Reading Nancy Drew novels all your life is one thing but living in one is definitely another, and the peaceful, quiet Everfall Main sure isn’t exactly the scenery you would imagine to harbor a century old secret.

Now I don’t know how my friends and I got ourselves into this mess to begin with but at the point we are at now, there sure is no turning back.

Chapter one
“I always enjoy watching the sunset from Cappa's, I can never get over how beautiful it looks,” said Robin as she took another sip of her hot chocolate. Cappa’s was a cute neighborhood cafe, it was a warm place, the walls were decorated with coffee and hot chocolate-themed wallpaper and a few paintings that flattered the color of the wallpaper, the tables were dark walnut and shined with the reflection of the last light of the day. The waiters and waitresses switched shifts as they were setting up the place for the Sunday night coffee and jazz. “I just come here for the coffee,” Monty said from under his breath “I think we should get going now, we have a big day tomorrow,” Robin reminded him. *Robin’s POV Monty walked me home but he left me two houses down because he still has not gotten over the fear of my neighbor's dog, what a wimp when we got to the house before my neighbor’s house he tried to go in for a hug but I put out my hand for a handshake, we gave each other a quick awkward glance and fist-pumped goodnight. It's been weird between Monty and me since we broke up last week, we only started dating at the beginning of summer but it's still a little awkward. I think we realized that we didn't have as much in common as we thought we did, anyway big day tomorrow, I need my sleep. Nala pulled me out of my seat before the bus could even come to a full stop, I couldn't believe how excited she was, when we got in school she caught a whiff of the school air. "Oh, how I love the sweet smell of puberty and depression on a Monday morning," Nala said with a concerning grin on her face. "I don't know if I should be worried or afraid," I said jokingly. Nala is my favorite cousin and I wouldn't trade her for the world, even though sometimes she can be a little too blunt, I still enjoy her company. I looked around the hallway and waved at Monty with a smile. "Aghhhh, I forgot about him, though he died of heartbreak last summer," Nala said while rolling her eyes. "Be nice," I said while hitting her arm playfully. "What's up, guys?" Monty asked while coming to a stop at where we were standing. "You know what, I'm out, Robin, tell me when the rich boy is done talking will you," Nala said while walking into class. "Why does she hate me so much?" Asked Monty. "I have no idea, I mean it's Nala, don't stress it," I replied following Nala into class. After class I walked to lunch with Nala and Monty, Nala rolled her eyes so much while we were with him that it's a miracle her eyes didn't fall out of their sockets. "Okay Robin, come talk to me when you aren't around this meat for brains," Nala said while walking off to sit at an empty table with a boy who I assume is new. "You know what I've had enough, there is no way someone can hate a person for no reason at all" Monty said while following Nala to the deserted lunch table. "Wait for me," I said following close behind. When we got to the table, the only person there was a boy who seemed a little too happy to see us, he had a wholesome smile from ear to ear. "Why do you hate me so much?" Monty asked Nala "Me, hate you? What made you get that idea" Nala replied sarcastically "So that's just how you treat people?"Monty continued "Only those I don't like" Nala answered "So you have no reason to hate me, you just do," Monty said now raising his voice "I have no business being in this conversation but Monty you need to lower your voice," I said calmly "Ohh, so you are cool with her always rolling her eyes at me and passing rude comments" Monty argued, his frustration visible "It's not that, I just don't want you shouting at her," I said losing the calm tone "So I was right, you are on her side," Monty said "That's not what I said!" "Okay guys, relax, that's enough," Nala said standing up to join us "Shut up!" Monty exclaimed at her "Why the hell are you smiling!" We said in unison to the boy at the lunch table "Cause no one ever sits with me at lunch," he said with his smile getting wider "That's the saddest thing I've ever heard and I listen to Lewis Capaldi," Nala said while taking a seat. Monty and I took our seats and no one said a word the rest of lunch.
