Primrose

Episode 10

The next day Basil recognized that they were not doing any efforts to take him out. He got very angry but still remained silent. Jack went to Primrose, when he saw her he embraced her with so much relief. He then looked at her carefully on the face and saw bruises.

“He did this to you?” Jack angrily asked.

“Jack let’s just be glad that nothing serious happened to me. I am safe my love, don’t do anything to him because I don’t want your fellow workers to think you are involving your personal life in your job.” Primrose explained. 

“Okay then come with me to the station I need you to open a statement. He threatened your life, it was attempted murder so you have to sue him.” Jack said.

“Um baby it is not necessary because I am still alive and nothing bad happened to me.” Primrose said.

“What? No way Rose when that bastard comes out of there he would go after you and I might just kill him. Let us go to the station and I am not taking no for an answer.” Jack seriously spoke to her and held her hand.

As he drove to the station Primrose was really worried and thought, “I can’t sue Basil that is for a fact, oh my God what will I say? Even if I wanted to, he would eventually take me down with him.” She thought worriedly. When they arrived in the station, Basil was being interrogated by detective Martinez as well as Tom. When Basil saw her he gave a faint smile, Primrose looked down and Martinez was observing them both.

“Miss Rose do you happen to be familiar to this man here who threatened your life?” Martinez asked. Primrose was speechless for a moment as Basil looked at her and all the detective’s eyes were on her.

“I think I have seen him before in this town.” Primrose said.

“Apart from that is there anything else you know about him?” Martinez asked.

“Um…no.” Primrose replied. Jack was still holding her hand.

“It is okay Rose, just some few questions okay?” Jack asked.

“Mr. Basil here is not giving us any reason as to why he threatened your life but you will get justice don’t worry. There are other things we just need to confirm.” Martinez said.

“Why don’t you ask her why I was threatening her.” Basil said something that surprised everyone.

“What?” Primrose wondered. Martinez and Jack looked at each other in disbelief.

“What are you talking about?” Primrose asked.

“What things are you trying to make up here?” Jack asked. Martinez was just observing them all.

“Primroses,” Basil said and pointed on a vessel that contained Primroses in the office. Primrose was so shocked, her eyes were wide open and Martinez was just observing.

“They are just so beautiful, such a sweet scent too. They make this office look beautiful.” Basil said.

“What are you talking about?” Jack asked. Basil said nothing else.

“Miss Rose, why do you think he threatened your life?” Martinez asked.

“Detective don’t listen to him.” Jack told Martinez.

“Detective Jack, this is an office matter I suggest you put put personal matters aside.” Martinez recommended.

“Baby I do not know what he meant with everything he said.” Primrose turned to Jack.

“I know.” Jack replied.

“Am sorry Rose but I saw him talking to you for a while before I came to stop him. Please tell us what he said, it will be very useful for us.” Tom said. All of them just looked at her as they were curious although Jack tried to be as calm as he could.

“Miss Rose please take a seat and talk to us.” Martinez pleaded. Jack pulled out a chair for her.

“Babe tell us everything he told you please.” Jack said. Primrose just looked at them and she suddenly felt nausea and she couldn’t handle it anymore and so she ran to the washroom and vomited a lot. Jack went after her. “Babe are you okay?” he asked.

“No Jack I just need to stay calm away from that terrible man, baby please I need to get out of here.” She pleaded as she held him. Jack went back to Martinez.

“It is enough for today with Rose. She needs some rest.” Jack said.

“Okay but tell her we will need to speak to her anytime soon.” Martinez said. Jack didn’t respond a thing and went to take her home. Martinez then took his personal computer and began investigating some stuffs about Rose Gerald. He had already doubted her. As Jack drove her home Primrose thought, “Montes is no longer safe for me even Jack is going to find out who I am. I will have no one to defend me or help me. I need to leave and be away from all these people especially for the sake of my child.”

It was around 8 pm when Jack arrived at Rosario’s place. He got out and opened the door for her.

“Goodnight.” Jack said and kissed her on her forehead.

“Jack come with me please.” She pleaded.

“Am sorry but I have to go to work.” Jack said. Primrose touched his face and said, “baby please. You also doubt me?” she asked.

“Let us talk tomorrow please.” Jack said.

“I need you with me.” Primrose said. Jack was just speechless and so Primrose herself kissed him and said, “Goodnight Jack I love you most, okay?” Her eyes would tell that she was very sad. Primrose walked into the house then in her room. When she got there, Jack also got in through the window. She ran to him and he began kissing him.

“I knew you would come.” She said.

“Yeah I am here.” He said and then held her and kissed her. He slept with her that night.

At around 5 am Jack woke up and he woke her up too and spoke sweet words to her like he always did. He then left and went home first. Primrose took a paper and wrote something for him then at around 6 am she silently left to her grandma’s house.

At work, Martinez was explaining to Jack somethings about Rose.

“Rose Gerald is a made up identity. I know how to identify made up identities Jack, all the details in this identity shows they are made up.” Martinez showed them to Jack.

“No!” Jack angrily rebelled. “Keep Rose out of this, you hear me detective?” Jack refused to accept.

“I am very sorry detective but the details for that girl are all false even her name. she lives at Rosario’s house and she is no niece of hers, it must have been Martin’s plan to bring her into your life.” Martinez said.

“Shut up!” Jack yelled in grief as Tom tried to hold him but he pushed him away.

“And am afraid that she might be the killer lady we are searching so bad.” Martinez said something that made Jack want to hit him but Tom held him.

“Rose would never do that.” Jack defended her. He then got out and went to search for Primrose. He drove his car to the bar and she wasn’t there. Tom followed him and when Jack went to Rosario’s house, Primrose wasn’t there. Jack sat on Primrose’s bed and looked at it as he sobbed his heart out. Tom consoled him. Before they left which was in the evening, Tom took Primrose’s comb which had hair on it. He took Jack back home, when his mom saw him and asked him he didn’t reply a thing. He just went to his room.

“Just let him be ma’am.” Tom said.

“What is wrong with my son?” Emilia asked.

“It happens that Rose was just fake and she might be even one of Martin’s people.” Tom said.

“What?” Emilia wondered. “I knew there was something about that girl.” She sadly said.

The next day, Tom and Martinez took a DNA test of the dressings they were holding and the hair. When they received the results, they were positive. Martinez and Jack could not stop wondering but were somehow glad that at last they knew the killer lady. They looked for her everywhere to arrest her but they couldn’t find her.

“She ran away.” Martinez said. They searched for Rosario and she was nowhere to be found too.

On the night of that day, Basil was killed. Vero went to the mental hospital that night. She invaded the head doctor’s office. She pointed her gun on her.

“Penelope,” she called while walking towards her pointing a gun on her. Penelope was very afraid.

“You must know the boy who was brought here years ago by Martin’s people. I know you have worked here for 20 years and the boy was brought here 8 years ago.” Vero said.

“I don’t know what you are talking about.” Penelope said and she shot right beside her to the wall. Penelope was shocked and afraid.

“I have no time to waste here.” Vero said.

“David, that is his name.” Penelope worriedly admitted. 

“I doubt if he was crazy so what is he doing here?” Vero asked.

“He is crazy but we are treating him.” Penelope said then Vero shot beside her again.

“He was not crazy!” Vero said.

“Basil and Lucas brought him here 8 years ago wanting us to drug him until he would completely go crazy.” Penelope confessed.

“Now I want you to detoxify him, you hear me? I will come here frequently to check on his health.” Vero said. “Now open his file so I can assure myself if it is him.” She demanded.

Penelope quickly checked on David’s details in the computer and found them. Vero viewed everything and his picture. She then stood beside her pointing the gun on her head.

“Penelope, head doctor and mother of three children. Mary, John and Lucia and your lovely husband, only if you open that mouth of yours to tell Martin or any of his people what happened here today, I promise to spare your life but not your children and your dear husband. I think you will be smart enough not to report to the police because you will go down too for the crime you have committed against poor David.” Vero said. “So I advise you to shut that that mouth very well, is that clear?” she asked. Penelope didn’t reply at first and so she shot beside her again.

“Yes it is clear.” Penelope said.

“Goodnight.” Vero said and walked out. Penelope was speechless and worried.

The officers found Basil dead in the morning. They were very surprised but they eventually thought of Martin because he might betray him but then there was no single evidence to prove that. They later on told Jack about how they found the killer lady and it was proven to be Rose. Jack was very hurt and tormented in the inside, most of the time he didn’t do his job well. He felt very heartbroken and got heartaches but there was nothing he could do. 

Every time Jack got out the office at nights, he went and got drunk until Tom took home. The letter that Primrose wrote was for Diana and Rose, she told them who she really was and apologized. She also wrote something short for Jack. Primrose’s belly grew day by day. David was being treated and slowly detoxifying. Diana tried to console Jack but she was never able to do so. Martinez was handling the investigation very well with Tom. Rosario was hiding in Martin’s house throughout.

Jack read it in his room. “Words cannot explain how special I felt when I was with you. Thank you for everything my love I am really sorry but the explanations I should give for all your questions I cannot write in here. I hope one day I can explain to you and you would understand me. I love you so much Jack, my love for you is never fake.

Primrose.” Jack felt a lot of pain in his heart as he read this.

Diana and Rose read. “My dearest beautiful sisters you have no idea of how much I wanted to embrace you the day I saw you again but you have no idea which kind of life I am living now. I hope one day I would get the chance to explain everything. I am really sorry Diana about your father and about Jack. Truth is I really do love Jack but I might never get the chance to be with him so if you can have him, just have him. If he really loved you before, he could eventually love you again. I am so sorry my dear sisters I will always love you.

Primrose.” Their eyes were brightened with tears but Diana angrily teared that letter. She cried painfully having already known that she killed her dad and she hated her deeply even when she found out she was Primrose.

Sometime fled just like that.

Primrose was in her hideout touching her big belly and feeling her baby move. She was six months pregnant. She smiled and said to herself. “You have no idea what kind of joy you have brought into my life my dear child, your father was my only pleasure in all the adversities I went through and you are too my love.” Suddenly she had the door knocked. She was afraid because she knew that Vero doesn’t come in the afternoon and nobody else knew that there was someone living there except a certain grandma neighbor. She got closer to the door but didn’t speak a word.

“Primrose it is me Vero.” Vero said and so Primrose opened the door. Vero got in but was very happy that day.

“Sis you look very happy.” Primrose commented. 

“I have a surprise for you.” Vero said. “Close your eyes.” She added and Primrose did.

“Come in.” Vero said and then David came in. When Primrose opened her eyes, she was left mouth wide open. David’s eyes were dropping tears.  

“Prim…” David called, “My beautiful sister.” He added. The two of them went and hugged. They cried a lot as they embraced each other. Primrose then began touching his face.

“I can’t believe you are right here in front of me sweetheart.” Primrose said very emotionally.

“Although they were trying to destroy my mind, not even once had I not think of you.” David said and they hugged again. Vero came and the three of them hugged as tears of joy dropped out of their eyes.

“But then…” David said as he kind of wondered at his sister’s big belly.

“Yes I am pregnant but we will talk about it later.” Primrose said. The three of them went to the small sitting room and began talking.

Jack was driving home after work, he saw Primrose’s picture on the road labelled as a criminal he was kind of tired to see them around. He continued driving home and he drunk but wasn’t very drunk. When he arrived home, he went to his room and slept. Diana then came into his room. She walked to his bed and kissed him. He slowly woke up.

“Rose,” he called and began touching her face. Diana felt bad but didn’t speak a thing. He began kissing her and saying, “I miss you so much Rose.” Diana just kissed him back joyfully. “I miss you more Jack.” She said. Jack passionately kissed her and slept with her.

In the morning when Jack woke up he was surprised when he saw Diana lying beside him.

“Damn it!” he said in disbelief. “Wake up Diana.” He woke her up.

“Jack, is it already morning?” Diana said as she woke up smiling. She wanted to kiss him but he stopped her.

“Don’t, what you did yester-night was enough.” Jack said.

“I did?” Diana chuckled. “You should have seen how desperately…” she said.

“Shut up!” Jack interrupted her. “Am very sure you took advantage of the fact that I was kind of drunk.” He said.

“Jack why exactly are getting mad at me? I came in here to just see how you were doing but you dragged me into this yourself, well of course I wouldn’t stop you because I honestly missed you.” Diana said. “Come on you behave as if it was our first or second or third or fourth or…” she said.

“Nonsense,” Jack interrupted. “What happened to you? I have always known that you can be very dramatic and a bad girl sometimes but I think that is your whole description now. Diana please stop begging for my love and move on. Don’t make me feel bad about you please, I hate seeing you this way.” He said.

“I can only be my better self when I am with you.” Diana claimed. “Tell me the truth Jack, what if Primrose wasn’t a criminal and she just left you, wouldn’t you give her another chance?” Diana asked as tears gathered in her eyes. Jack just looked at her and didn’t reply a thing.

“Do you know that you slept with me last night knowing that you were with Primrose?” Diana painfully asked. “You called her name throughout, do you know how that feels?” Diana asked.

Jack chuckled and said, “You have no idea of how long it took me to forget you so please don’t complain.” 

“Jack I am here right now.” She cried.

“Why do you want me to repeat myself every day? I won’t go back to that history Diana.” Jack said. “Please leave.” He added.

 Diana put on her clothes and said. “I don’t know if I should thank you for yester-night or should I thank Primrose?” She then left and Jack prepared himself and went to work.

Diana arrived home and began throwing everything around. Rose came and held her.

“I hate Primrose I hate her!” she yelled.

“Calm down sis.” Rose hugged her.

“He slept with me Diana but the whole time he called out her name knowing it was that Primrose.” Diana cried.

“You need to understand that he hasn’t gotten over her yet.” Rose said.

“Wait a minute sis,” Diana started smiling. “I hopefully think that this time I might get pregnant. Yes! That way he will eventually accept me back.” She said kind of happily.

“Diana you can’t be so sure.” Rose said.

“No the only thing that tormented Jack a lot was when I agreed with mom to abort his child. When I give him a child, he will forget all the sad history and come back to me.” Diana thought.

“I mean you can’t be so sure that you could get pregnant.” Rose said.

“I will best friend, I will.” Diana said as Rose just looked at her doubtfully.

Primrose and David were talking happily and joking around. They were having a lot of fun.

“So what are you going to call this dude in here?” David asked as he touched his sister’s big belly.

“Um if it is a boy, am going to name him after dad and if it is a girl after mom.” Primrose said. “Well that is of course if we manage to escape this miserable town.” She added. “Because if we don’t and I go behind bars, am going to give the child to its father.” She said kind of sadly.

“We are going to escape and we will go to our parent’s house and be happy ever after.” David said and they smiled at each other as they held each other and then embraced each other.

“You and my child make me feel so complete.” Primrose said.

“What about the detective?” David asked. Primrose felt sad after hearing that.

“Am sorry sis I shouldn’t have asked that.” David said.

“No David it is okay. I really love that man but he will never want me back after everything he thinks I have done.” Primrose said. “So I better get used to his absence.” She said.

“He is losing such a wonderful and beautiful woman.” David said with a smile.

“Come on David.” Primrose said with a smile too. They continued chatting happily.

It was at night where Vero broke in Martin’s house with a mask on.

“I have waited for long enough to do this Martin, I will end your good for nothing life today.” Vero thought as she carefully walked in the corners of that house. Martin was in his home office talking to Gerry and then Gerry heard some strange movements and so he got out of the office. He then walked away from the door carefully looking around with his gun then he saw someone hiding in a dark corner. She noticed that he saw her and so she tried to shoot him but the bullets didn’t catch him. He hid himself back and shot but they didn’t catch her either so she decided to run away before things get worse. When she ran, he chased her and shot her on her arm but luckily enough she managed to escape. He asked some guards to run after her but she killed them all.

She arrived at the hideout place as she held her shot arm that was in so much pain.

“Sis?!” Primrose wondered.

“Sis Vero!” David wondered.

She just looked at them as she gasped. They helped her get to bed. David went to call the nearby grandma because she knew a lot of herbal treatments. Vero took out some instruments that she always carries and hardly removed the bullet herself. Primrose wished to stop her but she couldn’t, she just gave her what she asked for. The grandma then came and helped to treat her.
