Epilogue

“I love you, Dad! I’m running late for work so I’ll call you back once I’m off!” I said. “I love you too, son.” He said from the other end of the phone. “Be careful!” “I will!” I said before hanging up. Waving goodbye to the doorman as I ran towards my car, I quickly jumped in and slammed the door behind me. It has been two years since everything happened. My mother was arrested that night which bought a lot of media attention. Jade’s mom was finally happy that justice had been served. My dad and I reached out to Jade’s mom to apologize in which she reassured that all was well. A year ago, I flew to Savannah, Georgia to meet her. I stayed in town for a week as I met the rest of the family and even visited Jade’s grave. On my last day there, I visited Jade’s grave alone and cried. I missed her. Jade’s mother had been the kindest woman to me along with the rest of her family. They would tell me many stories about Jade and treated me like a member of their family. They would tell me how I would’ve enjoyed to meet Jade and how the both of us would’ve gotten along well. They had no idea that I was truly, madly, and deeply in love with her. After graduating, I had managed to get a job as Business Development Manager and moved to Chicago. David moved to New York as a CEO of his own company while also being engaged. Realizing that I was extremely late for a meeting, I sighed in annoyance at the traffic. “What the hell!” I yelled. I watched as a few of the cars started to drive off. The red car in front of my drove slowly as I followed behind them. I smiled brightly as I prepared to turn off to take a quicker way to work. Turning, I drove forward. Suddenly, a white car came out of nowhere crashing into the side of my car sending me flying back. The car flipped until it came to a halt. I could hear the sound of screams as I laid upside down in the car. I could hear the sirens as they got louder and louder yet I laid there with a smile on my face. I saw nothing but old memories of me from a child leading up until now. From the moment I was born, to my first word, first step, first crush, first argument, and first kiss. Jade’s face appeared causing me to laugh. “When they die they end up seeing who their real soulmate is and from there they sit back soulless wondering what could of been.” Jade’s voice said. “She was right.” I whispered. “She was my soulmate!” I smiled as I looked up to see death who stood in front of the car and shook his head. I took my last breath as everything went black. Waking up, I looked around to see that I was in a large field. The sun shines brightly as people sat around with wide smiles on their faces. Children played with one another, couples sat together with happiness on their faces, everyone was happy. This was the afterlife. I walked around as I looked at everyone with a genuine smile on my face. I kept walking until I found an empty spot and sat there. I took in a deep breath as I looked up at the rainbow. Closing my eyes, I sighed in relief. “Can I get your name?” I heard a familiar voice ask. Opening my eyes, I looked up to see a woman who stood in front of me. Her back was turned towards me as she looked elsewhere. I stared up at her without saying a word. She sighed heavily before beginning to walk away. Before she could go any further, I grabbed her wrist causing her to gasp and me to immediately drop her hand. I stared at the girl with love as she stared at me with an unreadable expression. She was the same girl that I fell in love with. Suddenly, I watched as her expression changed to happiness. “Harry. My name is Harry Evans!” I introduced. Smiling, Jade grabbed my hand and pulled me closer. I wrapped my arms around her waist as I placed my forehead against hers. “Welcome Home, baby!” She greeted before placing her lips onto mine.
