Chapter Fifteen

Sampsons POV

Terrifyingly magical, that was the only way to describe last night. When I started getting texts with Odessa's location I was immediately tense. Then they started coming more frequent and I was already changed into a pair of basket ball shorts just in case. I was pacing outside when I got the final location with the word help. That was all we needed before Artemis sprang forward and ran faster than I ever thought possible.

I would not fail another mate! I don't know if it was my sheer determination to get to her or the fact that they weren't far but I wasn't even exhausted. As I got closer I could hear a man say that he always gets what he wants and I lost it. I shifted back and quickly threw him off of her. I could smell he was another wolf. He knew she was not his mate yet tried to take her anyway. Odessa finally rolled over and I helped her up.

Just as she stood I wanted to wrap her in a hug. However the i***t pup decided it was smart to try and claim she was his. "She is not yours!" Artemis yelled. He was on the verge of coming out and I was trying so hard to keep him in. She had been through enough, Dessa didn't need to find out what I was yet. Unfortunately the man before me started to shift which meant I had to. I pushed Odessa back because I didn't want her to get hurt during this fight.

"Run!" I yelled hoping she would listen. I couldn't check to make sure she had but when she screamed I knew she hadn't. I couldn't focus on her right now I had to kick this wolf's ass. He was definitely an alpha that's for sure just by his size. He was pretty good with his fighting but I was better. It wasn't hard to over take him. Last I was he was unconscious but I didn't stick around. Then the nightmare turned into something good when we finally mated. I wouldn't mark her yet, it would be too much at once.

Odessa stirred a little in her sleep and I pulled her closer. She was so small compared to me but I loved it, I loved her. She's amazing Artemis said and I completely agreed. I closed my eyes for the best sleep I've had in a long time because tomorrow was going to be a lot of talking.

When I woke up Dessa was just coming out of the bathroom. She had a towel wrapped around herself and her hair was wet. I rubbed my eyes as I sat up and watched her. "Morning beautiful" I said with a smile. She jumped a little before returning the smile. "You sleep like the dead" She said with a laugh. Once she was close enough I pulled her onto the bed so she could straddle my hips. "How did you sleep?" I asked her as I hugged her close. "Really well. I think everything just drained all of my energy" She admitted.

"So I figured we could stay in here for the day and we can talk about everything" I said. Odessa nodded her head and walked over to my closet to get a shirt to wear. I quickly linked an omega to bring breakfast and some coffee to my room for us. "What was wrong with your eyes?" Odessa asked. "Sorry I was sent a mind link to someone who works here to bring us breakfast" I said. "Mind link?" She asked. "It's like telepathy but only for those within the pack" I explained.

Odessa came and sat on the bed with me. "Okay start with the basics" She said. I explained how packs work like a mix between the american political system and a monarchy. The title of Alpha is usually passed down from father to child in the way a monarchy is however the alpha is like the president, the beta is the vice president, and the gamma is the speaker of the house. Should the next highest position not be able to perform their duties the next position would step up to the leadership role.

She seemed to pick up the basics of it as the knock on the door signaled the arrival of our breakfast. We discussed a few other things like about her being my second chance mate. What that would mean for her and for us. I also told her how the woman she had seen the last time she stayed her had been Skye. For being so young she took everything in stride. I would have thought for sure she would freak out at any moment but the Moon Goddess blessed me with a strong mate.

Eventually Odessa noticed she had a lot of messages from her parents. "I should really get home and tell them everything that happened" she said. I nodded my head and asked for Caroline to bring some clothes for Dessa. "I'll drive you" I said once she was dressed. Once we made it to the car I helped her in and closed her door. Omar check the local pack registries for an Alpha named Mason. He'd be in his twenties I instructed. Sure thing Alpha He replied and I got in the car to take my mate home.

It was probably for the best  that I meet her parents anyways. After all now that we're mated it would be best for her to come live with me. I never realized how close she actually lived. We pulled into the drive way when my phone started ringing. I pulled it out to ignore it but Omar's named popped up. "I'll be right there I need to take this" I said. "Okay just walk in" Dessa said giving me a kiss. Once she was inside I answered the phone. "What do you got?" I asked. "Mason Wheeler, twenty four, Alpha of the Twlight Sky pack" Omar said. "Thanks" I replied then hung up the phone.

I walked to her front door and took a deep breath. s**t had I been this nervous when I went to meet Skye's parents? Probably not since they were wolves they knew about everything already. I opened the door and I could hear raised voices. "He tried to rape me!" I heard Odessa yell. s**t I walked closer into the house and stopped in my tracks. My blood ran cold at the sight, how the hell could this be?! "Odessa get away from them" I growled out.

Artemis on so close to bursting out. "What are you talking about Sampson they're my parents" She said. "I mean it Dessa get over to me now" I commanded. She must have felt how serious I was because she started moving over to me in confusion. However her mother growled and pulled her back to her. "She not going anywhere with you" Her mom spat out. "Can someone please tell what the hell is going on?!" Odessa yelled. "Your parents are the ones responsible for killing my first mate Skye" I snarled out. Odessa's eyes widened in shock and she tried to push away from Angela to no avail.

"How the f**k are you alive?! I saw your bodies burning" I spat out. "We took a couple of our omegas and a crap ton of old clothes and burned the bodies" Edward said with a shrug like it was obvious. "It was clear we were losing the battle but we weren't about to let you win out right" He added. "I'll kill you" I said just about to shift. "Ah ah ah not so fast" I heard a voice say from behind me. Soon their beta, named Theo, walked out to join them. "It's three against one you'd never make it out alive" He said. "Make that four" another voice said. "Josh? Your a wolf too?" Odessa asked.

He gave a small nod of his head and stood by her parents. "Since you killed out last Gamma Sampson please meet Joshua our new Gamma" Angela said. I knew I wouldn't win in this fight three high ranking officials against one alpha would be a suicide mission. They wouldn't be stupid enough to all fight me and leave Odessa unattended nor could I distract them enough to get a message to my pack. It was killing me that I was failing my mate again. "I will find you" I said looking to Odessa praying she understood I would stop at nothing. Then I walked out of the door to call my pack. It was time to prepare for war.
