Slave 2: Desperate Escape I cradled Maya in my arms, tears silently streaming down my face. I couldn’t respond to her, my voice silenced by years of torture. The relentless abuse had robbed me of my ability to speak clearly, leaving me stuttering and stammering. My every attempt to utter a word was met with ridicule and mockery. That’s why I learned to suppress my voice. Eventually, I lost the ability to speak altogether. Since then, my voice had become a phantom, a ghost of a sound, lost to the world forever. Maya’s life ebbed away in my arms, leaving a mourning silent. Until a thunderous crash echoed through the night, followed by a terrifying symphony of screams and howls. My long-awaited day had dawned: the rogue attack of Moonbane Pack, my harbinger of escape from this hellish life. The day I could seize my chance for freedom. My eyes lingered on Maya’s still body with a heavyweight settling in my chest. With a silent, heartfelt goodbye, I pushed myself to stand. My heart pounded in my chest as I sprang to my feet, the adrenaline surging through my veins. The screams and howls had been blood-curdling, filled with a raw terror that sent shivers down my spine. I had foreseen this moment in my dream, and I knew exactly what to do. I ran towards the back door of the packhouse with a pounding heart in my chest. I had seen this escape route in my vision, and I knew it was my only chance for survival. Despite the cold that numbed my hands and feet, and the trembling that shook my knees, I continued to run. I ignored the chaos that was unfolding behind me. The screams, the terrifying howls, and the sounds of violence and destruction. I was focused on my goal, on escaping this hellish place. I ran through the woods, my breath coming in ragged gasps. I ran until I could run no more. I collapsed to the ground, my body throbbing with pain and exhaustion, my lungs burning. But I did not stop, I pushed myself to my feet, my determination fueled by the fear of being caught. I continued to run, deeper into the woods. I knew that I was being pursued, that the rogues were hot on my heels, but I would not let them catch me. Not until the sight of a large wolf leaping over me brought me to a halt, as the rogue blocked my way. The rogue’s menacing growl sent shivers down my spine, causing me to step back in fear. I attempted to flee in the other direction, but the rogue was too quick, cutting me off once more. I trembled, my gaze fixed on the rogue’s terrifying eyes as it let out another chilling snarl. The rogue’s fur was matted with dirt and blood, its eyes were filled with rage. I could feel its predatory gaze, its focus on me as its prey. I had not foreseen this turn of events, especially what happened next after I successfully escaped that hellish place. As the rogue leaped towards me, I felt a surge of desperation to stop it and escape. But to my astonishment, the rogue froze midair, inches away from me. It was as if time had stood still, leaving me frozen with fear and shock. I looked around, only to realize I was alone with the rogue in the heart of the forest. The rogue’s sudden immobility was a baffling sight. It was as if an invisible force had halted it in its tracks. But the sound of a wolf’s terrifying howl echoed from afar, jolting me out of my state of shock. I resumed running, my mind still reeling from the bizarre encounter. I seized the opportunity while the rogue remained frozen in midair, running as if my life depended on it. Until I could feel my body weakening, but I refused to give up. I was unsure of my location, but I knew I had distanced myself from the Moonbane Pack. Yet my legs felt numb, my lungs burned, and I struggled to breathe. My head also started to spin, and I felt my control over my body slipping away as I collapsed on the ground. As I lay on the ground, my weak body was exhausted, but I still tried to gather my strength. I was determined to keep going, to reach safety. But my body was rebelling against me, my strength dwindling with each passing moment until I lost consciousness in the middle of nowhere. Unbeknownst to me, my life would change dramatically after I woke up. *** Third Person’s Point of View In the vast expanse of the Midnight Moon Pack, patrolling warriors stumbled upon an unconscious woman lying on the ground. Her body was covered in blood, her hair disheveled, and her clothes were filthy. Despite her critical condition, they discovered she was still breathing. “Alpha! We’ve found an injured woman near the border!” Gamma Anakin, the gamma of the Midnight Moon Pack, reported to Alpha Malachi, who was patrolling a different section of the border. The alpha furrowed his brow as he pondered the location where his gamma had been patrolling. Yet a faint, intoxicating scent caught his attention, stirring his wolf within. The scent was familiar, yet elusive, a tantalizing fragrance that lingered in the air. As the alpha’s wolf stirred, its senses heightened, its nose twitching as it searched for the source of the scent. However, the alpha fought back the urge to follow his wolf’s instincts. But the scent was so intoxicating, so alluring, that it was difficult to resist, to think that it was only faint. He turned to Gamma Anakin, his voice filled with urgency. “Did you smell anything unusual near the border?” He asked. Despite being puzzled by the alpha’s questions, Gamma Anakin still shook his head. “No, alpha. Nothing that I can recall.” The alpha nodded, his mind racing. He knew that the scent was coming from somewhere nearby, but he couldn’t figure out where. The alpha shook his head, dismissing the scent. “Lead the way, Anakin,” he instructed, his voice firm and commanding. Gamma Anakin immediately guided the alpha to where he had discovered the unconscious woman. As they walked through the forest, the alpha couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease. He knew that was unusual, that it was coming from somewhere nearby. But he couldn’t pinpoint the source of the intoxicating scent until they reached the woman Gamma Anakin was talking about. Upon seeing her, he recognized the scent emanating from her. A low growl escaped his lips, startling his pack warriors, who turned to him in confusion. However, when they noticed his eyes glowing with an intense amber, they immediately understood the situation. “Call Doctor Galvin, NOW!” Gamma Anakin immediately ordered with urgency, while the alpha remained frozen in place. At that moment, they knew that their alpha’s mate had finally arrived. ***
