A father’s disappointment

1078 Words
~~Zeke’s POV~~ My head was still in a whirlwind from my date with Aurora. To think just a short while ago I didn’t want anything to do with Mating. A lot of it because of my parents and their incessant need for me to hurry up and pick one. But now, after getting know Aurora and finally getting to see her in person, I know I could never live with out her in my life. I also know Castiel agrees with me, his tail has not stopped wagging since he laid eyes on her. I need to tell my parents about Aurora and as soon as possible. Hopefully the news of me finding my mate will put an end to the ridiculous masquerade ball! On the other hand it might make matters worse, my father finding out that my Fated Mate is human may just throw him over the edge. Then there was the matter of Castiel sensing a presence deep with in Aurora. I had no idea what to think of it, but Castiel was adamant that is was nothing like he has ever sensed in a human before. Maybe it was a simple an explanation as “ The Mate Bond” causing him to sense more than just her human self, or maybe it was something else. I added speaking with the elders on my long list of things to do today. Number 1 was speaking with my parents. This brought of a sigh from me and a whimper from Castiel. “ some big, tough wolf you are.” I had to tease him, which he answered with a growl. “ That’s better” I laughed. I found my Mother and Father in the main Pack-house eating breakfast. I reluctantly sat next to them. My mother looks up and smiles as she asks “ would you like anything to eat?” I shake my head no, my stomach was tied in knots and I had to just get this over with. I had come up with a little fib on how I met Aurora. If my Father knew I went on a dating app purposely seeking out a human woman he would so livid that it wouldn’t matter what else I had to say, the conversation would end right there. I decide to skip that whole and started by telling them I left the pack lands to clear my head for a little while and ended up in a near by town at a bar. Although they weren’t thrilled about this, it was easy to believe with all the pressure they had been putting on me. I then went into how I met Aurora and knew instantly, the moment I smelled her mesmerizing scent of Lavender and vanilla, she was mine. I stopped to try and get read on my parent’s emotions. They looked confused, “why was a lone she wolf at a bar in a human town?” My mom asked with her head c****d to the side. I took a deep breath to calm both Castiel and I down, as I could feeling him anxiously pacing in head. “ Because she is not a she wolf, she is human” I say matter of a factory. I see the anger rising in my father, his eyes start to glow a deep red and slams his fist down on the table. “ No! This can’t be! The moon Goddess would not pick a human for the Future Luna of My Pack, this Pack! You must be mistaken!” My father Growls causing everyone in the closest vicinity to look over at us. My Mother’s eyes a huge, I am not sure if it is fear of my father or of the news I just told her. I look to her for help, she is more reasonable than my father, but she looks down at her hands not wanting to go against her Mate. I stand up with a growl “ There is no mistake! Aurora is my Mate and our Future Luna!” I spit out between panting. My father stands up to be face to face with me. “ Then you will reject her! You will pick a more suitable Mate at the Ball!” He hisses into my face between clenched teeth. Castiel growls and fights to surface, snapping our teeth in my father’s face. “ I will never reject my Mate! The Moon Goddess herself hand picked her to lead this pack with me and I will not disrespect her or my Mate! You will have to learn to love a human!” My father’s face is contorted with anger, his wolf Gabriel is fighting to surface. “ No son of mine will have a human Mate!” He says as he stomps away. My mother looks at me with the saddest eyes “I’m sorry” she says so softly that I nearly hear her, then she turns to leave. “ Mom you need to do something, atleast meet her! She is amazing you would love her” I plead with her. I can tell she is conflicted, she knows my father will never want to meet her, but she knows I won’t give in either. “ I will try to see what I can do” she sighs. “ thank you mom, and one thing..” I say as she looks at me with questions in her eyes. “ Aurora knows nothing of our kind, but there is something different about her. She isn’t like any human I have ever met.” I say and continue to tell her about Castiel and what he feels. I catch a glimmer of hope shine in her eyes and she seems to perk up. “ speak with the elders, maybe they can give some direction about Castiel and also maybe able to guide you in explaining our kind to Aurora.” She says as she hugs me and then turns to go after my father. I was still seething about my father’s reaction even though it was exactly how I had expected it to be. How dare he insist I reject my Mate simply because she is human. Castiel tries to calm me be saying “ atleast your mom seemed more hopeful when you told her what I sensed.” He was right though, I saw it in her eyes too. Now to talk to the elders and see what they think.
