Steigan woke to find the sun nearly set. Long shadows filtered through the forest. Startled, he jumped to his feet, packed his things, and started running back toward New Lilinar.
Cross the spot between your eyes. He had to get back across the bridge to the Temple. His next step lay there. He'd woken with the single thought and the feeling deepened every second. He just knew he had to get back.
As he came into sight of the Temple, he saw the courtyard glowing with light and a buzz of activity on the bridge. Of course. The townspeople had been called to hear the announcement of the next Holy Sapere.
