Chapter 2

813 Words
As soon as I reach the door I start pounding and yelling Greg’s name, his mother Maggy Thornbrut, a nasty old hag with evil squinted eyes and dyed purple hair answers the door bare faced and uglier than ever. “What is it you ungrateful beast?!” Maggy yells. “I need to talk to Greg, something has happ-“ “Who’s at the door mom?” Greg interrupts. “Oh Greg, thank God! Something is seriously wrong.” I say hurriedly. “What’s wrong Ope, did you feed on a stray dog again?” He says jokingly. “No, you big Buffoon! I slept way past my usual time, and I do not remember anything from yesterday for the life of me! I don’t know what is wrong with me. I really need your help Greg…” “You seriously do not remember anything from last night?” I shake my had to answer his question. “Wait were you with me yesterday?” I ask with some relief, maybe I will get some answers.  “Yes I was, and you were supposed to bring me home after the party, but you left and when I tried to stop you and ask why you were leaving so early you just walked straight passed me like you were in a trance or sleep walking.” “Mom! Greg! Hurry! There was a major animal attack last night over by Foxworth Hall!” Greggory’s annoying and spiteful little sister Janet yells from the living room.             We all rush to the living room. “Oh, hey Opal, did you kill anymore sewer rats while you were down living in the gutter you should be living in?” Janet says as she sees me with a hateful look in her dark brown almost black eyes. Her skin was much darker than Greg’s almost as dark as Maggy’s wrinkly and cracked skin used to look before it became all ashy looking.             A few feet away Maggy turns up the volume and we can hear the tv. “- last night a gruesome attack happened at one of our most sacred buildings in this town as a wild animal ripped through and attacked twelve students whom were making their way home from a late-night study session. Currently Foxworth Hall is closed and no classes will be available until the remains have been cleaned up and the animal has been found. It is thought the massive creature in charge of these attacks is a species of bear, police are suggesting it to be a grizzly. Next up on Morning Sunshine News is the weather take it away Sal.” Mrs. Thornbrut turns off the tv and tells me to leave.                 As I am being pushed out the door by Mrs. Thornbrut, I hurriedly attempt to argue my case, “Hey what is going on, do you think I had something to do with this?” “Just get out you nasty beast and don’t ever come near my son again or you will have more than my family just to deal with.” Her eyes glowing a piercing purple which only happens when she feels threatened and scared. She slams the door behinds me as I stumble down the stairs, I almost fall onto the ground until I kick in my super speed and flip in midair to land on my feet. As I look back I see Greg just staring out at me in awe, his mother had started to tell him something but before I could hear what she was saying she quickly closed her curtains shutting out any ability of mine to hear anything she was saying. Ever since Greg and I had become friends she had been putting different spells all over the house, her curtains for example shut any outsider out from hearing anything coming from inside the house. I turn towards my house red tears filling up my eyes and I feel the burning desire to lash out and cry, I fight the urge as hard as I can and use my super speed to get to Greg’s and my hideout. As soon as I am passed the doorway, I feel my knees buckle under me and the tears start pooling out my eyes, my cries are being choked out from all the pain I am feeling. For the first time since we met this was the first time Greg did not follow me after his mother had kicked me out of the house. My heart is broken, and I can feel every part that is cracked and crushed, another downside to being part vampire. All vampire’s feelings are on over drive so we can feel every little thing that happens emotionally.
