Ancient Prophetess Chapter 20

One day a community became in a danger of having people from the past attack them. The people from the past were regarded as dead people who died but refused to rest in the afterlife. This became a terrible situation for the people of Xela. They assembled in the palace of the king, king Max of Xela and complained. The king was confused for he did not know where the people of Xela gathered the information of The People From The Past. He stood from his throne and his confusion could be seen from the way he talked. Firstly he began to ask to know who started the rumour and the person that started it would face death in the full glare of the people of Xela. After the king had said this he was angry that none of the villagers came out to take responsibility of the rumour. He was angry because knew that the rumour must have been started by someone and if that person did not present himself before him and his cabinets he would be forced to invite the smeller. The smeller was the great perceiver of truth in the land of Xela. What he did was when invited to get a truth from a lie he would first began to perceive and when he had gotten the truth he would reveal it to the king or to the person that sought for it but in this case it was actually the Smeller that started the rumour but the rumour was not actually a rumour. It was a fact and this was how he got the information of the People from the past coming to attack the land and the people of Xela;

The smeller had a woman whose name was Goti and she was the apple of his eyes. He would do anything for Goti. The day he married her was the day Goti died. On that day he was about to hug her when he saw his grandfather behind his wife and when he wanted to scream the grandfather used his fist to hit Goti to the ground. Goti died instantly and that caused the fainting of the smeller. He fainted at once and the people of Xela never stopped saying sorry to him about his loss but nobody believed him when he told them that it was his late father who appeared and struck his wife to death. They felt that there was nothing like ghosts and that ghosts did not exists. Smeller tried to convince the people of Xela of what caused the death of his wife but they did not believe. Then came the rumor but before the rumor the father of Smeller appeared to him in a dream to let him know that the king of Xela, king Max was responsible for what had been happening and that soon he would begin to hear the operation of the people from the past coming to attack those in the presence. When he woke up in the morning he heard that twenty people died in twenty families in Xela land at the same time. He was caught with fear as he remembered the dream he had the night before. He went to his friend's house and narrated everything to him, but instead of his friend to keep it to himself or rather join him to seek for solution he went about talking about what he heard. Those he told also told others and it continued to circulate until it got to the ears of the king of Xela, king Max. King Max on that day demanded the presence of his people and when no one stepped out to indicate him or herself as the one that started the rumour he sent for the smeller of Xela. When the smeller arrived everybody waited to hear what he had to say but when he looked around and rested his eyes on the king of Xela he said, "But the rumour is no rumour and the person that started the rumor was right in his statement. The people from the past are coming back to attack us and there is nothing we have done about it because we believe that there are no people from the past. There are and what they do is kill those alive to increase their numbers in the past. If the present people of Xela do not right back we will all be dead before the time is right" After smeller had said these words the king turned to look at his people and then to his chiefs before he returned his face to the smeller. "I did not invite you here to tell me what you are telling me. I invited you so that you can point at the person that started this rumour so that I can use this person as an example to teach others" After the king had said this the smeller looked at the faces in front of him and to the chiefs before he said to the king, "If you are more concerned with the person that stared the rumour and not about how to stop the strange deaths in our land then you have a hand in what is happening in our land" When the smeller said this there was great murmuring and the king was shocked. The smeller had continued, not minding that he had raised eyebrows. "Yes, my father appeared to me to let me know that our king knows what is exactly happening and only him can tell us how to stop it. As for the person that started what you call rumour I did and you can do your worst" When the smeller had finished saying the king commanded for his arrest at once and he was arrested and taken to the dungeon. The king dismissed his people and went into his chamber to think alone. He was sure that Smeller was right for he was actually responsible for what was happening in the land of Xela. He could remember how it all started.

He had given birth to a son through his wife and when the son became terribly ill he had gone to several seers and healers but none of them could save his son. He was so troubled and he sought for more dangerous way of saving his son's life. He went to a witch in the river of Xela and she told him that she had the power to open the portal that connected the living and the ancestors of Xela and that when it was done he could tell the ancestors of what he needed from them. When this took place the king asked that his son should be healed and promised that he was going to be serving the river that gave birth to the portal but that was not the beginning or what started the problem in Xela land rather when the witch opened thr portal the people from the past escaped the world of the dead and entered the land of Xela.

As Smeller sat inside his cell he knew that the only way to right this wrong was to kill the king. The king also that night decided to end his life for he was aware that his death would end the problem of Xela. He had been told this by the same witch that helped him open the portal. He went to the cell where Smeller was seated and while looking at him he said. "You need not worry smeller because I already understand you and I will end it all this night. When I am dead kindly tell my son that I truly loved him and tell my people too that I care about them"

When morning came the king was seen lying dead on his bed and the problem with Xela land was solved.
