The Wintry Hills - My First Sub-Quest

1341 Words
25th December 1018 I was picking up my pace to reach the marker that I had dropped over at The Wintry Slopes in the minimap. Even though it was going to be a 5-mile run, but I am sure running through the brambles and such to reach the destination would be longer than one hour for sure. I had been to The Wintry Hills before, and I knew that there was a hidden crevice near the perimeter walls, and it opens up to a cave some ten feet high once a player was able to clear it. However, there was a risk for any gamers to clear the crevice, since only those petite and those who had stripped their cumbersome armour would be able to enter. No one would be in the right mind to remove their armour and enter since they would be facing the Bronze Saber Tooth Tiger. However, less than 1% of the gamers knew of this hidden crevice, and it was not shared inside the forums. There was nothing useful to be farmed over at the mountaintops. This was due because, by the time the mountain and minerals were discovered, everyone had already levelled up comfortably in their own Classes. But to me, this is the crucial stage for one to level up since I had found the loophole to be a student of the Archmage in Votrieburg City...! If I were to approach the Magistrate / Archmage Maelstorm in the later stages, I would not get such a simple sub-quest to be one...! How about that...?!?! =*= I did not meet any other gamers who were grinding or farming within the vicinity of the area as they might be busy logging off after the gamers were rebuked by their parents for playing MMORPG during Christmas. Fortunately, my Tatay is covering up for me, despite me being online for the past few hours now. I reached my destination after an hour of running, zipping across the vast lands that were made up of virgin forests. These forests would soon be harvested by the gamers who would choose to be Lifestyle gamers, and doubles as a merchant or adventurer according to their class. Since I am a Mage / Wizard Class, I do not have to waste my time to harvest the forest since I do not have any need for lumber that would be turned into handles for weapons, bucklers, bows and arrows plus other types of weapons and armours pieces. The only thing I need later would be the Staff of Magi, that I would acquire when I reach at least Level 45 and above. "Same place, different timeline. Alas, I am here in The Wintry Hills and let me retrace back near these rock walls to find the elusive crevice." "Damn, there's so much foliage cover, and the place had never even changed at all." "I should rest up and ready my pickaxe once I had found the opening to the hidden crevice." I thought to myself as I slowed myself and walked briskly around the walls. I felt around through the overhanging vines as I tried to search my memories, where I had found the elusive crevice. Alas, after searching for some minutes, I had found the hidden crevice. I entered through the hidden crevice and adjusted the foliage outside to look as if no one had touched them before. Once I had cleared inside, I was greeted by a large and high cave that would fit a party of gamers. The dark and musty smell of the cave reminded me when I had entered the place two years ago. "It is already time for me to log off and see if my family is still awake. I hope Tatay would not be mentioning me for staying away too long...!" I thought to myself as I bring up the system and clicked logout. There was a countdown for the logoff, and I waited for the timer to end before the MMORPG shuts down and bring me back to the real world. =*= I opened the lid of my gaming console and gingerly stepped out after I removed the DNA gauntlet on my forearm that would infuse me with the nutrients that I had hooked. I looked at the clock on the wall on top of my study desk, and it showed 3:23am. I opened up the bedroom door and peered outside into the living room space and discovered that the guests had long left the apartment. There was still leftover food on the table, and it was covered by an anti-pest food cover. My Tatay and Nanay were nestled in the sofa as they watched the TV in silence as they cuddled up in the airconditioned living room. I stepped out and went to the dining table to get some food when my Nanay noticed some movement in the background. "Za, I thought you would never come out from your white coffin inside the room already. We reserved the food on the table in case you got hungry. Your Tatay here had been distracting me the whole time, but I knew you had gone into that gaming capsule of yours. Za, Za... Tchick, Tchick, Tchick. I am your Nanay, and you are my only daughter. How could I not know my own daughter's behaviour, ah?" I laughed at my Nanay since there's nothing for me to retaliate and reply to her words as it was all true. Well, this was Christmas and the event would be repeated during the New Year's Eve too in a few days. As my Nanay was berating at me, I was piling some pansit on my plate along with some deep-fried nuggets and roasted chicken wings. Looking at the food that was piling on the disposable trencher, my Nanay once again chided me and this time she spoke out about binge eating. "Haaa...see lah. Hungry already come out and find food, just like a mouse. Continue eating like this, you would have a body that looked like a barrel, you know?" "Don't come crying to me when your body becomes a barrel, ah? You would be crying for your Nanay, and telling me that no boy or man wants you, by then. Huh? Huh? Huh? Haiyo... Your body looks like an ironing board, but you eat like a baboy. Hahaha...! I looked down at my chest, but I do not definitely look like an ironing board. For sure, I don't have much to flaunt right now, but I am sure to build up my physique within three months. Nanay was just exaggerating to make fun of me for food binging. "Mangyaring sumali ka sa akin, kumakain ako ngayon. Salamat lord sa pagkain ..!" I invited both my Nanay and Tatay to join me for the food that I had piled on top of the plate as I sat down and blessed the food before consuming. It was just a formality as both my Nanay and Tatay informed me to go on right ahead and not gobble the food down like an aswang...! I laughed out loud as I ate slowly and the food, even though it was not heated up, still tasted wonderful...! Hearing some commotion from the living room and the dining hall, my baby brother, suddenly poked his head out from his bedroom. "Ate, is there any more chicken wings on the table or not? I am still hungry lah, Hehehe... So how was your first day in MMORPG - The Lord Of The Red Dragon goes?" "Come here and talk lah. I can't be shouting across the room just to tell you, right? There's quite a lot of those chicken wings. By the way, is 'CHICKEN WING' one of your ID in the games that you play? Hahaha..." I was holding to one of the roasted chicken wings and gesturing to Zairon to come over. "I heard Nanay calling you 'IRONING BOARD', it must be your nick too right in MMORPG - The Lord Of Red Dragon? Muaa Haa Haa Haa...!!!" This idiotic brother of mine deserved to get pummelled. Don't worry, I would definitely get my revenge sooner than he thinks.
