Chapter 16: Deadly Challenges Part 1

Lexi

Since mating Kyan, our love had grown; I was in Volterra visiting my parents when I was told about the challenge by Roman, and my heart sank. I trusted my mate, but I knew the kind of person Roman truly was; he hurt many people, and I couldn't wait for everyone he had hurt to be avenged. I hugged my father and Mother and headed back to Dartmouth Kingdom, where the challenge would be held in a few days. Kyan has been training with his father a lot, but I still felt uneasy; I was afraid to lose another mate at the hands of Roman. Roman killed my first mate because he wanted me in his bed, and I refused; he killed my mate in front of me to prove a point, and then he raped me. I left there at the first opportunity and never looked back until the Supremes returned; I had fled to Vampora, as it was closer to his territory and served as a sanctuary for what Roman deemed unworthy to be in his Kingdom.

Queen Marion will be in attendance; she was considered my aunt from a young age, and I grew up with Princess Drucilla. I was hurt when she was killed, but I knew that Addison was in good hands as her power increased since being mated to Gamma Ty. I wasn't sure if Uncle Dragu would attend, as he stays home when Marion is out; very few people interact with him because of his shyness, but don't be fooled, he is not one to play with. I got a sense of dread, knowing that the war was closer than we anticipated, and it took us years to get our chess pieces in place for when the time came. I watched Kyan for days, getting better at his fighting, and everyone thought he was ready; I smiled because I trusted my man, but it was his stepfather I didn't trust. Roman was a snake, and I knew he would try to win this challenge by any means necessary.

After a long day, I went with Kyan to our room, and he sensed I was worried, he asked, "What's wrong, my love?" I told him, "I don't trust your father to play fair, babe; he could seriously hurt you, you know how he gets." He smiled and took his clothes off to go shower and said, "He won't play fair, that's for sure; he was desperate, so that's why Addy tied me to my father's immortality temporarily so he can't kill me, it's not like I need it, I can win, he is a weak wolf." I felt a little better after that, and he picked me up and took me to the shower with him, saying, "You will be my Queen, sweetheart," closing the bathroom door where we had f****d in the shower before joining the others as the crowd started to gather for the challenge tomorrow.

Morning of the Challenge

I woke up in Kyan's arms; he was wide awake, and I kissed his lips, and he said, "I know this is going to be hard to watch, but you don't have to be at ringside if you can't stomach it." I looked at him and said, "I won't miss it for the world," and we made love to each other before heading down for breakfast. The Palace was full of friends and allies, and Kyan met up with Drax to finalize the last-minute strategy. I wanted to see Aidan before getting ready for the fight, and I knew he was with friends; I walked in on a conversation between King Dominic and Aidan about my man and his daughter. I growled, they laughed and turned to me; Dominic said, "Don't worry, it appears you are more her type than Kyan."

I bowed and said, "Sorry, I didn't mean to barge in on the conversation, but I wanted to ask you something, Your Majesty, if you allow it," Aidan said, "You are my daughter-in-law, Lexi, ask away." "I am worried about Kyan, Roman is not going to be fair, and he is not immortal like you," he cut me off as Dominic smiled and said, "Nothing will happen to Kyan, he is tied to his father temporarily, he won't die, and if he did, I think his dad could bring him back." I felt relieved before I hugged Aidan and left; I was able to breathe a little more freely, knowing my baby would be okay. It dawned on me that I would be Queen of Dartmouth Kingdom in the end; I wasn't sure I was prepared for it, but I was sure about being at Kyan's side always.

I met up with Issy, who held my hand, and we headed toward the arena; however, I wanted to see Kyan first when she said, "I need to go get Sophia." I smiled because something was off with Sophia, but I didn't want to worry anyone; Fallon looked at me when I saw Issy bringing Sophia toward us, Kyan hugged her, and I felt the brotherly love he had for her. He loved his sisters and would kill enemies for them; Sophia looked lost when no one was watching, even Lily knew something was up yesterday when they brought the kids over and had a pool day. Kyan pulled me into a passionate kiss, my heart heavy, and he whispered, "I love you, Lexi; trust in me and my father, we got this." I watched Kyan head down to the cage and Fallon hand me water and said, "He got this, I know Kyan, he is our next king," and with that, I was okay.

Roman

When I got up, Esmerelda was in my bed; I had gotten drunk again, I had killed one of my men, f****d an omega, and my daughter was back with her husband. Hopefully, I will get my Kingdom back before she leaves; I need to fix things with her so I can drag Lily's ass back. I felt a mark on my neck, and I ran to the bathroom, realizing that Esmerelda and I marked each other, "f**k," but this would be a good thing. After I kill Ares, Lily could be my w***e on the side, since she likes being a w***e for other men; I hope the news about the pup she is carrying is mine and not Ares, because I will kill that pup. My wolf, Troy, was also nagging me about whether Kyan was ours because no son of ours would go against us like this; maybe Lily rubbed off on him, too much, and I needed to knock him down a peg.

I was on my way to the arena to fight my son for my crown; I would end this madness and would kill all who plotted my demise as King. Esmerelda was next to me, as she was now my chosen; Troy didn't want her, but she kept him calm, and I must admit we make one hell of a team. She was also a good f**k and kept me satisfied; this hunger I felt, she calmed the beast inside me, because he wanted blood for Lily's betrayal. We loved her and still do; Esmi was able to acquire a potion, which made me stronger, so I could beat Kyan; it's not like I needed the potion, but that was to ensure I didn't lose. Kyan seems stronger, and I'm starting to have doubts that he is mine; I know I can beat him, but I don't trust him anymore.

If he weren't my son, that would break me as I love him so much, but he needs to know his place, my wolf asked, "But what if he is Aidan's son?" I wondered if he was my son or not; I cleared my mind as Esmerelda said, "You will win, you got this, and we can rule the Kingdom like it should be ruled," "Power-hungry b***h," I thought. We pulled up and walked to the dressing room to prepare; I smelled Lily and turned around to see her hanging off Ares's arm with Michelle on his other arm. That fucker has two mates; I was furious and walked over to them as his men blocked me, and I yelled, "Is that pup mine, Lily?" Ares smiled, and Lily said, "No, it's my mate's pup," and then I saw Ares's mark on her neck; they mated and marked each other. I was furious, but Esmeralda also had my mark; what a weave we had spun, but I will break Lily down to nothing when I am done here.

Sophie was quiet, but there was something strange about her, and I blew it off as I hadn't seen her in a long time, and I would visit my grandkids after this mess with Kyan. It was time, and I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous; I walked down the hall before I overheard Cayden saying, "Aidan will kill him, not you," and I shook my head as I saw Cayden laugh. I asked, "What did you say?" He said, "I told this omega, Ares will kill him if he gets the drink order wrong; shouldn't you be in the ring now?" I shook my head at him before I walked away; I was losing my mind, but I needed to focus, or I would lose everything, and that couldn't happen. The arena was huge, and a lot of allies from both our sides were there, even King Dominic, which was shocking, as he hardly left his territory and would be a great ally if he would entertain me for once.

Queen Marion was also in attendance, along with Elijah and King Emile; I was shocked, as so many kings were in attendance. Some I hadn't spoken to in years, but they were here in Ares's corner, and I needed to end him and fast; I was losing favor with the people. This seemed to be a bigger occasion than I thought; I heard the crowd cheer as Kyan entered the ring with Ares in his corner, and I was furious; was my son stupid? King Barron smiled at me like he had won the lottery before raising a glass of champagne at me, and boy, I hated that guy, but it was not about him today. Ryker was also in attendance after years of not speaking to me, but I knew I could have him on my side again; I just needed to deal with Kyan first. Kyan's Beta, Fallon, was with Lexi in the VIP, watching in anticipation with Michelle, Lily, and Issy.

Prince Michael read the rules; I could see his disgust for me, and I wished someone had killed him years ago. Cayden would have been at my beck and call, doing my bidding. He was just a f*****g dumb mute with too much power as his brother's second-in-command. We were allowed to fight to submission but not kill each other; as Kyan looked at me with determination in his eyes, the Elders gave their blessing, and it was time to fight. I looked up at Lily again; she looked at me with disgust, rubbing her baby bump, and I was going to have her in my bed again, and this time, she would never leave. Kyan looked at me, all pumped up and ready to go; this was it, I was going to kill my son if he didn't submit and then bring the Valmores down.
