CHAPTER 8 | PREPARATION FOR THE REVANGE

Angela was trying to get Bill’s identity & address. But that was not a cup of tea! Angela hadn’t met Bill for several years, she didn’t know anything about him. Angela found Bill’s phone number in that old hospital’s entry book but that number was unreachable. Angela was so stressed out about this.

“ What should I do? How can I find Bill’s address or phone number? Oh God! Please help me.”

“ How about calling dad & asking him about Bill? No… no, that would be suspicious! Dad will tell Bill & Bill will catch me just in a second! I have to look for another option.”

Angela was walking around & thinking about how she could find Bill. Her nerves began to fray again. After a while, she found an idea.

“How about I try to call all the doctors & staff of that hospital! I can find the numbers in the register book. I don’t know how much this idea will work but at least I can try!”

Angela again went to the basement & took the entry book. Then she sat on the couch & started to call the doctors one by one. Some numbers were out of reach & some doctors didn’t pick up the phone.

“ Oh no! It looks like this idea is going to fail. I called all the doctors at that hospital. Now I have checked the numbers of the nurses.”

This time Angela was lucky. She called the first nurse on the list. Her name was Lisa. The call was ongoing.

“ Hello! Is this Mrs. Lisa speaking?”

“Yeah, I’m Lisa. Who are you?”

“ Hello, Mrs. Lisa. I’m Angela. I’m a doctor from We Care hospital.”

“ Ok I understand. So how can I help you, doctor Angela?”

“You were the nurse at Green Life Hospital, am I right?”

“Yes, but how could you know?”

“I checked the register of the hospital. There I found your name. Actually, I need some information about a doctor of Green Life Hospital. Can we meet in person? Please, this is very important for me.”

“Hmm… okay, I will meet with you. We can meet at the Café Rio near my house. You know the address of Café Rio?”

“ Yes, yes, I know the address. Thank you for your help. See you tomorrow Mrs. Lisa.”

Angela was so pleased after finding someone who could give her information about Bill. It was her first victory. Her nerves started to become normal.

The Next Day:

Angela went to Café Rio. She arrived there before the lady came because Angela didn’t want to be late for such important work. After waiting for a few minutes, Angela saw a lady who was looking for someone.

“ Excuse me! Are you Mrs. Lisa?”

“Yeah, I’m. You must be, Doctor Angela?”

“Yes, I’m doctor Angela. Let’s go, we sit down and discuss.”

Angela & Mrs. Lisa went to their table. They sat down. A waiter came & asked for the order.

“ Hello, mam. Welcome to our café. What would you like to order?”

“ Mrs. Lisa, what would you like to order? Please tell me.”

“ I will only have a cup of coffee, dear. I ate my breakfast.”

“ OK, please bring a cup of coffee for the two of us.”

“Alright, mam. I will be here with your order.”

The waiter left. Angela & Mrs. Lisa started their conversation.

“So, Angela, you told me that you wanted to know about a doctor. Who is the doctor?”

“ Yes, I want to know about doctor Bill Mulgannon. I really want his address or identity.”

“Bill Mulgannon? That piece of junk! What do you do with his address?”

“Actually, he is my step-brother. I hadn’t met with him for several years. So, I don’t know anything about him. Now I need his address for urgent work. I also want to know about his character, like what kind of doctor he was and many other details.”

“Oh I understand. To be honest, I don’t want to talk about that piece of junk, but you’re like my daughter & I respect your request. Bill Mulgannon was the most annoying & heartless doctor I have ever seen in my life. He was a greedy person too. I don’t know how he became a doctor, he was like a mafia more than a doctor!”

Mrs. Lisa took a break. “ It’s about 15 years ago, when I was a nurse at Green Life Hospital, doctor Bill was shifted to our hospital. He was also the co-head of the hospital at that time. We had to obey him, obey his annoying rules. He was an unscrupulous man. He misbehaved with everyone. If any of the employees made the slightest mistake, he would insult him a lot and even throw him out of the job. In following him, some ideal doctors became unethical like him…

The waiter came with the coffee & interrupted in the middle of the discussion. “ Here are two delicious cappuccinos. Enjoy!”

Angela & Mrs. Lisa took the cup of coffee & began to drink the coffee. Mrs. Lisa started again.

“He had the power, so none of us had the courage to go against him or complain about him. This was how he made our life miserable.!”

“So what happened to him later when the hospital was closed? And what was the reason for closing the hospital forever?” Angela asked, pretending not to know anything.

“ It’s a long story. The reason is very tragic. 15 years ago, something very inhumane happened in that hospital. That was the saddest day of my career! A boy & his siblings came with his mother to the hospital at midnight. His mother was very sick. He said she had serious pneumonia & his mother needed immediate treatment. Doctor Bill, as usual, said to the boy that he had to pay the cost of the treatment, then he had to start the treatment. The boy was poor. He didn’t have the money. So he went here & there to get some money for his mom’s treatment. I felt very pity. I even said to doctor Bill that at least we should book a cabin for his mother & give him some temporary medicine. But Doctor Bill yelled at me & threatened to fire me. Meanwhile, the boy came with some money & asked doctor Bill to start the treatment, but he didn’t. That greedy person wanted the full amount of money.”

Tears came out of Mrs. Lisa’s eyes. She said in a tearful voice. “ The boy went somewhere again to arrange the money. I was standing & thinking about how heartless a person would be! I really wanted to help but I was a single mom, I had to feed my daughter so I couldn’t lose my job. His mother’s condition was getting worse. This time the boy came & grabbed doctor Bill’s feet. He was begging to save his mother. He was crying. But alas! It was too late. His sister came & said that their mother was not moving. The boy & I rushed to the corridor. I checked his mom’s pulse. I was froze. The boy was asking me what happened to his mom. I couldn’t control my tears. I slowly turned around and said to him that his mother was no more. The boy was shocked & he started to cry. I was also crying. I felt guilty, I felt ashamed of myself. I left from there. From that day, I decided that I would never work as a nurse because I failed to help people!”

Mrs. Lisa was crying. Angela somehow controlled herself, stopped her tears coming out of her eyes.

“The next day was even worse! We heard that the boy & his siblings committed suicide. The police found a suicide not where the boy said that he & his siblings committed suicide because they couldn’t afford the treatment of his mother. Doctor Bill didn’t do the treatment & because of that his mother died. Doctor Bill was responsible for everything. Words of Dr. Bill’s deed reached everywhere. The incident caused outrage in people's minds. But he was not judged because he was under great power. The head of the hospital transferred Bill to another hospital without handing him over to the police.”

“Do you know to which hospital Bill was shifted?”

“Yeah, I know. I remember that day when I was going to the head of the hospital. I was about to give him my resignation letter. I heard that Doctor Bill was talking with the head. The head said to Bill that he was going to be shifted to Bayhealth Community Hospital in New York. If you are looking for Bill, you can check there.”

“ Oh my gosh! Really? Thank you so much Mrs. Lisa for your help. Thank you for giving me your precious time.”

“ You’re welcome dear. Now I have to leave. I have work at home.”

“ Yeah, me too. Good bye Mrs. Lisa.”

“ Good bye.”

Angela left the café & got into her car. While she was driving, she again felt dizzy several times. Lisa’s words kept ringing in Angela’s ears. Angela is unsettled to hear again what happened that night with Andrew. Angela was crossing a deserted road. Suddenly, she stopped the car. She was having a panic attack. She closed all the glasses of car & started to cry. Angela screamed and cried for a long time. About 15 minutes later, Angela was back again in her normal senses & started to drive towards home.

Angela went home and saw that Andrew was waiting for her. He was sitting on the couch.

“ Hey darling, where did you go?” Andrew asked.

“ I went to the Café Rio to meet with a nurse. We discussed some important things.”

“ Oh I see. I saw you last night. You were working so hard on your hospital project.”

“ You saw? It means you appeared last night?”

“ Yeah, I appeared in your room last night. I saw my beautiful darling was working. I hope that you & your team will win the project.”

“Thank you, baby. I hope the same, we are working really hard on this project.”

“Of course. You will win! I just believe in you.”

Andrew got closer to Angela & embraced her. It made Angela feel so pleased when Andrew embraced her. But one thing that she knew was that she had to be more careful when she had to get information about Bill. If anyhow Andrew had found out about the plan of revenge, he'd never let Angela do anything.

“ Andrew, can I ask you about something?”

“Sure, honey! What’s the matter?”

“ You often disappear somewhere. Where do you go?”

“Oh about that, that’s a secret, Angela.”

“A secret? You’re keeping secrets with me? That’s not fair! There is no secrets in love, you know that.”

“Yeah baby, I know that. But I will reveal the secret at the right time.”

“How many days? How many months? How many years? When will you reveal the secret? Please tell me what the secret is.”

“Just relax, my love! OK, I will tell you in a few days. Like a surprise, till then you have some patients.” Andrew kissed Angela’s cheek.

“ OK, I’m waiting.”

Andrew wasn’t at home. Angela opened her laptop screen & reached the Bayhealth Community Hospital website. She had reached the doctors' list but she didn’t find it on the website. So, Angela decided to call the hospital’s number.

The hospital reception phone rang. The receptionist picked up the phone.

“Hello. This is Bayhealth Community Hospital reception. How can I help you?” a girl said.

“Hello. I’m looking for a doctor's appointment.”

“Can you please tell me the doctor’s name? I will connect to the phone.”

“ Yeah, his name is Bill. Dr. Bill Mulgannon.”

“ OK, let me check whether Sir is here or not.”

Angela was holding the call & waiting. A few minutes later, the receptionist said,

“ Sorry mam! Dr. Bill had just left the hospital a few minutes ago. His shift is over.”

“Ok no problem. Can you give me his phone number? I will talk to him personally later & make an appointment.

“Yeah sure. Please note the number!”

Angela noted the number in a notebook. Then she hung up the call. Her blood was getting warm because she thought she had to talk to Bill. But she had to do it for Andrew. Angela dialed Bill’s number. She was trembling. Bill didn’t pick up the phone that time.

The Next Early Morning:

Angela woke up. She didn’t sleep very well at night. Angela was resting, she wasn’t feeling well. Angela is suffering from intense stress. Andrew entered Angela’s room & called her.

“Angela, my love. Are you sleeping?”

“ No dear, I am just taking a rest. I didn’t sleep very well at night, so I don’t feel well.”

“Oh Angela! I have told you several times that you have to take care of yourself, of your health. I know the baby project is so important, but your health is more important than that. Please take care of yourself. If you need to take some medicine, a doctor’s recommendation.

“ Medicine? Oh no!” Angela remembered that she hadn’t taken her medicine for her trauma & to cure a panic attack for a very long time.

“ What happened, Angela?”

“Oh, I remember that I hadn’t taken my Vitamin-D pills for a long time. Now I understand why I’m feeling not good for past couple of months, because I have a lack of Vitamin-D.” Angela hides her trauma medicine secret from Andrew.

“See, you are so irresponsible to your health.”

“ Yeah you’re right. I have to buy my medicine.”

“ By the way, I have something to show you that will make you feel happy. Take a look.”

Andrew was holding an old photo. Andrew’s family members are in the picture. Andrew, his mother, father, two younger brothers and sister. Angela was surprised & became very emotional after seeing the picture.

“What a sweet family! Where did you get this picture, Andrew?”

“You remember Angela about the secret I wanted to reveal to you? Let’s go today. I’m going to tell you my secret.”

“Today I went to the small house where I lived while I was alive, the house where I died. There I got the picture. That’s the secret. Every day I disappear to check my house & to spend some time there.”

“ Really! Is your house still there?”

“ Yes. It is still there. I don’t let anyone get there. Once, a man came & he bought it forcefully but I chased him away with great fear.”

“ I want to go there. Please take me there. I want to see your house.”

“But you look tired, Angela. Let me take you tomorrow.”

“No, please. I want to go now. Trust me, I’m not tired.”

“Okay, okay my queen . Let’s go”

Andrew & Angela were walking towards an old road. Angela didn’t know about that road, it was a new place to her. She was very excited.

“How far is it, Andrew?”

“Well, you’ll see in a few minutes.”

After walking for a few minutes, Andrew & Angela reached that house. The little house is very old. This is where Andrew lived with his whole family 15 years ago, this is where Andrew was born & raised. And this is where Andrew’s life ends. So many beautiful memories are associated with this house. Angela could see everything with her own eyes.

Angela was watching little Andrew go to school, playing in the open space in front of the house. Angela was watching Andrew play with his little siblings. Angela was looking at a beautiful happy family, they were smiling. Everything seemed alive to her. But a few moments later, Angela saw Andrew and his siblings dying in agony, dying of poison. Angela’s blood was again getting warm. Angela had to take revenge anyhow.

“You see my secret. How do you feel, Angela?”

“I wish I could stay at your house as your wife & save you and everyone!”

Andrew remained silent. His eyes were teary. He became emotional & embraced Angela.

“Let’s go home now, my love.” Said Andrew.

“Oh, baby, you go home. I have to buy my medicine. I’m not feeling well. You go & wait for me, I’m coming.”

“Ok no problem. I will stay here for a few hours & spend some time here. You buy your medicine, go home & take some rest. I will appear again.”

“Ok. See you later.”

Angela walked to the medical store. Her mental condition was getting out of control. After walking for 10 minutes, Angela went to the medical store. Then she came back with her medicine. She tore the name cover of the medicine bottle.

“Thank God, I noticed it! I have to tear it up otherwise Andrew will know that this is a medicine to cure a panic attack.”

Angela went home. She took her pills. Then, she drank some water. She felt so exhausted, she sat on the couch. She was staring at the ceiling.

“I will give you justice, Andrew. I will give it to you very soon!” Angela whispered.

Conversation with Bill:

Angela’s mobile was on the table. Angela was staring at the mobile. She was trembling. She took her pills & took a deep breath. Then she called Bill again. The call was ongoing.

“Hello! Is Bill Mulgannon speaking?”

“Yeah. I’m Bill Mulgannon. Who are you?” Bill's deep voice sounded terrifying to Angela.

“Didn’t you recognize me? I’m Angela.” Angela tried to stay in control & continue the conversation.

“Oh… you! After so many years, what’s the reason for calling me?”

“It’s an important matter. If you are free now, then we’ll discuss it.”

“What is the important matter that caused you to call me?”

“I will tell you. Are you free now?”

“Yeah. Go ahead & tell me I don’t have enough time.”

“Okay. Do you remember the property dad gave to me?”

“ About that! Yeah, how could I forget that? I wanted that property! But you…”

“Just chill. I want to tell you that I want to sell that property to you. If you are still interested in that!”

“What? You want to sell your property to me? Listen, if you want to joke with me, hang up the phone right now! I don’t have time joking with you!”

“ I’m not interested in joking with you! I felt bad. I know how badly you wanted that property & besides, recently I bought a new property, but that is no use for me. So, I decided to sell it to you.

“Really? OK, I understand that you’re serious about this matter. I have to come & I have to talk to you personally. Where are you living now?”

“I’m in Florida now.”

“That’s great! Next week, I have to come to Florida for some urgent work. Than we’ll meet up.”

“Ok. I have no problem. See you soon.”

Angela hung up the phone. Her plan was successful. Angela was laughing loudly.

“At least the cunning fox is in my trap! Bill Mulgannon, do you think you’re too smart? Alas! You’re a big greedy fool! I know that you were dying to get that property. So I just used your weakness as my sword! Ha-ha-ha…

Angela was laughing like a psychopath. Suddenly, Andrew appeared in the room & saw Angela’s strange behavior.

“Why is she laughing like that? Like a psychopath! I haven't seen her laughing like this before,” Andrew thought.

“Hey darling! What the matter? You seemed very happy. Why are you laughing like that?”

“Oh baby! You. Laughing… oh yes, I was talking with my friend Olivia, she told me a very funny joke. That’s why I was laughing so much.”

“Really? Hey Angela, I noticed that there is a strange change in your behavior. Is everything OK? Are you hiding something from me?”

“Yes, baby. Please stop over-thinking about me. I’m alright. Just relax! Why should I hide something from you? Come on, let’s go to my room.”

Angela walked out & went upstairs. Andrew was still standing & staring at Angela. He was thinking,

“Wired! She is getting weird every day. She is no longer that sweet Angela, whom I met & loved. I’m definitely sure that she is hiding something. What’s going on? I have to find out!”
