gotta be kidding me!" Kenny said in frustration.
"Queen Mirasol and the doom of the world." Kendra read. That shocked everyone.
Suddenly, pieces of unrecalled memories flashed before Blythe. It was quick flashes of children enjoying themselves and reading the same book.
huh? why does it feel like this happened before..
She thought as she looked at everyone around her.
"Voci" A voice called out to her once.
"Voci, are you okay?" Taka asked while touching her hand to make her come back to reality which caught everyone's attention.
"Y-Yeah. hehe why don't we read it?" She said getting her hand off Taka's hold and placing it behind her head.
"Long ago, when the continents were one and everyone was at peace, the world was ruled by a very powerful Queen. Her name was Queen Mirasol." Kendra read as she flipped the picture book.
"Queen Mirasol loved her people and would often travel the world to help every single subject she had." she flipped the book again.
"But one day, somewhere in the world during the Queen's visit, humanity, one of her species, decided that they want the land for themselves and did not want to share it with the others. "
"Ah! Didn't we read this picture book when we were young?" Kenny gasped.
"Yeah.. I think I can recall. It was a disaster because we read it together with some demon children." Taka said.
"I think I remember that, too." Duke added.
"Same." Kendra said.
Demon children?
Blythe thought, getting a few more flashes of a memory she never had before but looked unshaken this time while Lance looked at her with furrowed eyebrows.
"Shall I continue?" Kendra asked.
"Please." Blythe said with a forced smile.
"Okay.." Kendra said with a worried look as she flipped another page.
"Queen Mirasol did not like this and decided she wanted to solve everyone's problem. But whenever she resolved it and moved on to her travels, in the next year she visits the same town they would have the same problem." Kendra continued.
"This went on for a few more years until the humans crossed the line and have taken the life of an innocent creature during one of Queen Mirasol's visits." she flipped again.
"Queen Mirasol became angry and breached havoc into the lands. 'From this day onwards, this world will be divided into four continents. In my deathbed, my soul shall roam each continent and in my next lives, I shall wipe out each continent that had still not grown in peace.' she said before vanishing in front of her people." Kendra flipped to the last page and at this point, everyone was dead serious. The last page only contained a phrase and everyone's anticipation dropped.
"That's it?" Kenny raised his brow.
"To save your people, you must save their hearts. To save their hearts, you must reach into the one with the most hatred." Kendra read.
"What could it mean?" Duke questioned.
"Who cares? It's just a children's book, man! Don't be so tense!" Kenny said jokingly.
"But what if it meant something?" Kendra asked.
"C'mon sis! Don't be so serious!" Kenny said.
"But doesn't it make sense? Considering what happened to the continent of Esberg.." Kendra said, shaking.
Everyone became gloomy.
"If.." Blythe said, making everyone in the room look at her.
"If that was the case, then I'd do my best to save everyone." She continued, making everyone shocked.
Take formed a smile on his face as he pat her head, making everyone look at them.
"Don't be silly. I'm the one who should protect you. After all, you're still a damsel, Voci." He said with a smile making Blythe smile, too that made everyone in the room jealous.
"Me, too! I'm gonna protect Blythe, too!" Kenny said.
"I will protect everyone as well." Duke said.
"I will, too!" Kendra said.
"Eeehhh? Don't kid yourself, sis. You can't even wield a sword!" Kenny said as he received a smack in the head by Kendra.
Everyone laughed as if the atmosphere has lightened up.
Don't worry, everyone. I'll protect all of you no matter what the consequences may be. But first, I have to know what those flashes of memory were.
---
The school bell rang, as everyone scattered in the school grounds. Lance was about exit the senior school building when he saw Blythe standing by the exit. He walked towards her with a smirk on his face.
"I see you've changed your heart towards me." Lance joked.
"Tell me everything. I want you to tell me everything. Every single detail that you know about me and what has happened to my past."
Lance's smile faded for a while but immediately returned.
"Very well, then."
To be continued
