KILLER WITHIN EPISODE FIFTEEN

Martin and Remi got home and the first thing he noticed was the blood stains on the carpet then he remembered how Lexi drove the knife in his stomach in a quick flash back. How could she be so cold hearted how could she try to kill him after everything they had been through?..

Remi knew it was not a good idea to let him sit in the living room with the horrible memories crowding his head so she took him to his room and helped him to the bed before she could go back and clean the mess in living room.

Martin: I'm sorry, I feel like this is too much work.

She spread a blanket over him, put a pillow on the back of his head and sat on the edge of the bed.

Remi: don't say that. I'm here because I care about you Martin.

He took his hand in hers and smiled briefly then let go.

Martin: thank you..

Remi nodded then got up and went to prepare him something as she also got to clean the house and as soon as Remi stepped out, Martin slid out of bed, slowly walked to the wardrobe and searched inside a coat and got his gun then walked back to the bed.

Flashback

Lexi: baby the ring is so beautiful..

She said smiling looking at the ring then she helped him get up from the floor and she hugged him. He had been on one knee in the hospital and that was a plan Martin made through the nurses.

Lexi had been taken for the examinations and when she got back in her room being wheeled on a wheel chair, he was there on one knee with a ring in his hand.

Martin: is that a yes?

Lexi: of cause baby I will marry you.

Martin helped her to her bed then pushed the wheel chair away..

Lexi's smile slowly disappeared and then she had this worried look on her face.

Martin: what is it love

Lexi: you know I'm sick right?

Martin: yes. I do...

Lexi: and you know also know I might not give you the life you want right?

Martin: don't say that Lexi I am hopeful. I choose you in sickness and I will make you my bride even if it's the last thing I will do.

Lexi had tears drop from her eyes and Martin wiped it.

Martin: I love you and nothing will change that. Nothing in this world will change how i feel about you...

He c****d his gun after confirmation of the bullets he had. He lay back in bed and tucked the gun under his pillow then got his phone to call Lexi but on several rings she didn't pick up.....

George dropped Lexi to her hotel room where he had picked her up and after confessing to each other how good the night was, he promised to take her out again if she was up for it and Lexi agreed to it. They shared a passionate kiss before George left.

Lexi walked in to take a shower before she could actually go home. She undressed, hopped in the shower and let the water run on her. She scrabed herself but couldn't help but remember the night she had with George for it was quite memorable.

She played the kisses on her mind and her time in the bathroom was cut short by another call and knowing it could have been Martin, she quickly got out of the bathroom, wrapped a towel around herself and went for the phone. It was Martin again..

Lexi: hey.

Martin: hey... Baby where are you?

There was a bit of a silence as Lexi stared in the mirror and saw her other self standing in a towel like she was but she was not on the phone like she was.

Martin: are you there?

Lexi: yeah....What do you want?

She ask arrogantly like she didn't care about what she had done to him..

Martin: what do you mean by what do I want. I'm your fiance.

Lexi: right. Where I am is not important. I know you want to set me up with your cop b***h.

Martin: you know that's not true. I love you Lexi and all I want to do is help you through whatever you are going through. I want to help.

Lexi: I don't need your help Martin. I am fine.

Martin: okay, then please tell me..... Where is my sister?

Lexi: your sister, the nosey b***h who couldn't mind her own business, yeah she is dead. I killed her.... Is that why I'm wanted?

Martin didn't respond to that as he didn't know what to tell her. Lexi had grown so cold hearted that he didn't know what to do with her. He was setting a trap for her that she didn't fall for and it was a good thing because if she decided to set foot in his house again, he was going to kill her....

Martin; what do you mean by you killed her.. this is not the time for jokes Lexi, where is she?

Lexi: I don't know...

She hanged up on him then stared back at the mirror then shrugged her shoulder, dropped the phone on the bed and went back to the bathroom..

Laura pushed whoever had a scarf to her neck to the wall then hit her with her elbow and she got away from her and when she turned, she saw some woman that she had not seen before. She looked well built and dangerous and for a moment she got scared.

Laura: who are you?

She asked getting away from the lady but the lady grabbed her by the hair and they started to fight again. They wrestled as they pushed each other around and Laura having learned karate before, did a number on her and the lady fell then Laura grabbed her by one foot and dragged her to the kitchen. The lady kicked her legs in the air trying to kick her but none of the kicks got to her.when she got to the kitchen still holding her leg, she grabbed a knife from the knife stand and got down to her.

Laura: I will ask again, who the hell are you and who sent you?

She asked placing the knife on her neck.

Her: you are not safe here, you need to leave this place and don't come back.

Laura pressed the knife even deeper.

Her: no one sent me. I'm here to warn you Laura.

Laura: how did you know I will be here?

Her: I have been following you for a while. I'm an investigator.

She loosened the knife and got off her.

Laura: what are you investigating?

Her: alot of things. Keep that knife away.

She said getting up and so did Laura...

The lady led the way to the living room and Laura followed her after dropping the knife on the kitchen counter.

Her: my name is Kelly, I'm a private investigator and I had been hired to investigate the death of Lawrence by his father mr. Newton. He asked me to investigate you too because he thinks you have something to do with Lawrence's death.

She stopped briefly and turned to look at her..

Laura: really?

Kelly: listen, you are not the only one in question. Lawrence told his father about some project he was working on and his father was among the people looking for a client to buy the project.

Laura: what?

Kelly: Lawrence had friends who knew what he was upto and my investigations shows that the friends could have had something to do with his disappearance.

Laura: what have you found out according to your investigations?

Kelly: we pulled up the security footages with the help of the guards from the estate Lawrence lived. We found this woman, she paused as a taxi driver and from Lawrence's phone records, they didn't have any conversations prior to the visit.

She said showing Laura Lexi's photo from the CCTV footage.

Laura: the police already knows that.

Kelly: yeah but I'm telling you this so that you know who you are up against. She is not the only one.

Kelly said scrolling through her tablet and showing her another photo.

Kelly: this is vera. I know you met her yesterday for lunch but you might want to stay away from her. They are onto you and they will kill to know what you know.

Laura: wait, you... We're you the one who stuck a wire on my blouse, is that how you have been. Listening in on my conversations?

Kelly: that was not me. That was vera. Here take a look.

She showed her a photo of her and vera hugging with vera sticking the tiny wire on her blouse.

Laura: s**t.

She said running to her room and checking her dirty laundry to find that blouse. She unstuck the wire and broke it into two then turned to look at Kelly who had followed her and was standing by the door.

Laura: you think she heard everything?

Kelly: depends on what you were talking about when you were alone. Listen I'm still investigating vera but stay away from her.

Laura: why are you protecting me?

Kelly: I'm not. I'm just doing my job and that includes protecting the clueless like you..

Laura: the clueless, you almost chocked me to death with that scarf.

Kelly: that was not planned. I wanted to show you how unsafe you are. Stop leaving the doors open because Lawrence's enemies are now your enemies and they will not stop until they send you to the same place they sent him..

Laura: should I report them to the police?

Kelly gave her unsatisfying look.

Laura: what, so I should just sit and wait for my for my death?

Kelly: no. You fight but the police, I wouldn't go that way if I was you. Justice can be bought. The lady in question Lexi, her mother is a business woman, well known and she is the type who believes all problems are solved with cash... Police, not your best option.

Laura took a deep breath and sat on the bed. She thought for a while then raised her face and looked at her.

Laura: how do I find this woman, Lexi?

Kelly: why would you want to find Lexi?

Laura: I want to know why she killed Lawrence.

Kelly: stay away from her too. She is dangerous.

Laura: not as I am. You have been investigating her meaning you know where she lives. Give me the address.

Kelly: last time I saw her she was living with her fiance then I lost track of her. I will give you an address but you might want to be careful......

Banda had been treated though his finger could not be attached back, it has never happened so he was going to have to live with that. He had a hard time explaining to Angie why Lexi attacked her because he didn't know what Lexi wanted as much as she claimed that he left or maybe he did but was she serious when she told Banda that she wanted money from him?

Angie: so we are going to live in fear of Lexi for the rest of our damn lives?

Banda: no. I will give her what she wants so that she can leave us alone.

Angie: what she wants huh! You Will give her what she wants yet I have been asking you to go see my parents and you keep saying you don't have money. Am I even important to you Banda?

She asked preparing the dinner in the kitchen where he kept her company as she did all the cooking.

Banda: don't make this about you Angie. I have plans to go see your parents but I have to officially get divorced from Maryanne and uou know that because i have told you before. All this is becoming so difficult if you don't try to understand me. I can't do it straight up because I will loose everything i have worked so hard for..

Angie: so it's about the money?

She asked wiping her hands and holding her waist as she stared at him long and hard.

Banda: it has always been about the money Angie and do you know what I have been through to have those businesses running?

Angie: of cause I know,....dating an older woman, siring kids with her and leaving me heavily pregnant don't even bring that Banda. Our child died when you were busy chasing money out there, money that I did not even see. You left me Banda and now that you are back, I have to deal with your crazy daughter and not just her but her mother as well..

She wiped the kitchen counter and wiped a few plates then put them in the kitchen cabinet before cut everything up and waited to make her stew. Banda was tongue tied because everything Angie said was true. He had promised her enough time that he would make everything right with her mother and brother but things kept getting in the way. She threw him a disgusted look then got the mop and mopped some water that had poured on the floor. He looked at her but didn't have anything else to tell her so excused himself and walked out of the kitchen....

Remi finished up cleaning the house and left Martin to rest as she went to he station to follow up on Stella and Lexis case, no one had heard from Lexi and no one had seen Stella's body either.

Martin heard Remis's car drive off so he got up with his gun, wore his shirt and dragged himself out of the bedroom. He got to the living room and sat on the couch then made a call to one of his guys.

Ian, an IT guru who had his own communication company.

Ian: Big boss.

Martin: bro, how are things?

Ian: very cool, tell me. How are you?

Martin: I'm good.listen, I have a favor to ask.

Ian: sure.

Martin: my girlfriend Lexi, she's gone missing and I don't know how to find her.

Ian: do you want me to find her for you, Dude, if a girl goes missing she's probably hooked to some other dude.

Martin: don't talk like that.

Ian: you know me, I'm your guy and I will do anything for you..

Martin: thanks bro. Beer on me soon.

Martin ended the call and got up to go open the door as there was someone who kept on sounding the bell. The ring was persistent and he thought it was Lexi but on second thought, Lexi would just barge in. So he dragged himself to the door and when he opened it, there was a fine young lady standing by the door with a smile on her face. It was Laura. She had meant it when she said she was going to kill Lexi because she had a gun in her handbag and was holding it inside the handbag and only let go when she saw Martin open the door. She badly wanted it to be Lexi so that she could blow off her head and run off..

Martin: hello?

Laura: ummh, hello...now unless I'm lost....

She said looking around to make sure she was at the right door.

Martin: depends on who you are looking for.

Laura: my name is Laura and I'm looking for Lexi. Her mother said I could find her here.

Martin: and you are?

Laura: her classmate and friend of a few years.

She said trying not to be nervous...

Martin: she has never mentioned you.

Laura: I know. I've not been around. I went overseas for a while and i got back a few weeks ago...

Martin was suspecious, but he knew the only way to find out who Laura really was, was to usher her in and make her feel comfortable..

Martin: Lexi is not at home but she will be here soon. He said showing her in and as soon as she walked into the livingroom, he grabbed his gun from the back and put it on her head and she froze...

Martin: you have less than ten seconds to tell me who you are, why you have a gun and what you are doing in my house....start talking...

Laura: I.. I do not have a gun..

Martin: are you sure about that, should i check your bag?..

Laura: that is not necessary...

Wait, how did he even know she had a gun?...
