As Blue As The Ocean!

Chapter Thirteen

"Isn't she lovely Kastrov?" someone is saying near my side. I can hear them but can't see them!

"She is a doll" someone answers.

"One day she will be the queen. Queen of the sea" someone is saying above me.

"So much expectation for one so small" coos a tall gentleman. Bubbles of water float around us. He smiles down at me. I feel him pick me up. Holding me in his embrace. "My little Elissa. Daddy loves you. And one day this whole kingdom will all be yours" he is saying to me. "your prince will rule along side you" he tells me. "we have him all picked out. Everything is planned for you my little princess" he is saying to me. "all you have to do is grow up. And it will all be yours"

I notice a necklace around their necks, the same one I was wearing. They were glowing in the waters. I try reaching for the necklace on the man's neck as I lay in his embrace.

"She wants one of her own don't you my sweet baby?" coos the woman. I see her now.

I feel her place something around my neck. She shows me the glowing necklace.

"Family, princess" she says to me. "My sweet princess"

She leans in kissing me on the forehead.

I gasp as I wake in bed. There was a storm brewing outside the window. My necklace was glowing now. Why did I remember this? Why? I never had memories of the past before. Why now? Maybe the merman was messing with my mind.

Maybe. Maybe. It did not make sense. Maybe his Elissa was showing me details of her life from her necklace. Right?

The connection could be with this necklace, that I kept holding onto. I glance down at my necklace. I take a deep breath. Wow what a dream.

Maybe if I went down to the beach, I could see Kavan again and ask him about the dream that I had. Nothing was making sense to me. Nothing. My past was always a mystery to me. Would I ever find my real family? Find out where I came from?

I always thought that my family would be enough for me. I knew they loved me like I was their own. I always had a happy childhood. There was nothing they were always there for me.

I knew they loved me. But that was not my flesh and blood. Why had my family left me on the beach? Just left me? Why did my own mother not want me? Deep down it did hurt a little to think about that.

I sigh as I sit up in bed.

"Elissa?" mother knocks on my door. "Are you alright?"

"I had a nightmare" I admit to her.

"I am sorry honey" she tells me. "want me to get you some warm milk? You need rest. You have that job interview in the morning" she reminds me.

I did have a job interview for in the morning. At a local bookstore. I was really hoping to get the job. I could use the work. After losing my job unfairly at the aquarium. I yawn. I shake my head. I did not need warm milk. I needed to stop having nightmares. And I needed to stop worrying about mernen.

"I will sleep mom. Thank you kindly" I tell her.

"If you need anything I am in the next room" she says with a smile before heading out of the room. I shut the door when she leaves. I wander over to the window.

Rain pelted down on the window. Why was I having Elissa's memories? Was she trying to warn me? Show me things? Trying to get me to protect her prince Kavan?

Maybe that was why I was connected to her. Maybe this was her necklace. And her spirit was connected to it? I had to talk to Kavan again. I needed more answers. I would not rest until I had them.

Lighting flashes in the sky near the window. I shiver. Then I climb back into bed for the night. Trying to get some sleep for the night. I hoped to get a new job the next day. A new job and a new start.

There was no way I was going back to work at the aquarium. That place was a mess.  I yawn as I pull some covers over my shoulders. And lay down onto the pillow. I close my eyes and try to ignore the thunder booming over head on the roof of the house late in the night.

The next morning, I wake up late. Nearly missing the third alarm on my phone. I barley have time for a shower. But I hop in it quick. Then dress up for my job interview.

Print out my updates resume. Grab a muffin from my kitchen and then head out on my way for my job interview. When I get there, they give ne an interview. Even though I was running late.

"Looks good. You worked hard but I am sorry. We talked your former employer. There were some shady things we can't have here in the workplace. Good luck to you Elissa" says the owner. We shake hands and we part ways. I head to my next job interview.

Was I black balled? Did Gary think by causing issues that he was going to get me to come back? That was never going to happen. I would rather start my own job from home then go back to work for Gary. There was no way I would ever work for them after what they did to Kavan. I head to the diner. The interview goes well.

"We have not had time to call your former employer yet. But everything looks fantastic. We are really shorthanded. Want to start now?" asks the boss as I sit at the desk.

I gasp. "Are you serious?" I ask.

He nods. We shake on it. "Welcome!" he says.

We get it all set up. I fill out paperwork. Then he hands me a uniform. I begin a shift. I soon get the hang of working at the diner.

Every time I went back to give the dishes to the bus boy to wash, he would have his back turned to me. He had dark black hair. He was mysterious to me so far. Later on, I was on my break. I had a bit of lunch. Then called my mom to let her know I had a job now.

Then I went right back to work.

Before I was done with my shift that afternoon, I had to find out who the bus boy was. He was the only one in the whole diner that I had not met yet. I had to know my coworkers. In case they called my past boss, I was going to need to do some butt kissing around here. I head to the back. I reach over to tap the bus boy on the shoulder.

"Hi, I am new here. I was making my rounds you know. I wanted to get a chance to get to know everyone before I left for the day. My name is Elis-" I stop in my tracks.

Kavan?!

No way!

"Kavan?" I say as I blink. "How are you here? You have legs. Wait wait are you the sea witch? Trying to trick me? Is this some kind of joke?" I laugh as I look around.

"Elissa hush!" he warns me. He takes me where no one else can overhear us. "I was following you. I started working here to be watching over you" he tells me. "you are in grave danger" he warns me.

"Me you are!" I laugh. "How did you get to be you? Your legs?" I stammer. "you are human" I gasp.

A good looking human I might add.

"The sea king allowed it. For a temporary time. Until I can find the princess. And until I can stop the witch. You are also in danger. She knows you know me. And she is after you to get to me. She knows I am after the princess. She is trying to stop me" he explains to me.

"So, she is after me?" I stammer nervously.

"To get to me" he tells me. "I can protect you"

"Where are you going to stay while you are on land?" I worry.

"I don't know. The beach" he mutters. "I slept on the beach last night"

I shake my head. "No Kavan. You will stay with us" I offer.

"I guess then I can watch over you" he says. "I am sorry for putting your life in danger"

His eyes look into mine. 

Filled with worry. And sorrow.

"No worries. We will figure things out as they come. As for now I can help you adjust to being a human, teach you how to be one. Do you have any idea what you are doing?" I giggle.

"Not really" he laughs.

"How did you get a job before me?" I ask.

"I came in here after I saw you did not get the other job; I had talked to your mother asking her where you went off to. Then she told me. I missed you at the bookstore" he admits.

"Cleaver boy" I giggle.

"I promise once the sea witch is captured, I will be on my way again. And off to find my princess. And you can get back to your life" he vows.

I nod. "Good. Okay" I say softly.

"Maybe I can help you find your princess while we wait for the sea witch to make her next move?" I ask.

"I don't want you getting harmed" he worries.

"I am a big girl. I can handle myself. She should be worried about me. There is one thing you should know about me Kavan. No one messes with my friends or anyone I care about" I state to him. "She will rue the day she decided to come after me"
