We were all scattered on the floor of Seungmin's apartment watching 'The Boy' of course it was Ryujin's favorite horror movie, so she made us watch it. We were at the scene of Greta getting locked in the attic; I eventually became bored and tired. I check the time on my phone it was 7:30 pm, "I'm heading out first, you guys, I have homework to work on." I said, getting up from the couch with my bag. "Aww, Mitzi, do you have to go already? You have the perfect grades skipping just this once won't hurt." Yeji said with a pout, and I let out a soft chuckle. "I'll see you guys tomorrow, bye," I said, walking out of the apartment and head towards the elevator. I stepped inside. Why am I suddenly feeling all this sadness? Could it be that I forgot to take my medication?
I walk inside my apartment, locking the door behind me. I get my textbooks and notebooks ready. I sat down as I began to study like there's no tomorrow. I took a small snack break at 9:40 pm before continuing my studies, close to being done my phone dinged Seungmin's name appeared on my screen. I unlock my phone and read his text message, 'Is everything alright?'
I let out a soft sigh before turning my phone off; by 10 pm, I finished with my studies, yet this sadness still lingered around. So I decided to take a hot shower before going to bed, as I stepped into the steamy hot shower it sting for a couple of seconds before my body got used to the boiling water. The steam of the hot water fogged the bathroom, What would happen if my siblings and I continue living in the foster home? Are we even safe from our biological father? Are Jacob and Rosie safe knowing that father will keep looking for us? My head began to ache as I began to remember a horrible memory that I have always been trying to avoid. Before I could even force my brain to block it, the flashback came faster than my words.
" You can't just barge in here and think, 'Oh, I am here to take Jacob and Rosie away from their older sister.' Because you can't do that!" I look at my unstable mother with anger. "I know you're upset, Mitzi, but they're my kids." She said with tears running down her pale cheeks. "They don't even know who you are!" I noted tears were blurring my vision, "I'm their mother." She said, "You were my mother too!" I said sobbing, Rosie and Jacob hid behind Matthew afraid of what's happening. "Emily, you should just leave...you need help. Mitzi's right, you're not stable enough to take care of them. Don't worry. They're in good hands." Alice, our child protective services worker, said as the police officers grab ahold of our mother.
As they dragged her out of Addison's and John's house, I fell to my knees, crying uncontrollably. Laura pulls me into her arms, comforting me, "Hey, it's okay, you're okay look Jacob and Rosie are okay alright just breathe okay." She whispered, rubbing soothing circles on my back. "It's all too much for a twelve-year-old to handle, she's gonna have to see a doctor," Alice informed our foster parents. My vision was so blurry that I eventually passed out from the crying. Why did she came looking for us? We were perfectly fine. Why did she decided to begin looking for us after all those years of hell she made me and my siblings go through?.
I open my eyes to see that I was still in the shower; my body was in pain. Did I fell? I turned the shower off and wrapped myself in a towel. I stood in front of the mirror, wiping away the steam. I look to see a huge bruise was forming on my side; I gasped, "oh my god, how did I- did I fell?" I question myself. I hear my phone ring. I walk out of the bathroom and into my room, I pick up my phone to see Seungmin was calling I answered the call. "Hey, Seungmin, why are you calling so late?" I asked, looking at the clock that stood on my nightstand. "I just wanted to check on you to see how you were." He said with a distressed voice.
"Oh well uh, I'm fine thanks for worrying," I said nervously I pull out a fresh set of clean sweatpants and a tank top, I got dressed into them. "That's good listen I noticed that you seemed a little off since of what happened earlier in the day...are you sure you're okay? If anything, you could always talk to me." He said I felt a small smile appear on my lips. "Listen, Seungmin. I'm okay. I'm fine, alright, you don't have to worry, okay," I said as I brush my hair.
I get myself into bed, "Alright, well, I should let you get some rest...goodnight Mitzi." he said. I smile, "Goodnight, Seungmin." I said before hanging up. I place my phone on my nightstand connecting it to the charger. I lay down and stared at the ceiling. Why am I so afraid?
7:30 am, I got ready for another typical day of university. I grab my bag and phone before walking out of my apartment. I saw Seungmin was already waiting outside of my apartment. "Hey," I said, locking the door. "Did you get any sleep?' he asked. I gave him a confused look, "You have bags under your eyes." he said with arms crossed, "Mitzi, what's going on? I have never seen you this way before is everything okay?" He asked I let out a small sigh of frustration. "Yes, Seungmin, everything is okay...there's nothing to worry alright...so what I stayed up late studying again." I lied straight to his face, and I have lied before but never to Seungmin with him. I always told him everything that was bothering me, but I guess not everything. "Look, can we just go before we're late," I said, walking to the elevator. Eunwoo had walked out of his apartment greeting us, "Good morning you two." he said with a smile plastered on his lips, I gave him a faint smile as the three of us stepped into the elevator.
Ryujin stood in front of the elevator with a worried look, "You two done?" she asked as we stepped off and headed towards the front doors of the lobby. "Yes now let's go before it starts raining," Seungmin said as I hand him the car keys, I got inside the car. "What's up with her?" Ryujin asked him, but Seungmin didn't answer her question. The drive to the university was quiet. None of us spoke a single word through the whole ride. Once we have gotten to the university, I noticed a familiar black Mercedes parked by the drop-off. I think Seungmin noticed it too by the look on his face, once he had parked the car we had gotten off. "I'll see you guys at our usual place," Ryujin said, walking off to class. Seungmin and I both had first-class together, I spotted Doyeon. "Doyeon!" I called out for her, Seungmin left without saying anything else.
"Hey Mitzi, did you even sleep last night?" She asked, noticing my tired eyes. "I stayed up a bit late last night." I lied; she gives me a warm smile. "Well, I also noticed some bad vibe between you and Seungmin...is everything okay with you two?" Doyeon asked concerned why wouldn't she two of her closes friends argued about getting here. "We had a small argument before coming here," I said as we both walk to class. "Why? What happened?" she asked. I let out a sigh. "He kept worrying, so I told to stop worrying because everything is fine, but I guess he doesn't believe," I said there were three minutes left before class even starts.
"Can you blame him though, I mean he does care about you more than you think," Doyeon said as she watched Seungmin with the others "I know he does, but I don't know...look don't tell anyone. Lately, I have been having these strange feelings." I said she looks at me, confused. "Yesterday when everything that happened with Tiffany at the parking when Seungmin hugged I don't know, I felt strange as if I had small feelings for him, which I'm not so sure yet if I do have any," I said Doyeon squealed as she wrapped her arm over my shoulder. "Oh my god, M, are you kidding me...if Seungmin ever finds out he's gonna be thrilled." She said excitedly I look at her "What do you mean thrilled?" I asked Doyeon's smile fades. "Damn me and my big mouth." she mumbled, "Doyeon...does Seungmin like me?" I wondered she looked at me with a smirk and nudged my shoulder. "You bet your cute ass he does," she said I let out a small sigh as my heart began to race. "Hey, Doyeon." We turn around to see Christopher Bang dressed all formal.
"Chris, what are you doing here?" Doyeon asked, "Oh god, it's been so long since I last saw." she said, hugging him, "So long? Doyeon, didn't we see each other at Jackson's party?" Christopher asked, chuckling, pulling away from the hug I looked away from him before he could glance at me. "We did? Hmm, look, this is Mitzi Rey-" "I know we met before." He said, cutting her off, "You did? When?" Doyeon asked. I look at her. "At your brother's party," I said, hugging myself as the wind started to get stronger. "Well then...what are you doing here?" Doyeon asked, looking at Christopher, confused about his appearance in university. "I had was having a meeting with one of the professors and the chairman." He said, his eyes never leaving me. I avoid his eyes. I turn to see Seungmin was staring at us with dark eyes. My phone buzzed I look to see a text from him 'What is he doing here?' I replied, 'He's here because of a meeting.' I turned my phone off and looked at him with a faint smile.
"We should hang out sometime," Doyeon said, I look at Christopher. "Yeah we should, I still need to return your hoodie," I spoke with a shy smile. "Wait, you have his hoodie?" she asked bluntly, "Doyeon were you that drunk that you can't remember what happened?' I asked her a smile appears on her red-tinted lips. "I guess so, what exactly happened?" she asked Christopher chuckles, "I'll tell you later." I said as the bell rang, "Well, we have to get to class. See you later." I told him, grabbing Doyeon's arm and dragged to class. Christopher Bang, you just made me more curious about you.
What kind of person are you? Why does Seungmin hate you so much? What did you do?
