Chapter 18:
The Vanara piled the dead high, and torches were used to light the bodies on fire. The smell of burning Spider made Helena queasy. In an effort to escape the smell, she worked her way into the temple proper. There were a few statues, representations she had seen before, but she held little true understanding of their significance. The sun had long set, but first the burning torches and eventually her pendant gave her plenty of light to see by. The inner rooms of the building had been cleared of the dead.
