As Blue As The Ocean!

Chapter Eleven

"That is not me! That is not me! I know it looks like me! How in the hell would I possibly be able to kidnap a merman on my own?"  I snap with anger at the police as they drag me in a holding cell.

Get a lawyer. 

I had to get out of here!

No way was I going to spend the 

night here over night.

"I swear I did not do it!" I beg them. "Watch the tape again. Can we watch the tape again?" I beg them.

"We will have a lawyer appointed to you if you do not have one" the officer announces to me as he throws me in jail with other women.

"I did not do it!" I argue.

He sighs looking annoyed with me. "Sure" he laughs. "what about you other ladies and the other we did not do it's?" he jokes.

"But sir I am innocent" I beg of him.

He shakes his head.

Girls stand up. "Me to! I am innocent! I want a lawyer!" states a girl in there. So many now are screaming they are innocent.

The officer smiles at me then wanders away. I pace the floors as I wait for my one phone call that they will allow for me to have. No way I could have kidnapped Kavan all on my own? I had to be under a spell. Right? Magic? That was the only thing that made sense. Now where was Kavan? Back in the ocean?

Would I never see him again?

The feeling sunk in my stomach. Making me sad inside. Never see the merman again. I felt such a connection with him. I sigh as I lean against the wall in the jail cell. Staying away from the other women in here who were eyeing me curiously. Would we meet again?

I hoped wherever Kavan was that he was safe. And happy back in the ocean. And maybe he would find his right Elissa that he had been working to look for. His future queen. His mate. I certainly was not his mate.

I feel the back of my ears where I had gills. The scales were gone. I gasp. I feel again. I look over in the mirror that was hanging on the wall near the sink and the toilet. They were gone. He must have given them to me.

I did not always have them. I frown. I felt so confused right now. I had so many questions. And only Kavan had the answers. Kavan was not here to give them to me though.

"What are you in here for sweets?" a woman asks me.

She looked like she was a middle-aged hooker. She had curly ash blond hair. She wore a very slutty red dress. Ripped leggings. High heels. She smelled like booze and ciggs. She looked like she was past her prime. Almost fifty years old. I back away from her.

"For stealing" I say.

"Haven't we all" she laughs.

"For stealing a man" I tell her. "Kidnapping!"

She laughs. "What? You? A little thing like you? You are in here for kidnapping a man?" she hoots with laughter.

"That is right. They caught me on camera" I brag.

She eyes me. "I like you. My name is Barb" she tells me.

"Mandy" I lie.

She nods. "So where is the man at?" she wonders. "Hide him away someplace?" she jokes. "For your own pleasures?"

"Something like that. Dumped him into the ocean" I tell her. The others are looking a bit scared of me. "So, they say" I laugh.

There they will not mess with me now.

"Your mother is here for you" says the officer as he comes back. "You will have to be under house arrest" he informs me. "until court date is settled for you" he says as he takes me leading me out of there.

"My mom paid my bail?" I ask.

He nods as he leads the way out. "Yes" he tells me.

My mom is in the room waiting for me. She looks pissed off. I did not blame her. They uncuff me. Reading me my rights. I sign paperwork. Then they go to get a bracelet for my ankle. One I would have to wear all the time.

"Why did you steal the merman?" mother asks as we wait in the office there.

"Mom you really think that I could steal a man?" I laugh. "much less a merman?" I tell her.

"I do not know what to think any more" she mutters as she shrugs her shoulders.

"Mom I know there is a lot that says I did it. But I swear I did not do that" I vow.

"Fine. We will go to court. Get a lawyer. Fight this and get your job back" she tells me.

I nod. "Fine, but I don't want that job. I can't work with people who treat the sea creatures unfairly as they had" I warn her.

"Alright. Then you still have to get a job to pay lawyer fees. You have to pay me back for the bail to" she demands.

I sigh. "Fine" I agree. "Deal!"

They come back and slap a bracelet to detect where I am at all times. It lights up activating in red lights. I sign some paperwork.

Mother looks it over then demands copies of it all. And then we are escorted out of there. I could not believe all the false charges claimed on me. Mom takes me out of there. She hugs me after.

"I am not sure I believe what they say. I trust you. I always have kiddo" she vows. She brushes my hair back out of my face. I smile back at her.

"I did not do that" I promise her again.

"I know kid" she says. "Let's go home" she tells me.

We stop by the diner in town. She gets takeout. She knows I do not want others to see the thing on my ankle. I was ashamed. I was not going to be seen around town for awhile. I had gotten curious glances as they walked by the car. I slide down in my seat, so they did not see me.

Mother takes me on home. We have a nice dinner. Everyone else was out. I was not sure how I was supposed to bath with this thing on my ankle. But I would figure it out. Maybe overnight they would see who really did this.

And I would be set free. I look up the video and find it on YouTube. I watch it again. Sure, enough there was me. Clear as day. Going into a rampage. Swimming down. Breaking the merman free. Then tossing him over my shoulder. I pause it. I was not that good of a swimmer.

Not like on here. There was no way that was me on the camera. I replay that. Something in my eyes too. When my eyes flash on camera there they were an evil green blue. My eyes were not blue. They were brown. That was not me!!

"I knew it! This is not me! Mom! Mom!" I call out.

"Yes dear?" she asks as she comes in.

"Come here!" I call to her as she enters my room.

"Watch this and tell me if you think this is me" I order to her.

She leans over my shoulder as I play the clip for her.

"Play that again dear" she orders to me.

I do as she says. "You are not a good swimmer. But that is a good thing for me" she suddenly laughs. "I am" she tells me.

"Mom?" I ask as I turn around feeling confused.

Our eyes meet. The same evil green glow flashes in her eyes. She transforms before me. Into a hideous creature. Her hair was black. Long flowing down her back. She was taller than me.

She had gills near her ears. She inches to me. A staff appears in her hands. She has the same necklace that I do. Mine is now glowing as it did when I was with Kavan.

"Who are you? What have you done with my mother?" I demand to know. She lunges at me.

Trying to get to me. I back into my laptop. It topples on the floor crashing. She tries to stab me with her staff. Then she jabs at my ankle. The bracelet shatters then crashes on the floor. Into pieces. I fall to the floor. She nearly gets me with her staff in the head by bashing me.

I roll over. "What do you want? Who sent you? Who are you?" I demand to know.

We fight. We chase though the house as she trashes it. I end up in my mother's room. I open the closet to try to hide in in. Mother falls out all tied up. I bend down to untie her. "Mom!" I gasp.

"She is after you! She took the merman!" warns mother after I ungag her mouth.

The evil being comes in the room. After me and mother. I had to get her away from my mom. I run past her out of the room. Hoping she would follow me there. So, mother would be safer. Where was Kavan? Who was this evil b***h? Soon the woman had me pinned to the wall with her staff choking my neckline.

"What have you done with him princess? He is mine" she hisses a warning at me.

"Where is who? I am not a princess" I argue while my windpipe is broken off. I can hardly breath.

"Where is the merman?" she orders. "I took him. He escaped. You have the princess necklace" she snaps.

"Oh yeah he gave me that" I explain. "I am not the princess" I argue.

"But you are" she argues. "I would know you anywhere" she hisses at me. Green evil flashes in her eyes.

A flash of light bolts at her neck. Startling her. It was coming from the window. She screeches with pain. She was hit in the neck. I gasp. I was out of breath. Another bolt shoots out of there. Right from the window.

"Merman!" she hisses.

I glance out the window. I see Kavan barley from the window. He was in the ocean waters. Shooting his staff my way.

So, the sea witch had kidnapped him. Posing as me. He got away from her. How was it she could be on sea and land, but he could not? I did not understand that. Kavan was protecting me. From the sea.

"Kavan?" I call out from the window.

Cops pull up. The monitor was broken. They would think I tried to escape. The sea witch was now gone. I glance back at the ocean.

Kavan was gone to. He saved me again. I hoped he was safe out there. And so was his princess. My heart races faster. Police storm in the house to ask us questions. Maybe now they would believe that I did not do this. Maybe I would be set free. Hopefully.
