TO BE honest, I'm not really a nerd. I'm just a person that enjoys learning, taking part in educational activities and actually getting a good future for themselves.
Actually – yes. I am a nerd.
But I can't help it. I was brought up in a household of achievers – my mom and dad are both architects, working around the globe to design complex, yet beautiful buildings. Even my younger brother, Marcus, is an achiever – he's the captain of his school's football team, and he's only eight.
Anyway, I was looking through my locker, when I found a book on astrology, along with a note saying 'a book for the biggest nerd at school. You're welcome. —Dylan.'
Dylan Jase was the 'bad boy' of my school, as well as my biggest bully. We actually used to be friends, until puberty hit him and he became popular.
Puberty hit me, but that didn't do much since I was still pretty much at the lowest point of my school's social ladder.
"You should just ignore that asshole. He has nothing better to do with his time, clearly." I heard a voice say, and immediately recognized it to belong to my best friend, James.
"That's what I do everyday, James." I pointed out.
"Yes, but not only do you ignore him, you let him walk all over you." James told me.
"Didn't you just say to ignore him?" I asked, because I was now really confused.
James shook his head, as if he was confused, too. Not only was James my best friend, he was my only friend, since he's the only one at this school who actually bothered to talk to me.
What a messed up school – I know.
"Shoot, I need to pop to my locker quickly. Could you wait here for me to get back?" James asked.
In return, I nodded, so with that - James walked off to his locker.
I carried on looking through mine, ignoring the book and the note I received from Dylan.
I managed to get out a few books, as well as my homework binder and a few pens. I stored it all in my backpack, which I – thankfully – kept stored in my locker as well.
I swung the grey backpack onto my shoulders, and closed my locker. I leaned against it, letting my hair droop to the front of my face, as I looked down at my reading book.
"Well, look at what we have here. Not reading that book I got for you, huh?" I heard someone say.
I looked up and brushed my brown hair away from my eyes to see Dylan and his two friends, Callum and Harry, standing there - smirking at me.
Dylan grabbed my book away from my hands, before throwing it far into the distance and started laughing once he turned his attention back to me.
"I know you're a massive nerd, but since my make-out spot is unfortunately your locker, I decided to take that away from you. Don't go crying too much." Dylan mocked me.
He walked away, spudding and high-fiving jocks and cheerleaders as he walked away from me.
"Mase, seriously man. You literally let that d**k walk to all over you." James said as he walked up to me.
I noticed that he now had his backpack on his shoulders, clearly successful from his locker trip.
"Well, there's not much I can do. It's me against the school." I shrugged, looking around the hallway.
"Oi, dork!" I heard someone from behind me shout.
I turned around to see who the voice belonged to, and saw it was Emily Andrews voice.
Emily Andrews was the 'bad girl' of our school. If Emily were to date Dylan, they would probably be one of the most known couples in the entire town.
It's quite obvious Dylan wants to make a move on Emily, but his massive ego won't let him admit to it. That, and the fact he knows Emily would reject him in a heartbeat.
I began looking around to see who Emily was aiming her 'greeting' towards, until she said something that made every pair of eyes around us bulge.
"Yes, I'm talking to you." She sighed, her brown eyes looking straight into my blue eyes.
"Oh." I stuttered.
She moved closer towards me, smirking as I tried walking backwards. Unfortunately, I failed since I was just going nowhere, thanks to the lockers.
I looked to my left to see James there with his eyes, literally looking like their about to pop out of his sockets and his jaw dropped so low, I was scared it might be dislocated.
"I don't know if you realized, but there are a row of lockers currently behind you." Emily pointed out, chuckling as my face started heating up. "Oh, and I believe this belongs to you."
She handed over the book I was reading earlier – the very book Dylan threw and the book I thought I would never see again. This time, it was my jaw that dropped.
Only, Emily grabbed my chin gently, and closed it. My chin still tingled from her touch – as if her palm still lingered there, however weird that may sound.
"Aw, you're so cute when your clueless." Emily giggled as she studied my face.
A weird feeling erupted inside me – one that I can only describe as utter nervousness.
I wasn't used to this much attention – especially from one of the most popular girls at school. What made her come up to me is still a mystery, but I'm sure it must be something wacky.
I opened my mouth, attempting to say something, but the words didn't want to find their way out.
Emily smirked at me, before grabbing the collar of my shirt and leaning in. Her lips met mine as she started slowly moving her lips against mine.
I didn't react to it; I couldn't – I was frozen. Eventually her hands left from the collar of my shirt, and met my hair, as she slowly started tugging on them once I finally started responding.
A low moan escaped my lips – which encouraged Emily to intensify the kiss. She licked my bottom lip, asking for entrance.
I don't know where the sudden boost of confidence came from, but I parted my mouth open, allowing Emily's tongue to explore my mouth. Her tongue touched mine, and I flinched at the foreign feeling. She just smiled, and carried on what she was doing.
I decided to place my hands on her waist, but I was surprised when she suddenly ripped away from me.
"You're one good kisser, Mason Anderson." Emily blew a kiss at me and winked before she started walking away with her friends.
I stared into the distance as I thought about the event that just occurred.
What the hell did I just do?
