I all but dropped out of the sky by the time we made it back home. I was exhausted. I know we had been up over twenty four hours and half that time was spent flying. And with the way my back feels, I don’t think I will be flying again any time soon. It took everything in me just to put my wings away, and even then Uriel had to help. It was humiliating. Uriel didn’t seem to mind though. In fact he seemed more than happy to help me. And to carry me bridal style into the house and up to my room. That part I didn’t mind. I just snuggled into his chest and closed my eyes. The feel of him, the sound of his heart beating erratically under my ear and the scent of lavender and peppermint filling my senses. I never wanted him to let me go. I was somewhere between sleep and wakefulness. You know
