Chapter 11

WEEKS LATER:

Primrose, Vero and David moved to another hideout because they were no longer safe at their previous hideout. Martin was worried because the police were making good progress on his case and he would be arrested any day. Vero made a plan of making Primrose and David escape Montes and go back to the city. They were going to use a boat to get to another town then leave to the city from that town. It was just a small boat that carried goods and not people. They thought it would be safe for them because Primrose was known to be a criminal and so if people saw her they would recognize her. The boat was leaving at night so in that case they would have to leave at night. 

In the afternoon of that day David was sent by Vero to take the money that the people in control of the boat demanded. He wore a black hood and went there. When he came out, he walked along the beach heading back to the hide out. He bumped into Diana and Rose. He kind of stared at them but he continued walking because he recognized them.

“Wait…isn’t that David?” Rose wondered.

“Yea…seems like.” Diana was also wondering. Both Diana and Rose looked at each other surprisingly as David walked away from them in a moderate speed.

“David!” Rose shouted at him but David didn’t stop walking but he was shocked and got worried. The two ladies seeing that he did not respond, they ran to him. Diana gripped his arm and stood right in front of him as Rose was just beside Diana.

“David Duncan right?” Diana asked quite angrily. 

“What?” David wondered as he slightly removed Diana’s hands. “I have no idea of whom you are asking about.” He said.

“Of course it is you David.” Rose said.

“Yes we do recognize you.” Diana said.

“I don’t know what you are talking about.” David said. “Now if you would excuse me, I have got a lot of things to do.” He then walked away from them.

“I know it is you. Tell that criminal sister of yours that you are protecting that she better surrender to the police or else…” Diana said as she followed David.

“I have no idea of what non sense you are speaking right now. I am not David.” David denied and walked away. They tried to follow him but they lost him on the way.

“He must know where that criminal Primrose is. He is just protecting his beloved sister but I will get to the bottom of this.” Diana said and walked the same way that David used when he was walking away from the boat just when they saw him earlier.

“So where to now?” Rose asked.

“Just follow me sis.” Diana said. She then began describing David to someone asking if anyone around there knows anything about him.

“I am sorry I know nothing about that guy, I just saw him coming out of that boat like twenty minutes ago.” Said a certain guy as he pointed on one of the boats around there.  

“Thank you very much.” Diana walked towards that boat together with Rose. When she got there she saw one guy working there. She described David to him and asked about him.

“And why would I tell you about him?” Asked the guy while putting his cigarette in his mouth. Diana took her wallet and removed a good amount of money. She got a little closer to him as she held the money on her hand.

“Are you going to answer my questions?” She asked him. The guy smiled and asked her “Why not miss?” 

“Good.” Diana said. “Go ahead.” She said and the guy told her everything. After that she gave him the money and walked out of the boat furiously.

“Hey sis calm down.” Rose said as she walked behind her.

“Primrose has no shame Rose, today I will end her miserable life!” Diana angrily said as some tears dropped from her eyes.

“Don’t you dare do such a thing.” Rose said worriedly.

“She deserves to be dead.” Diana cried.

“Calm down sis…you can’t kill her you would be a murderer just like her.” Rose said.

“I hate her so much.” Diana said. Rose went to embrace her.

“Calm down sis…we are going to the police station right now to let them know about their plan so that they can arrest her tonight.” Rose said then Diana nodded and they got in the car and went directly to the station and found both detectives and officers.

“Jack!” Diana shouted his name immediately when she got in the office and drew everybody’s attention.

“Hey why…” Jack wanted to speak but Diana interrupted.

“Well we have very useful information for you.” Diana said.

“Calm down miss Diana and tell us.” Martinez said because Diana looked really furious.

“I can’t calm down because my father’s murderer is planning to escape this town tonight.” Diana said and surprised both the detectives and they let her speak. She told them all she could say.

“Oh so Rose has a younger brother?” Jack was still wondering.

“Not Rose her name is Primrose and yes she has a younger brother.” Rose said as Jack remembered what his mom told him about the Duncan’s family.

“So Primrose and David are the children of the late Mr. John Duncan and Martin is the suspected murderer of that man.” Jack spoke his mind. “Primrose then worked for Martin, oh my gosh this s**t is just not making sense.” He said as Martinez carefully listened.

“What are you trying to say Jack?” Diana asked. “Are you trying to defend that murderer?” she asked. Jack looked at her as she complained.

“Thank you for the information you brought to us Diana, the murderer of your father will be arrested tonight.” Martinez said.

“Jack are you trying to mix up your personal matters and work?” Diana asked.

“I think it is best if you leave the rest of the work will be done by us, thank you very much.” Martinez said because Jack was not responding to her. Diana left angrily with Rose. They got in the car and Rose began driving.

“Rose we are not going back home. I want to witness how Primrose will be caught tonight I want to see her shameless face. I want to slap her I want to hit her so bad.” Diana cried.

“Come on sis…it would just add to your pain.” Rose said.

“No Rose I would feel a relief.” Diana said.

At last it was at night. Primrose and David prepared themselves already as Vero helped them.David didn't mention anything about what happened with Diana and Rose. Primrose shaded a tear as she stared at Vero.

“Vero come with us. Let’s stop all this revenge thing and go away, far away and live as one happy family.” Primrose suggested.

“Yes Vero please.” David said.

“You two don’t understand a thing.” Vero said and sighed. “As long as Martin is still alive, we will never be at peace. He would go looking for you. Please just go and be happy and if things go well I will join you guys.” She added. The three of them wept and hugged each other. Vero wanted to escort them and so they were moving out together but suddenly some people broke in the house, they were Martin’s people. The three of them hid on a corner. Vero began shooting one by one as she moved slightly out of the corner but one of them shot her left arm, she almost fell down but before she did, she shot him and managed to kill all the three men. She then laid on floor as Primrose and David went to her.

“Sis…” Primrose cried.

“Go!” Vero demanded.

“No we can’t leave you like this.” David said.

“We can’t I will not leave you like this.” Primrose said.

“Are you stupid or something?” Vero asked. “You want to die in Montes like your dad?” Vero asked. “If you stay here you would all die, don’t you understand it is already dangerous?” Vero asked. “Guys I will never die before I kill Martin. I will be fine just get out of here.” She added.

“No!” Primrose refused.

“Listen you have to leave tonight. David take good care of your sister, you took the gun right?” she asked and David nodded sadly.

“Now go.” Vero said. 

David got Primrose up and took her out of the house. David wore a black hood as Primrose wore a long black jacket with shades. They were heading to the boat using a path that was not so common. On almost arriving there, before they got in the boat they heard police officers say.

“Don’t move! Put your hands up.” They ordered. This shocked primrose and David and they slowly put their hands up. 

Diana and Rose got out of the car and furiously walked towards Primrose.

“My sisters.” Primrose wondered. Diana went and slapped her angrily but the police officers went and held her.

“You’re a murderer!” Diana claimed as Primrose looked at Diana and Rose as she cried and they were even surprised to see her big belly.

“Huh? So you even got yourself pregnant?” Diana asked worriedly knowing that the child might be Jack’s. Suddenly Jack and Martinez approached.

“Jack…” Primrose sadly called.

“You are under arrest for the murder of senator Cruz and author Clive Johns.” Martinez said. On taking a look at her they saw the big belly, Jack was really shocked and didn’t believe what he saw but then he was the one supposed to arrest her. He looked at her in disbelief and went to arrest her but as he did so she whispered to him. “I miss you very much.” He did not respond.

“Hey my sister is not a criminal.” David claimed but they went to arrest him too.

“Why are you arresting him? He is not a criminal.” Primrose said.

“He is an accomplice.” Martinez said.

Jack’s mind was really disturbed as they took them to the station. He was just thinking about Primrose and her belly.

Primrose remembered Vero’s words. “That very same detective you are protecting will be the one to put you behind bars.” 

Arriving to the station, they took Primrose to the office to interrogate her first. 

“Jack my little brother has done no one harm.” Primrose claimed. 

“He is your accomplice but if he is innocent he would eventually not go to prison.” Martinez said.

“Did you murder senator Cruz and author Clive Johns?” Jack asked.

“Jack…” Primrose sadly called. “Aren’t you going to ask how I have been? Won’t you even ask about my big belly?” She asked. 

“I suggest you put aside personal matters first.” Martinez suggested before Jack could respond.

Primrose closed her eyes and dropped some tears as they looked at her. Jack then looked aside feeling a slight heartache.

“Yes I did.” Primrose replied.

“What?!” Jack wondered. “How could you?” He asked. 

“Were you following orders from someone?” Martinez asked.

“Martin. I was following orders from Martin.” Primrose confessed.

“How could you Primrose? You were working for the same man that murdered your very own parents?” Jack asked quite angrily.

“You don’t understand a thing Jack.” Primrose cried. “Anyways I don’t need to keep silent about Martin anymore because he would eventually kill me even if I don’t speak.” Primrose said.

“Tell us everything please.” Martinez requested.

Primrose began remembering the entire evil Martin has done to her and then she said, “He killed my parents as you said and then he kidn*pped me and David. Every crime I committed, I did it because I had no choice.” 

“Were you threatened?” Jack asked. Primrose after remembering everything she went through because of Martin, she shaded some tears and said, “I want to rest.” 

“Don’t hide anything from us Primrose Duncan. The information you are giving us will bring justice to your family.” Martinez said.

“I have said enough for today.” Primrose cried.

“Listen…” Martinez said.

“I think it is best if she gets some rest.” Jack interrupted. Martinez looked at Jack and said. “Fine detective.”

“And if you would excuse me detective, I have personal matters to discuss with her.” Jack said and Martinez nodded and walked out of the room. When he slammed the door, Primrose stood from where she sat. 

“You don’t love me anymore, do you?” She asked. 

“Not anymore.” Jack replied as Primrose dropped some tears.

“Jack I am very sorry please forgive me.” Primrose pleaded.

“Am I the father of that child?” Jack asked.

“Jack…” She called his name in disbelief. “Obviously.” She added pitifully. “Who else would it be?” She asked.

“It could be anyone Primrose. I don’t know you, everything about you was fake.” Jack said.

“Not my love for you.” Primrose opposed.

“That is what you say.” Jack said.

“Jack I never meant to do what I did to you and everybody else.” Primrose cried.

“Oh would you shut up! Were you not in your right mind when you did everything you did?” He asked. “I promised you everything but asked you just to trust me in return and you claimed that you did.” He scolded. 

“Jack how could I? You are a detective and I am a criminal.” Primrose said. “Understand that I had no choice.” She added.

“Similarly I have no choice but put you behind bars.” Jack said.

“And I will not blame you for that, it is your job.” She sadly said. “But Jack I will soon give birth…” She added.

“About that child in your womb, let it be born first and I will know if it is mine or not.” Jack interrupted and Primrose slapped him on the face.

“I am sorry.” She then apologized.

“Officers.” Jack called the officers.

“Jack please believe me.” Primrose cried.

“Take her away.” Jack told the officers when they came in. They took her away.

On that very same night they went to arrest Martin but they didn’t find him in the house.

“Damn!” Martinez said angrily.

“He escaped.” Jack said.

They left Martin’s house and tried to search for him in all possible places but they didn’t find him.

On the next day early in the morning Diana and Rose went to see Primrose. Primrose was sleeping on the floor having a lot of thoughts. 

“You have visitors.” The officer said and opened the exit to let her out. Primrose walked out slowly. When she reached to the room in which Diana and Rose were, she kind of got surprised but she sat while facing them.

“You have no idea of how much I despise you Primrose.” Diana said.

“So you really murdered Diana’s father? Why would you do that Prim?” Rose asked angrily.

“Trust me guys there a lot of things that you don’t understand.” Primrose cried.

“We don’t want to understand those lots of things!” Diana yelled. “We want to understand one thing.” She added. “Why on earth did you kill my father?” she asked.

“I didn’t want to…” Primrose tried to explain.

“Well you did!” Diana interrupted. 

“I did not mean it.” Primrose said and Diana gave her a big slap on her face and she even almost fell. Diana attacked Primrose and started hitting her but Rose was holding her back.

“Diana stop!” Rose tried to stop her. Jack immediately got in when he heard the noise. He found Primrose crying while lying on the floor as she held her belly.

“You didn’t mean it? Were you out of your mind when you killed him?” Diana angrily asked.

“What is going on here?” Jack asked quite angrily. He looked at Primrose and then glanced at Diana and Rose.

“Get out of here.” He told Diana and Rose.

“Oh…” Diana tried to speak something.

“I said get out of here.” Jack spoke angrily.

“Oh so you are now defending her?” Diana asked. Jack went and gripped her arm and dragged her out as Rose followed. He then slammed the door and went back to Primrose.

“Are you okay?” He asked her as he got her up.

“Yes.” She said as she nodded.

“Okay good I will take you back now.” Jack said.

“Jack is David still locked in here?” Primrose asked.

“Yes.” He said as he took her back to where she was locked. 

“But he is innocent Jack in fact he has been through a lot.” Primrose tried to convince Jack.

“It’s not upon me to decide, the court will decide.” Jack said as he let her in the room but before he could lock the door she touched his hand while looking straight in his eyes with so much love in her eyes.

“I love you.” She said.

Jack closed his eyes then sighed and said, “Just stop this already.” Primrose began touching his face and he didn’t stop her. She got closer to him as she put her hands around his shoulders. Jack couldn’t resist and he began kissing her. Martinez saw them from a distance, shook his head and excused them.

“You are so deceptive.” Jack said in a low tone. 

“Not when it comes to loving you.” Primrose said. Jack got her hands off him and then locked the door and walked away from that place. He went back to the office and Martinez was kind of staring at him and he noticed.

“What now detective?” Jack asked.

“She might be trying to use you so that you can help her out.” Martinez said.

“I am not going to let her deceive me again.” Jack said.

“I saw how you kissed her.” Martinez confessed and Jack was speechless for a while.

“I am a man for crying out loud detective, I am not a robot so yea I get weak sometimes.” Jack confessed.

“Alright I suggest you be careful with her.” Martinez suggested.

“Okay.” He replied.

Greg was breaking everything around his office. The man was very angry and disturbed because of everything that was going on.

“I told Martin but he wouldn’t listen!” He complained to Vero. “And as for that stupid Rose I think it’s best if we put an end to her life before we get into serious trouble.” He said rudely.

Vero felt her pulse rate increase after hearing that but she had no say on that.

"I obviously can’t do that!" She thought.
