Prologue
He charged through the dark, grunting as the wound on his side bit into him with each leap. Even in his transformed wolf state, with his heightened senses, he could barely see through the moonless night, blood clouded his vision as his head pounded in pain and exhaustion. Nearly slipping twice on moss covered logs and blinded with pain from the still bleeding wound. He tried to ignore it, all he wanted was to get to that light, a small pinpoint far in the distance, piercing the darkness and calling to him.
Jason skidded through a halt and sniffed through the air, his snout trying to find the direction of the threat. It came from nowhere, the smell of danger...
It was him, it was the abomination wolf.
Jason bared his teeth, fangs as long as an eagle's talons, his sleek black fur standing on high alert, his yellow eyes widening in fright and awareness. He was a big wolf, nearly as large as a small Elephant, black as charcoal and stood at 7 feet on his hind legs. But what was coming was much larger, a true monster of a wolf...
An Abomination wolf, the likes of which he had never seen in Flavian Falls, the terrible creation of corrupt science and abuse. A serial killer of werewolves, one he sincerely wished would stay clear of him and his loved ones. And this wolf used to be a loved one, now it was a horrible killer.
But unfortunately, wishes weren't horses.
The thing had found him and Andrea and he had engaged it briefly. Trying to protect his weakened mate, he had won their terrible duel, albeit barely and while paying a bloody price, a nasty, bleeding claw wound to his side. Even worse, he knew the victory was only temporary, it would be back to finish them off. He had to get help to Andrea fast. He had to find those campers and get them to call for help, he couldn't lose her too, he absolutely had to...
Jason stood, still as ice for a what seemed like forever, sniffing the cold night air desperately. Praying it hadn't found him again. The Abomination wolf's aura getting stronger and stronger as it got closer, he knew he couldn't survive another fight with it, not in this state, not while he was injured, but he had no choice, he couldn't let this beast get to her again, his only hope.
Suddenly, as quick at it came, the smell disappeared, Jason turned his head, frantically trying to pick up the scent, but it was gone, swallowed in the darkness of the woods. He allowed himself a moment respite before continuing his mad dash towards the light. If he could get to them, maybe he could convince them to come help him, he was running out of time, she was bleeding back where he left her in the cabin.
As he finally got close enough to see the outline of a camping tent, he saw the campers, 2 women and a man huddled around the fire sitting on coolers, with marshmallows on sticks melting slowly over it. The man and a woman sat with their backs to him, the one facing him was a blonde girl, who looked to be in her early 20s, staring into the fire, seemingly in a bored trance. He transformed back to his human form, his claws shrinking to fingers, his fur shrinking back to regular hair, his bones cracking back to their normal state and his fangs going back to their normal size.
He leapt into the clearing, the light from the fire illuminating his naked body.
A fairly tall man, 6ft 2 with dark eyes, a ripped body and long, shoulder length hair dark hair, Lean from head to toe, with no ounce of extra fat on his body, very dirty from the long run, with patches of dirt on him, and a wild, scared look on his eyes as he clutched his bleeding side.
"Guys, please, I need your help!" He called, stumbling into the clearing, still holding his side.
"Oh my God!" The blonde gasped pointing at him in shock. The other couple looked back in surprise, not moving for a second.
"Please, I have a friend who is really hurt, she is dying, we need a doctor" Jason gasped, falling over from exhaustion. The man, a 20ish looking black guy in spectacles in jeans trousers, a tank top and a beanie stood up quickly, rushing over to help him.
"Are you okay bro?" He asked grabbing his arm and trying to pull him up...
"Andrea" Jason said again, loudly this time, "Andrea, she is dying"
"Hey buddy, stay with me, where is she? Where is you friend?"
"In a cabin, about 3 miles north of here, please, we need a hospital."
"Breathe man, breathe, we are going to call 911, we will save your friend" the guy said soothingly, lowering him to the ground near the fire.
"Let's patch you up okay?"
"No! Andrea first! She doesn't have time! She is bleeding! If we don't get to her, She will BLEED to death" Jason yelled, seizing the guy's arms and looking around desperately at his shocked companions.
The blonde was clutching the other girl now, an small asian teen with her hair in a bun, both staring at him with fear in their faces..
" Hailee! Get the phone! dial 911, Kim! help me with the first aid box in the tent, he needs this wound cleaned up" the guy yelled, closing his hand over the still bleeding tear at Jason's side and applying a slight pressure over it. The wound still wasn't healing.
Jason grimaced in pain, realizing that the wound was STILL bleeding, the abomination wolf's claws must have some kind of poison that severely slowed his healing. The girls were still a bit shocked, not moving an inch but staring at him.
"But Dee, we don't..." The blonde started...
"NOW!"
As if suddenly shook up, they scrambled to obey him, it looked like glasses guy had some sort of authority over them, Jason was about to lie back and take a breath when the smell hit him again, this time stronger and heavier...
It was HIM again, Jason thought, realizing with horror that he had led the psychopathic monster straight to these innocent people.
"RUN!!!!!!" He yelled, shoving the guy named Dee out of the way, rising to his feet, and turning to face what seemed to be the direction the hair-raising smell was coming from...
"Bro, are you crazy?" Dee asked... pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "What the fu..."
Jason heard him before he saw him, the low, gut wrenching growl from the darkness of the trees, deafening in the silence of the cold night. A terribly massive wolf, the size of a f*****g Range Rover, with fur a mess of grey and black, eyes shining a malicious green, great brown fangs with saliva dripping out of them, burst out of the woods into their clearing.
Jason glared at him in pure hatred, before transforming into his Wolf, slowly but painfully, facing the demon infront of him. This was it, this was the last stand... If he perished, he perished. But he'd be damned if he let this monster hurt another person, even if he died trying.
The clouds had parted to bathe then with moonlight, Jason could see every detail of the monster now. It's hunched back, it's powerful muscles, rippling under the moonlight, it's shaggy fur, it's long, metallic claws and it's open mouth, with the wicked fangs dripping in malice. It appeared to have completely healed from all the wounds Jason had inflicted earlier, looking brand as new except for the matted fur where Jason had ripped at him. His acid green eyes settled on Jason, letting out a low growl from the back of his throat, identifying his target.
"Sweet Mary..." He heard Dee gasp, his eyes widening in horror at the monstrous sight before him. Jason turned back and looked at him...
"I said, run."
And with that, Jason bent his knees and leapt at his mortal enemy before him. A beast who was once a man, a man he used to call his friend...
