"There's a reason why my skin is cold, there's a reason why they want me to go back to a place, and there's a reason why I knew you were my soulmate. I knew you were my soulmate because when one dies, their life flashes before their eyes and they see their soulmate. Those men who attacked you want me to return to the land of the undead." She revealed.

"Are you saying what I think you're saying?" I asked as I stared at my hands.

Jade turned her head towards me. "I'm dead, Harry."

Harold Evans, known as Harry to many, attends Bridgewater State University as a senior. Harry comes from a wealthy family with a mother who is a housewife and a father who is a doctor at Boston Medical Center. Exhausted and done with dealing with his needy parents, Harry is in desperate need for time away to start his life with his plan being relocating to Chicago after graduation. When Harry is suddenly attacked one night by a mysterious group of people, the odd Jade Dion steps in to save him from death. Chapter One
I always loved it when it rained. It seemed to be the only thing that kept my mind from wandering to the most negative places. I leaned against the window of the cafe and watched as the droplets of rain fell onto the glass. Since I was a kid, I had always enjoyed the sound of the rain. It was relaxing to me and it was usually the main thing I listened to whenever I wanted to block my father's loud voice. "Are you okay? Is there anything else I can get you?" The waitress asked as she stood at my table wearing the signature black and white uniform that all workers wore. "I'm fine. Thank you." I answered. She smiled and nodded her head in understanding before walking away to greet the next customers who had just entered the small yet cozy cafe. Milo's Cafe was my favorite spot to hang out at. While most students at Bridgewater State University preferred to stay around campus and hit the streets at bars when nightfall hit, I'd come here to Milo's and sip coffee. I'd come during the entire week except for Sunday's, sit in my signature spot closest to the window and in the corner, and drink away. I was only twenty-two years old and most people expected me to still be in my party phase but I wasn't. I stayed to myself apart from hanging with my former roommate David occasionally. David was the complete opposite of me. When I first met him, it was twenty four hours after we had moved into our dorm. I remembered arriving to see that he had already moved in but he wasn't there. I unloaded my things, walked around the campus, and found the cafe only to return to the dorm to see that he was still not there. The next day, I woke up to see him laying across his bed with an X-Box controller in his hands. David was the party animal and would usually stay out all night attending any and every party until dawn but he not once treated me with disrespect. We were complete opposites yet close friends at the same time. I groaned as I heard the sound of my phone vibrating on the table. I looked at the screen to see my mom's name flashing across the screen which made me quickly press decline. I didn't have the greatest relationship with my parents and they were one of the main reasons why I was ready to graduate and move to Chicago. My mom was a housewife. Since I was a child, I do not recall her ever having a job. She usually stayed at home, raised me, and spent all kinds of money on expensive clothing. My dad was a doctor who expected me to follow his footsteps and do the same yet I refused. Because of this, it put a huge strain on our relationship. He was livid when he found out that I was majoring in Accounting and Finance. I looked over to see the familiar girl sitting at her usual table with her eyes on me causing me to scoff and look the other way. I had no clue who she was but she stayed at this cafe as much as I did and would always do the same thing which is stare at me. She would sometimes order a tea and drink that but most of the time she'd order nothing. She had the longest eyelashes with thick eyebrows. She had the softest brown eyes yet they always looked cold, her lips were the perfect size with her upper lip being brown and bottom being a plum shade to match her pretty brown skin. She usually wore her hair down as her loose curls were worn any kind of way. However, she wore it half up and half down today. Despite being a pretty girl, she was extremely creepy. I had never seen her around campus and she never had anyone with her in the cafe but she'd sit in the same spot and watch my move every single time. "I knew I'd catch you here!" I heard a voice say. I looked up to see David standing in front of me. "You caught me." I nonchalantly replied causing David to chuckle as he sat in the chair across from me. "I sent you a text an hour ago and got no response, Harry. I had to check on you. Are you good?" He asked. "I'm fine. I hadn't noticed that you had even sent me a message. What's up?" "You know I always invite you to the parties even if I know that you aren't coming." David joked. "It never hurts to ask." I laughed. "Thanks man but I'll probably just stay home." David groaned. "Come on man! It's our senior year. You're going to rot away in that little apartment of yours. You should let loose a bit." "You know parties aren't my thing." "I know, I know." David started. "But it is my birthday. I'd like for you to be there at least for a few minutes or until I blow out the candles of the cake." I chuckled at the twenty three year old man who sat across from me as he went on about his party. I looked over to see the girl staring at me again. Before I could do anything else, David clearing his throat caught my attention. "She's still stalking you?" He whispered. I sighed. "Yes and I want nothing more than to confront her but there's something very creepy about her." David nodded. "You can say that again. She stares at you as if she knows you. Even her aura is scary." "That's why we should leave." I started. "Ill be at your party tonight. Send me the address because I know you aren't having it at your apartment." "Definitely not with my annoying neighbors." David said as he stood up. He gave me a pat on the back before leaving the cafe. I grabbed my MacBook, phone, and tossed a goodbye to the waitress as I walked out of the cafe making sure to shoot the girl an odd look. It had been hours since the cafe and I was draining going to this party. David's birthday bash was being thrown in some random neighborhood and I was sure that it was at some random girl's home. There were cars parked all down the street with large groups of people walking towards the large White House that had groups of people lounging around in the front yard. Groaning in annoyance, I ended up parking at a convenience store a few blocks away. It was eleven at night and the store was dark since it was closed. Shaking my head, I stepped out of t****l black range rover and mumbled a few curse words to myself. Locking the doors, I placed my keys in my pocket before turning around to walk around the store to get to the street towards the house. There wasn't a single person around yet i could hear the loud music blasting. "I would have to go through this dealing with David." I mumbled. Suddenly, I could hear the sound of footsteps behind me. Turning around, I saw the figure of someone walking the same path as me. Shrugging it off, I kept walking. Things didn't become odd until more followed behind me and a few more walked towards me. "Nice car." One of the men said as he stopped in front of me. "I appreciate that." I said as I attempted to walk passed them only to be pushed against the brick wall by one of the men. "You're going to give us the keys to your car and all of the money you have on you." One of the other men said as he pulled out a knife. Clenching my jaw, I threw a punch landing it directly at the man's nose causing him to go back. The rest of the men jumped in and began to attack me as I fought back despite me losing. Looking up, I saw one of the men walking towards me with a knife while the rest backed away and smiled at me as I laid on the ground. Right as the man was about to stab me, someone jumped in front of me. "What the hell?" He asked. As the knife went directly into the unknown person's stomach. Grabbing his arm, the woman twisted it causing him to scream in pain before kicking him. I watched as she took the knife out of her stomach while the rest of them ran away. She threw the knife as it landed right at one of the men's legs. He yelled in agony and began to limp as two of the other guys helped him. I stood up slowly as the mysterious girl who saved my life stood in the exact spot watching as the men disappeared. I groaned in pain and dusted myself off. "Thanks for that. You just saved my life!" I said as she still stood in the same spot. I awkwardly stood there as the uncomfortable silence took over. "Is there a way I can repay you?" "You're welcome." She softly spoke. There was something about her voice that drew me in. She sounded exhausted and her voice held so much sadness yet it sounded like heaven to me and I was already addicted. Suddenly, I felt interested in her. I wanted to know more. "Can I get your name?" I boldly asked. She kept her back faced me and didn't say another word. I watched as she sighed and began walking away. I wanted to hear her voice, I needed to hear her voice again. I didn't know why this mysterious woman had me hooked already with just two simple words yet here I was. Before she could go any further, I grabbed her wrist causing her to gasp and me to immediately drop her hand. I stared at the girl in disbelief as the girl from the cafe stared back at me. She held her wrist in her hand and looked at the ground in panic. I looked at the woman obviously shocked by two things: She was the girl from the cafe and her skin was as cold as ice. Suddenly, I watched as her expression changed from panic to anger. "Jade. My name is Jade Dion." She introduced.
