ARIELLE'S POV As the ladies stood in front of me with their hands clasped together, I shuddered, wondering exactly what they were up to. The sight of them alone gave me chills. I swallowed hard, my eyes Flickering recklessly like it was controlled by a switch. "Hello, how may I help you?" I asked when they made no effort to speak after almost a minute. I glared right at them, pretending like their presence didn't scare the s**t out of me. I had learnt a long time before now not to allow my fears get the better of me, no matter the situation I find myself in. One of them cleared her throat. It was the one in the middle. I needed no one to tell me she was the leader of the squad. She looked the most saucy and quite unfriendly. She stared at me from head to toe and then burst into laughter. The others joined in almost immediately, leaving me confused. My brows furrowed as I wondered what was exciting to make them laugh the way they were laughing. Unable to control my surprise and confusion, I spoke up. "Did I say anything funny?" "Do you still have to ask because everything you're doing and saying is quite funny. You've got to explain to us why you're acting so foolish." "I'm not acting foolish. If you don't have anything you want to say, you should take your leave now, got it?" I snapped and made to leave from their midst. Before I could leave an inch, they pulled me back, causing me to fall down. "Oh my goodness!! You're extremely weak," another said, laughing hysterically. I stared hard at them as I sat on the floor, my hands Clenched into fists. I felt so upset and wanted to punch them across the face. I rose to my feet with bated breath, my eyes fixed on them. "You stare like you can do anything to us." "I don't have time for this with you all. I don't. Take your leave or let me leave," my voice was fierce and filled with Great anger. "We'll let you but on one condition. Are you willing to do what we ask of you?" I sneered, Rolling my eyes with disdain. "Go on! Spill it out…" "Stay away from Derek. Stay the hell away from him." "And what's your problem with me getting closer to Derek? Does he have a problem with it or did he come to complain to you? Perhaps you've got nothing useful to do with your time and that's why you're here." Their faces turned sour and I could feel the anger that swept through them. I remained Unperturbed, my eyes Still fixed on them. "Did you even take out time to view yourself in the mirror? You look so fat and terrible and I wonder how Derek is able to cope being with you. The poor boy must be suffocating so much." Their words stung me but instead of letting it get to me, I smiled, shoved one of them to the side and walked off. I'm sure they didn't see that coming at all. I was pleased with myself as I found my way to my seat. Seconds later and they were trailing towards me like a swarm of bees to a bee hive. I Clenched my hands into fists, ready for whatever drama they Wanted to play out. They stood in front of me and were about to present when the door to the flung opened, revealing the math teacher. They were shocked and disappeared without a trace. I scoffed, digging my notes from my bag. The math teacher had a thick frown on his face, enough affirmation that the day's class was going to be turbulent. Derek and his friends walked in almost immediately, smiling like the happy kids they were. A smile broke on my lips as my gaze rested on Derek. He looked more handsome than I had ever known him to be or perhaps it was the feeling of love that was quickly engulfing me. "Are you a new student?" The teacher flung a question at Derek who remained undisturbed. "Sorry but are you a new teacher because if you aren't, then you should know me. Who doesn't know me in this school?" The entire class erupted in laughter, including myself even though I found it rude that he spoke to the teacher in that manner. The teacher smiled at him, snapped his finger and turned towards the board. "It's obvious you don't want to stay in this class but I'll give you a chance. You are to answer this question. If you give a wrong answer, then you would have to leave the class…" "And if I answer it correctly, what will you do in return?" "You'll gain entry into my class." "No, I don't want that. That's quite an easy task and goodness knows I don't undertake things that are easy to tackle. If I answer your question correctly, then you would get yourself out of the class, agreed?" The teacher's face lit up in shock. I could see he wanted to speak but somehow changed his head. He nodded in agreement and went on to ask his question. "So simple a question?" Derek sneered with his friends cheering up. "The answer is ten raised to the power of five." The teacher froze. He couldn't believe Derek could answer such complicated questions in seconds. Without uttering a word, he picked his books and dashed out of the class. The entire populace rose in excitement, cheering and hailing Derek who did nothing but smile at them. Our gaze met again and this time, he knew something all wasn't cool. He walked towards us, worried." "What's the problem, Arielle? Why do you have this look on your face?" His voice was Quaky and melted my heart. I had never heard him sound as cool and gentle as he did at that moment. "You! You're the problem!" I slammed, taking me off guard. He pulled me off with him at Once.
