THE BREAK UP
CHAPTER ONE
Emily and Jake had been together for three years. They had met in college and had been inseparable ever since. But lately, things had been strained between them. Jake had been critical of Emily's weight, and Emily had been feeling self-conscious and insecure.
One night, they got into an argument. Jake made a comment about Emily's appearance, and Emily had had enough.
"How can you say that to me?" Emily asked, tears streaming down her face. "Don't you love me for who I am?"
Jake sighed. "Of course I love you, Emily. But I just wish you would take care of yourself. You deserve to be happy and healthy."
Emily felt a sting from his words. "You're not happy with me the way I am?" she asked.
Jake hesitated. "I just think you have so much potential, Emily. And I want to see you reach it."
Emily felt a lump form in her throat. "I think we're done," she said, her voice shaking.
Jake looked at her in surprise. "What do you mean?" he asked.
"I mean, I think we're done," Emily repeated. "I deserve better than someone who doesn't love me for who I am."
Jake sighed. "Fine," he said. "If that's how you feel, then maybe we are done."
And with that, Emily and Jake broke up.
Chapter 2: The Aftermath
Emily was devastated after the break-up. She had given Jake her heart, and he had crushed it. She spent days in bed, crying and feeling sorry for herself.
But as the days turned into weeks, Emily began to realize that she was better off without Jake. She started to focus on herself, eating healthy and exercising regularly. She started to pursue her passions, and she even started taking classes at a local art studio.
As Emily looked in the mirror, she barely recognized the person staring back at her. She was confident, strong, and beautiful.
And she knew that she owed it all to herself.
Chapter 3: The Closure
Months went by, and Emily and Jake barely spoke. Emily was too busy focusing on herself, and Jake was too busy trying to win her back.
But one day, Jake showed up at Emily's doorstep, apologizing for his past mistakes. Emily listened to him, but she wasn't interested in getting back together.
"I appreciate your apology, Jake," Emily said. "But I'm happy now. I'm happy with myself, and I don't need you to make me whole."
Jake looked at her in surprise. "You're really happy?" he asked.
Emily nodded. "Yes, I'm really happy. And I think you should be happy for me too."
Jake smiled, and for the first time, Emily saw a glimmer of genuine happiness in his eyes.
"I am happy for you, Emily," Jake said. "You deserve it."
And with that, Emily and Jake finally had closure. They parted ways, but this time, it was for good.
