Chapter 11

School has finished and before I backed out of my idea to apologize, I walked to his side of the forest to see a twin to my house and I quickly knocked before I could back out again. I was waiting for only a few seconds when my flight instinct came on and I was just about to turn around when Fabien opened the door “leaving so soon? You just rang the bell” “I know your name” really Ariella? ”well I’m glad Azrael properly introduced you to me, do you believe what he said?” “I’m sure you heard everything so if I did, do you think I would have come to see you right now? Alone?” s**t I haven’t even given thought to what Azrael said but I somehow just don’t believe him “come in” he held the door for me and didn’t move to give me much space so I had to stay like an i***t or squeeze through, I chose to squeeze through. “wow, did you decorate all this?” “did you decorate yours?” “well, no it came that way but I do want to change some things” “well mine came this way and I’ve never changed it” “I hardly ever see you in school, what year are you?” “year four, I make it a habit to enroll into this school every new generation to know the pupils and keep my skills sharp and new, are you done with the questions? Why are you here” he sighed, getting bored with my questions “it’s just I don’t know anything about you and you seem to get to know a lot about me and I came to apologize” “whatever for? You had every right to keep that a secret, but what I don’t get is you telling Azrael” sigh “do you and Azrael have bad history or something?” “no, why did you tell him and his gang?” “the topic came up about dragons and how a select few only know how to reach them and that he was one of them so I saw an opportunity to get to know more and took it” “well he hangs out with the wrong crowd so I wouldn’t trust him if I were you or that dragon that came to see you” “he said he is not a royal dragon but he is an elder, he’s name is Zondel” “I have heard of him and he is no elder and I’ve been friends with the dragons for a long time so I know almost everyone of importance as I’m close friends with the king” “then who is he? And why pretend to be an elder?” “he is an enforcer but not for any royals or elders and he is well known to smuggle goods like dragon blood which is the most expensive and rare blood to get because of the side effects it gives us” “I’ve heard at my old school that the blood of non-humans has different effects on us but they didn’t say what or why” “you will learn it here, dragon blood allows us to stay awake during the day and if you old enough then it allows you out in the sun” “oh is that why you can be in the sun?” he smirked “no” “ok so what it means is that I’m in trouble because he also called me an abomination but he cant do anything because of Master Hunter and Baal” “I will contact Adrian and find out what’s going on, now” I got that he was trying to get me to leave so I said goodbye “stay away from Azrael and Zondel until we find out what’s happening” I nodded and walked to my hose wondering how exactly to do that.

When I entered my house, it was already half-past four am and I was hungry and tired so I went looking in my shelves, I’ve had pasta the other day so I can’t have it again so… its either beans curry or burger, burger it is so I took the rolls and dug into the freezer for soya burger. I washed the dishes and put clothes for washing after I ate than decided to go for a short jog so I ran up to change into my jogging clothes that I bought with Jordana at the last minute when I decided to be more active to train my body and mind. I went out of the forest and bumped into somebody who was also jogging “oh shucks! I’m sorry I didn’t see you there” “it was my fault for running out of the forest without slowing down to check if the way was clear” “well then it was my fault too for not checking and thinking no one would be coming out of the forest, it’s just we all know who stays there and well… I’ve never seen them run out and I’ve been here for almost a year now, by the way, I’m Drucilla” “yeah I see where you coming from and I’m Ariella and I’m new, nice to bump into you” we both laughed at that “I just started jogging and I really don’t mind a jogging buddy at the beginning stages, would you mind joining me on my morning routines?” “of cause not! And I won’t mind showing you around either” “thanks but Fabien already showed me around the basic places” “well aren’t you lucky, he normally stays in the background and stays away from everyone” “I heard it’s not good to attract his attention” “don’t know much about him but I won’t just take the rumors as word, people like to make up stories and supernatural creatures are no different or at least that’s what I learnt, the hard way” “ouch, that sounds like it’s an interesting story, I promise not to blab to anyone” she laughed and pointed to a direction to start jogging “I’m a hellhound by the way so I know what I’m talking about supernatural species, I grew up with them” there is a story there but I won’t pry if she doesn’t want to “well then I’ll take your word for it and I’m” s**t what do I tell her? “I’m complicated” I laughed but when she didn’t, I knew I had to tell her something and if this is starting out as a friend then I should start being honest, right? “I grew up not knowing until the last month that I’m a born dragon shifter but I was turned into a vampire” “wow ok now I understand what you meant when you said complicated and I don’t even know the whole story. Well it’s getting late so we should be heading back” “yeah… I guess I’ll see you at school? Or should we stay jogging buddies” “I don’t have friends and back home… I only had one so if you want to be friends then yeah sure, I’ll see you at school” we ran for the way back in silence and it was comfortable and when we reached the entrance to the forest, we hugged and parted ways. Wow I had another girlfriend! And she never had any real friends either so it would be a learning curve for the both of us. After finishing up in the shower, I was too wide awake to sleep, thoughts just flowed around in my head, keeping me awake so I put on a movie but could not concentrate but just kept it on for background noise but decided to go get blood since I’ve been thirsty and only now noticed, it must have been the jog.

I was at the door and just than thought of what Fabien told me about staying away from Azrael but it’s hard to do when he has my blood supply for the week and since I have the keys, should I just go in and get the blood or should I knock? He did give me the keys so I could get the blood so I went in and navigated my way to the kitchen and was about to open the cooler box when I heard movement and saw a shadow “gosh you scared me! Sorry for not knocking but I didn’t want to disturb you just because I was thirsty… Azrael?” the shadow moved and I saw that it was not Azrael but Zondel! s**t “Azrael gave you keys to his house? You who are an abomination to both our kinds? If only you were not connected to such powerful people, you would have already have been put underground!” I just turned away and took two bottles “I did not ask to be turned into a vampire and to some, changing into a creature is an abomination! So I’d just accept your views but you have to accept that it is not mine! When I found out about the supernatural world, I found out about many different creatures very different, both made and born so I’m just another that’s different from both dragons and vampires, maybe you could say evolved!” I walked away from him and luckily, he did not come after me because I was not in the mood! While walking out, I heard static like a radio with many voices and languages but just shook it and entered my house. I drank about half the bottle and put the rest in the fridge then I went to sleep but just ended up watching the end of the movie that took my mind away from troubling thoughts and I was finally able to fall asleep.

Damn it! I forgot to close the damn curtains and I'm too tired to get up... urgh I can't sleep like this! I got up and pulled the curtain and as I went back to bed, I saw it was only half-past six so I've been asleep for only two hours so I went into the safety of my bed and the comfortable arms of my blankets.

Dear diary, I have not written in a while so let's catch up. The last time I have written to you everything was normal and boring but believe it or not that day was the start of events that changed everything! First my parents told me story after dinner and broke it to me that we are born Dragon shifters... and that we do actually have family that I was going to meet but on my way home from the park, everything is blank until I awoke at the graveyard! And I'm not joking. Long story short, I was turned into a vampire which was possible due to the fact that I did not change into a vampire yet. A Master vampire found me and took me in and called the vampire council and my parents who know vampires asked Master Hunter to take me so that's how I ended up in his custody but got kidnapped by a demon to end up mated to him and actually liking him to moving into this assassination school that I'm in for just under a week and guess what! I made a girlfriend! Her name is Drucilla and she's a hellhound. We met when we were jogging and we bumped into each other and talked and decided to be friends! I'll meet her at school in the afternoon. Oh, and I also got to meet few vampires here and another Dragon shifter but he seems to be sketchy so I have to stay away plus he thinks I'm an abomination because I'm both a Dragon shifter and a vampire. School is the best here and I love maths! Ok I like maths but did you ever think you would read such a thing? The physical activities is a bit of a problem for now but I'm confident I'll manage the more time goes on.

I decided to make lunch so I made chips roll and on impulse I made for Drucilla as well then I went and washed up and chose to wear black legging pants with a bright blue halter neck, long sleeved top with my laced boots and carried a leather jacket, I've always had sensitivity to the cold but ever since I woke at the graveyard, I've never really felt the cold but to complete the outfit, I have to carry the jacket and wear it. I walked to the travelers post and I didn't see either Azrael or Fabien but I did see a familiar face "hey jogging buddy" "oh hey wow you look hot" I blushed from the compliment "thanks you don't look bad either, I had a friend help me pick out my style, I was styliss before" "styliss? Is that even a word?" "Don't know but if it isn't, well then I'm making it" she shook her head then I saw the colors again and I noticed that no one else can see them besides the traveler “hey Drucilla, did you see the color lines leading to different places when the traveler took us?” “no but hellhounds do not travel like that, if you see them then you have the potential to be a traveler, it’s a rare ability and it’s even rarer to find one that cross dimensions” “well then who do I go to learn travel?” “you will learn it in school” we walked into the hall and it was the same buzz as usual and I mean like in the other schools I’ve been to, we went to our lockers but had to rush to class. My first is weapons class, the teacher introduced himself and the class and each lesson will be about one weapon, we will learn about it and then how it is to be used. Today was switchblades and the different types and the different ways to use them in both the lethal and subtle way. The class was really interesting and I was enjoying learning but like always, good things finish faster so the class ended and I was off to my next which was history which was also not a favorite of mine but I learnt not to judge the subjects here and I was right because class is all about the history of assassination attempts and successes.

Dear diary, I am totally in love with this school and the subjects and well my brand new life, I have made a friend but I am yet to see her since we never make a meeting point yet so I decided to stick on my own until I see her. I have been more outgoing and confident and I am loving the change, my old self is still always with me but hidden, peeking out of the dark. I still have a lot of trials to go through but my first priority is to excel in school and survive friendship and whatever the hell is going on with Zondel and the Dragon shifters. My goals are to become more confident and outgoing, get out of my shell, to become a good friend and mate… to become a good person or as much as an assassin can? Does assassin mean you a bad person? I can just learn from here and move my own way but Baal… sigh I need to get through school before I think of the future and I’ll have to decide as I grow into me.

I was so spaced out thinking and writing in my diary that the whole break went and I was shocked when the bell rang and I didn’t eat or drink anything! Damn times just goes when you have things to do, I mean I just started writing in my diary. I got up and stretched then picked my things and headed to class but I needed to get my books from my locker but then I’ll be late, I decided to go to class, I hope the teacher does not call me out. The class was quiet and I immediately knew the teacher was in and my nerves shot straight up. I breath in and out and entered the class and the teacher and everyone’s eyes were on me “urm sorry I’m late ma’am, it won’t happen again” “it does and you will be spending the hour outside” I nodded while some people snickered and I walked to the nearest empty seat “this place is taken” I looked to the girl that said that and looked to the seat “it doesn’t seem to be, unless she or he is a ghost” “would you just sit and not disrupt the class!” the teacher scolded, I ignored the girl and sat down but I could feel her daggers sigh “it’s just a seat for gods sake, stop trying to drill a hole into my head” I rolled my eyes, she’s pretty with long silky black hair and grey eyes with clear skin but her attitude just ruined it. “and there are other seats so why choose this one” “what is your problem? This was the closest empty seat” “my problem is you sitting in that seat!” “what is so bloody important about this seat?” “it’s not the seat, it’s you sitting in it” my mouth opened but I closed it and just decided to pay attention to class and it was a very uncomfortable silence only broken when class ended and we went our separate ways.
