Once, a Brahmin, a kshathriya, a vaishya, and a shudra went on a tour. One evening they were very hungry. They saw an orchard full of ripe friuts. The four of them ate the fruits greedily. Suddenly the farmer, who is the owner of the orchard saw them could not do anything. Then the farmer tried the trick of separating them.He praised the Brahmin, the Thakur and Seth, showed his respect for them and made them eat fruits under separate trees. He then beat up the Shudra. The same treatment was meted out to the Kshathriya and the Vaishya. The Brahmin thought that he alone would be spared when the others ran to the village. But the farmer told the Brahmin, "You are a thief. The Thief has no cast and status." He beat him black and Blue. A saint who passed that way said to the Brahmin , First you committed a theft and secondly you could not maintain unity at the time of need. Therefore, any good man could defeat you easily." Thus the moral we get from the story is that Unity is strength. We should maintain unity at the time of need otherwise anyone can defeat us.
