Few weeks later, Anne’s school was doing some sports with another school in the province which wasn’t very far from Montes. Parents were invited but Emilia didn’t get the chance to go because of some work she had to do but Jack took a two days off to be with his favorite little sister in her special moments. However, before Anne left she insisted that Jack should bring Rose with him. Jack had no choice but to go with Primrose. Anne and her school mates together with their teachers arrived in the province the night before the sports that were to begin the next day. Parents were arriving on the day the sports began.
It was at around 9 am where Jack and Primrose began their Journey to the province. On arriving in the province at around 12 pm, they were discouraged as the roads were muddy. The closer they got, the muddier the road was. Jack packed somewhere around there.
“Jack why are you packing?” Primrose wondered.
“I won’t let my car stuck on this mud.” Jack said.
“What?! So what do we do?” Primrose wondered.
“I will leave that to your imagination. So please, get out beautiful.” Jack said.
“Damn I don’t believe this.” Primrose got out. Jack got out too.
As they began walking, Primrose continued complaining as she walked and she suddenly fell but before she fell completely, she held on a tree. She got up but the mud had dirtied her clothes.
“Oh my goodness.” She sadly said. Looking at Jack he was laughing at her. “What?! You are laughing at me?” she wondered.
“You talk too much.” Jack said. “You deserve it girl.” He whispered into her ears and then began walking ahead of her. Primrose followed him until they reached to their destination. It didn’t take long until the football match began for boys and later on they went for netball which Anne played. Jack and Primrose were watching her together and cheering up for her. The game wasn’t easy but at the end they came out victorious in netball and volleyball.
In the evening after a lot of cheering, Anne and Primrose were chatting and laughing together. Jack just watched them and smiled and of course there was some music. Soon it began raining and people began getting in the rooms they were allocated. The children had their own allocation apart from parents. Jack quickly went to the ones allocating rooms so that they may give him a room because he knew that Anne would eventually go inside.
“Oh I bet you are the last parent because there is only one room left.” The teacher gave him the keys and a place to sign.
“What?!” Jack wondered. “The only room left? How is that possible?” He asked.
“Yes sir, for each student, we calculated a room for his/her parents.” The teacher said.
“Okay." Jack said and sighed.
He went to the room and sat on the bed. “Where will that girl sleep?” he wondered and then chuckled. He stayed there for 10 minutes and went out to look for Primrose and found her dancing in the rain with Anne. He quickly walked towards them.
“Anne go inside you might get a fever. How can you do this?” He scolded Anne.
“Come on brother, we are enjoying.” She replied.
“Go inside, now!” Jack ordered seriously. Anne left as she danced on the way, “Good night.” She added as she ran.
“And you? You let her do that?” Jack asked.
“She insisted, you know her.” Primrose replied. “We were almost leaving though.” She defended herself.
“She better not catch a cold.” Jack said and walked towards the house.
“Ok am sorry.” Primrose shouted as he left. She then stood facing away from the building and remembered how she used to dance in the rain with David and their mom would scold them and stop them from doing so. She remembered how her dad defended her from her silly mistakes. She also remembered how she used to dance in the rain with Rose and Diana when they were teens. Tears began flowing from her eyes as it rained on her. She sadly sat down on the playground and began crying.
“David where are you?” Primrose cried, “You are all grown up now, I wonder what Martin is doing to you.” She thought sadly.
Twenty minutes later Jack came out looking for her, he saw her from a far crying and when he walked towards her, Primrose noticed and she quickly turned to him smiling.
“What’s wrong? Are you going to stay in the rain till morning?” Jack asked.
“Am enjoying the rain.” Primrose said. Jack looked into her eyes and noticed that she wasn’t ok. He got closer to her and carried her on his arms and took her inside, after changing she wanted to sleep but Jack held her as they stood. Jack kept her so close to him as he looked into her eyes.
“Girl, I don’t know what is wrong with you but whatever it is, I am really sorry about it.” He kissed her forehead. “You can talk to me about it if you want.” He slowly said, “I would listen.” He added.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” Primrose said.
“It is ok.” Jack said and began kissing her and Primrose didn’t stop him. Later on as they sat on the couch Primrose fell asleep on his arms and he placed her on the bed and covered her with a blanket. He touched her hair and then kissed her forehead and then went to the couch and slept. Primrose wasn’t actually asleep and so she heard and felt everything he did. She opened her eyes and smiled when he wasn’t seeing her.
On the next day Jack woke up early so that he could get to his office by evening. He prepared himself and when he was done he went and woke Primrose.
“Rose…” He called slowly as he touched her. He was shocked to see her shivering. “Oh my God!” he wondered. He quickly took their belongings and carried her on his arms and walked towards his car. Surprisingly enough the children had already left with the school bus and some parents were also leaving. He took her in the car and drove away. He reached to the central hospital in Montes within one and a half hour instead of three hours. She was admitted and the doctors checked on her. Jack got a call from work and so he left but he informed Rosario about what happened to her niece and the hospital she was.
Jack quickly arrived and found detective Martinez waiting for him.
“Jack I think it’s time to go get the search warrant.” Martinez said.
“Let us go.” Jack responded as he nodded because it was something they organized the whole previous week. So the two detectives went to meet a judge for that case.
Rosario arrived in Primrose’s room. She watched her as she slept.
“What is wrong with her doctor?” Rosario asked.
“She just caught a cold ma’am, she will be okay.” The doctor said.
“Am glad to hear that.” Rosario said.
Soon she left to Martin’s house. She explained on what happened to Primrose.
“That girl is doing nothing important, is she?” Martin commented.
“No Martin, it is working. You are going to need this in the days of your trouble.” Rosario said.
“Days of my trouble?” Martin laughed.
“You should have seen how the police officers and their detectives are working day and night Martin. Martin when they start their move, you might just not be safe…let us go far away and start a new life and be happy.” Rosario explained.
“Oh shut up! I will never be happy with you. I will never leave Montes it is my kingdom. Here I am the boss and only in Montes I cherish the memories of the only woman I have ever loved. I also don’t want to give those idiots the pleasure of defeating me, never.” Martin said.
“Ok then my so called niece should keep on deceiving that detective, when they start making their moves, trust me she is going to be so useful.” Rosario said.
“I will see her soon and talk to her.” Martin said. “When she gets out of the hospital.” He added. He stood and began walking around.
“Did you say she is your so called niece?” Martin asked.
“Isn’t she?” Rosario asked.
“You should thank me that I am re-uniting you and your family Rosario, we all know that Primrose is your flesh and blood niece.” Martin said.
“You want me to thank you? Why don’t you re-unite me and my daughter?” Rosario angrily asked. “My daughter, your only child Martin!” she cried.
“Shut up! She is not my daughter!” Martin denied.
“Oh yes she is!” Rosario claimed.
“That discussion was closed long ago and am not coming back to it.” Martin said. “So you better be glad that I re-united you with your dear niece Primrose but since your hate for your step sister Cassie is too big, you can’t even rejoice in the little family re-union.” He added.
“I hate her always but I have no idea of why I sometimes feel bad for her daughter and I don’t even hate her.” Rosario said and Martin left her all alone in the sitting room.
Jack went to see Primrose in the hospital after work. He found Rosario.
“What happened to her Jack?” Rosario asked.
“She was dancing in the rain.” Jack replied.
Primrose suddenly had special memories of her and her family and with Jack and Anne, she then woke up smiling.
“Rose.” They called in unison. They walked closer to her. She looked at Jack and smiled, he smiled back.
“Jack would you please excuse us.” Rosario requested.
“No aunt. I want to stay with Jack.” Primrose said.
“We have a lot of talking to do.” Rosario said.
“Save it for later aunt, please I need to be with him.” Primrose pleaded. Rosario rolled her eyes and walked out.
Jack went closer to her as he smiled and wanted to kiss her but she stopped him.
“No Jack I haven’t completely recovered.” She refused.
“So what?” Jack asked and kissed her. “How is my beautiful girl doing?” he asked.
“Am doing good.” Primrose said with a smile. “How is everything with you?” She asked. “You look tired.” she said.
Jack sighed and said, “a lot is going on but all will be well.”
“What exactly do you mean?” Primrose asked.
“Well it is my office issues, nothing for you to worry about.” Jack responded.
“Okay…” Primrose replied but before she could speak more, Jack’s phone rang.
“Excuse me.” He picked it up. “Hello mom.” He said.
“Jack I heard that you came back in Montes since morning and it is at night now, where are you?” Emilia asked.
“Mom I went to work immediately I arrived.” Jack said.
“And now, where are you?” Emilia asked.
“Mom, since when do you ask me that? I am 29. I have a job that requires me almost 24/7 mom.” Jack explained.
“Jack I am your mother, I know you are 29 and I do know which kind of job you are doing, I asked you where you are.” Emilia insisted.
“Ok am coming home right now and we are going to talk about this.” Jack replied and hang up. He looked at Primrose as she looked at him too.
“I am sorry about your mom I think it is best if you go home Jack.” Primrose said.
“Yeah sure.” Jack kissed her forehead. “Good night.” He said and walked out.
It was around 10 pm when Jack arrived home and his mom was waiting for him.
“Mom what is all this about?” He asked. “You know I come back home anytime. It’s my job…” Jack said.
“Thomas said you left in the evening from work.” Emilia interrupted. Jack sighed in disbelief of what he heard from his mom. “Are you seeing that Rose?” Emilia asked.
“I knew this was all about Rose.” Jack said. “And what if I were with her? Tell me what is wrong with that?” He asked. Emilia slapped him on the face.
“Why are you torturing Diana? The poor girl has been tormented for the last 8 years and your stupidity was the reason! And now she should still suffer because of you?” Emilia asked.
“My stupidity? So it was my fault?” Jack asked.
“Did she beg you to get her pregnant?” Emilia asked. Jack chuckled as he shook his head. “If there is something tormenting that girl is how she lost her child and how she lost you Jack, she also lost her Father. Jack my son there is nothing stopping you from being with her, nothing Jack. She had her mistakes too but she was young back then, she deserves some understanding and a second chance. Above all, you still love her and she still does love you.” Emilia explained.
“Mom I hold no grudge against Diana because we all made that mistake together although I tried to fix it and she wasn’t letting me do it. Mom please understand that I don’t ever want to make that mistake again. I am moving on mom please just let me be.” Jack said. He walked to his room. Emilia was sad and speechless.
“You are wrong mom, my feelings for Diana are fading so fast, I no longer feel that love anymore.” Jack thought when he was on his bed that night.
