ONE
My name is Ordinary Kennedy and I'm a member of the Silver Blood pack. I go through life relatively unnoticed and find it extremely easy to blend in. Both my wolf and I have an average build, strength, with brown hair and eyes.
Vyve, my mother, can a bit eccentric at times. She named my siblings and I after her first thought upon seeing us. Blue and Angel are twins, with Blue being the eldest and only boy. Angel is the stereotypical favorite. She's beautiful, funny, and mated to the future alpha, Cayne.
Our dad was a warrior and he passed in an attack just after I was born. Judging by the photos Mom, keeps in our basement, he was madly in love with her. They were truly destined mates, and now she can’t speak his name without losing her mind. Mom was already having problems recovering from my birth, then the sudden loss of her mate sealed my fate to stay ordinary.
Without Blue, I would have no one and nothing. He knows how much I hate it here and does his best to make it tolerable. Now that he has met his mate, he just has less time to be home with me. Becca is gorgeous and perfect for him in every way.
Only being one year apart, I should also be learning all about my mate. Being nearly twenty means I would be considered late in finding my mate or maybe that they're dead... This however is not the case.
My mate, the one the Moon Goddess herself picked just for me, rejected me. Well, kinda. Anthony Jacobs, our future lead warrior, tried to reject me just before school on our last day of senior year. He and his father found me on the path I take through the woods into town. I can still hear it, as if it had just happened.
Anthony grabs my hand and instantly let go, apologizing. He looked me in the eye and said "Please forgive me, but as future Lead, I cannot give the pack any reason to not put their full faith in me. The Moon Goddess or not, I cannot be linked to your mother. Nor can I be mated so someone who is... Well... Ordinary." The pit in my stomach was so painful that my wolf forced me to snap back at him. "I, Ordinary Kennedy, reject you, Anthony Jacobs as my mate." I spat. The look of horror on his face is still engraved in my mind. As is the look of relief on his father's. Never the less, he quickly accepted before shifting and running back the direction he came.
My existence is so mundane, even our sweet Luna has trouble remembering who I am. She routinely forgets my name. Alpha on the other hand remembers me solely as the only wolf in pack history to offer to be an Omega. No one typically WANTS to be responsible for cooking and cleaning at the pack house while still having to train.
I’ll admit, it isn't ideal. I'm often so sore I can barely lift my arms above my head. Putting my hair in a pony tail is enough to put me into tears on the rough days. I’ve learned if I blare 90's country loud enough through my headphones I can't hear my own complaints. Really, ANYTHING is better than having to live with my mother. Right?
