POV of writer
Jason Gorway was buried a week after he died. The investigation of his murder was assigned to Melinda Hudson, one of the best detectives in town. She had a good record and had been successful in every single investigation she had taken the lead in. The Chief of Police was the victim's older brother, so he had to find the culprit. He therefore assigned the investigation of his brother's murder to one of the best investigators he could find. After Jason's murder, a lot of truth's were revealed. He was an abusive husband and an irresponsible father. No wonder he was racist. He hated his own family, come to talk of other people who lived in the community. He cheated on his wife with several women. His two children had confessed that he constantly abused their mother. Initially, it had seemed that his wife didn't want the truth about her abusive husband to be revealed. But since her kids had already revealed the truth, she confessed that she could never have a child again because she was abused during her third pregnancy because she confronted her husband about an affair. She had a miscarriage, and the complications were so severe that she had to undergo an abdominal hysterectomy. The man was indeed a disgusting person.
The prime suspect was Jason's wife. She had motive and no alibi. First of all, someone came into their home, and killed the man of the house. There was no sign of robbery and no other person was harmed. This only meant whoever the murderer was, they were only interested in killing Jason. Probably because they held a grudge against him.
Second of all, there was no sign of a break in. Meaning the killer must've either had a key or was already in the house. And the wife in question didn't notice that someone had entered her room to kill her husband who lay right beside her. That aside, the fact that she was unhappy about her children revealing that her husband was abusive was proof that she was trying to cover up the fact that, she had motive to harm her husband. It was quite obvious that Jason's wife was the murderer. She had been treated unfairly, but killing someone was out of the question, and she had to pay for her crime. They just needed solid proof so that they could close the case.
After interrogating the family and friends of the dead cop, Melinda thought to herself, "that wasn't much of a case was it?"
The very next day, with a search warrant, Melinda and her team searched Jason's house for any physical evidence that pointed to the fact that the victim had been murdered by his wife. They searched for possible secret places where the murder weapon could've been hidden. They were also looking forward to finding any other thing that pointed to her being the culprit. Melinda went into the bedroom of the suspect and searched her closet. It was large and was divided into two sections. One part contained the belongings of the late cop whose murder was being investigated, and the other section belonged to the prime suspect. Melinda began to search through the clothing's. She found an envelope tugged behind a few clothes inside the closet. She pulled out the object from the envelope and there it was, a silencer. Even though the murder weapon wasn't found, the object they found was enough to prove that the murderer of the now dead policeman was none other than his wife.
