Reality came crashing down the minute she said those words to me. I was never going to be hers, she was never going to be mine. My heart shattered when I realized the minute she married another man it would be over. Our relationship would never be the same again. I was going to lose her to someone else. To top that off, I still had bullshit with my father I had to deal with. He had a daughter with another woman who was not my mother. I had a half-sister. I’d never been so angry when she pushed me away, so I left her standing there in tears. I didn’t want to risk hurting her, even though she had wounded me.
