Chapter 4

A guy came and sat in front of me and gave me an intense look so confused and scared I looked around and saw two more guys at the bar section looking my way. Are you the one that killed the trucker and just left him in the open in my city! I was shocked to hear a guy’s voice in my head and I looked up to see the intense guy glaring at me. Do not ignore me, rogue! Get up and follow me or else! The guy that was sitting in front of me got up and sent a pointed look at me than the guys at the bar got up as well so he was the one talking to me in my mind, but how? I left cash for the food and got up. You probably thinking she is so stupid but if I tell them it was not me or if I didn’t know what I was doing, they could help me understand or something plus they think they know I killed the trucker and that sounds like trouble if I don’t try to sway them.

I followed them to the same parking lot and this time I was not scared because after thinking it through, I decided that I must be a vampire, never mind that I was awake when the sun was out but to have fangs and drink blood? Yip, I’m definitely a vampire, plus I was always thirsty, no matter what I had to drink, except when I drank from that trucker… anyway, that was the reason why I was not scared, I could handle myself now, unlike before because as a vampire, I must be stronger than a human, if book legends are to be trusted.

“rogue, what are you doing in my town? How did you become a rogue, and before you think to attack me, know, we are older than you and we all master vampires” I was shocked to find out that they vampires, I don’t know what a master vampire is but they definitely more powerful if they older than me? “I don’t know how I became a vampire, I swear I didn’t mean to kill that guy, he was going to hurt me and I… I don’t know what happened” they all got more serious, s**t why did I admit to killing that guy, they only suspected before I think… now they know for sure, what happened to my plan?

“you need to come with us, we will discuss this further and then call in the vampire council” I was scared again and thought of running but by the looks on their faces, they were waiting for that so I just looked down and followed them to a black Audi and went in. One of the guards were driving, he had blond hair and light blue eyes with a muscular body, the other guard sat in the front as well and he was almost a twin to the other guard, the leader sat with me, I made sure to sit far away and to not look in his direction, he had brown hair with dark brown eyes and he was lean with slight muscle.

“my name is Michaela and I am the master vampire in this area, who are you and where did you come from?” I looked up and decided that being honest is the only choice I have and hope that is enough “my name is Ariella and I am from Durban, I don’t know how I ended up here, the last thing I remember is walking through the park and then I awoke at a cemetery, I walked for a long while until I was picked up by that trucker and he brought me here” he looked thoughtful for a while “how old are you?” “I am sixteen but my seventeenth birthday is on the twenty-eighth of February, what is today's date anyway?” “you are young to be a vampire, whoever made you have made a lot of criminal offences, today is the twenty-second of February” oh my goodness “the last I remember, it was the ninth of February” I have been away from home for a while, what would mom and dad think, oh gosh I sent a message to dad but never contact him again. “do not panic, we will find out what happened to you” “will I be able to see my family soon” he did not say anything but just looked to the front so I guess that means no but I will find a way, one way or another, I will get to them “I sent a message to my father on the truckers phone” “we will deal with it, sigh, look Ariella, I am sorry this happened to you and probably not by your choice but you are a vampire now, the vampires are your new race and your vampire cult will be your family, it would be better if your family believed you dead” the passenger guy talked on the phone about the truckers phone history, I have six more days to know if what mom told me was the truth and if it is, then I have no reason to lie to them but I guess I would have to talk to whoever I will be staying with, plus I can use the excuse that I need to learn how to control my dragon and the powers that come with, if the story is true. Who would have thought that the last story I ever heard could be my salvation?

We reached a huge stone building and stopped, I kind of knew he would be rich but the house or mansion was just so big. I got out and followed them in the house and when I saw how the maids were dressed, I felt self-conscious at how I was dressed, even if it was clean but I just did not feel pretty in it. I did not know who to follow when I entered because the guards went one way and the master vampire of the city went another so I guess I was stuck but then the master vampire of the city turned back and raised an eyebrow at me so I followed him to his office.

“you need to tell me everything from the day you walked in the park, every detail will help” “erm ok, it was my second day at work, well first since they were closed my first day at the dog care centre but I have never been to the park so I thought it would be a good idea after work just to see the park. It was quarter to six when I left work and headed to the park, I saw a few people walking so I just took a stroll through the park, I just noticed how late it was so I took my phone and messaged my father that I was on my way home… it was quarter past seven and that was when I felt fingertips on my temple and then everything was black, then I woke up in the cemetery…” ok that does not make sense “I am afraid you have been mind wiped, I will call the vampire council and we will see what next, the members of the vampire council can remove a mind wipe” “you mean they erased my mind? What else did they do to me?” “we will find out and they will be punished for their criminal offences, now I have called for a maid to show you to your room, I’m sure you wish to wash up and rest, there will also be clothes in the closet, I have sent a maid to buy a few things but if you need anything more just ask” “thank you, I don’t know how to repay you for all of this though” he just smiled and stood up and nodded at me, I got up and there was a maid at the door that called me, her name is Melody and I have already made friends with her but I was really wanting to scrub and wash up before I fall asleep on the floor.

I woke with a start from a nightmare to see I was still in the bathroom and that I fell asleep in the tub, the water had gone cold so I let it run and got out and made my way out to the room, shivering from the icy cold and slipped under the covers and fell asleep, too tired to even think about the nightmare or dressing up.

I stretched with a huge long yawn but got out of bed and made my way to the closet to see what I can wear, I was cold and then remembered that after waking last night in the tub, I was too tired and just let the water run and wiped then got into bed. I wrapped the first warm thing I saw then took out a simple jean and top, I looked through a draw and saw a lot of new underwear, all in different sized. I went and washed up and changed but I did not know what to do and I did not know if eating food is something I can do, I mean I know I can but now that I’m a vampire, maybe I should not, I mean I did not see the vampires eat or drink at the café.

I was just going down the stairs and then stopped because I did not where to go. I decided that it should be best to get answers but Michaela’s office was locked so no getting answers on being a vampire and what I can and cannot do even though I knocked and waited a while, no one answered. Now what must I do? I walked around trying to see someone in this mansion. Melody should be around here somewhere but no matter how far into this place I go, I cannot find anyone, sigh but I bet if I wanted to escape, I would be seeing people everywhere trying to keep an eye on me. I still never find the kitchen and I was hungry, not thirsty but hungry? So maybe we can eat…

I just passed a door that led to a garden and I was struck speechless! It’s absolutely beautiful and I almost cried when I saw the sun streaking so brightly, I somehow was under the impression that since I’m a vampire that I’ll never see the sun again. I saw the gardeners after a while, so this is where they all were, I ignored them and walked through the garden, just admiring its beauty. The gardeners were shocked to see that I could be there in the sun but did not see Melody, I guess she does not do gardening. Trying to sit on the bench and enjoy the soothing breeze and kind of peace just got interrupted each time the gardeners looked and started gossiping so I simply got up "hi can you please direct me to Melody? I am quite bored and hungry but I don't know what to do now" they just stared at me in shock and some fear now so I gave a sigh and left to look for Melody on my own again.

I give up! I can't find a soul in here! can vampires have souls? Of course, how else can they feel? The heart is just an organ just like any other, the soul to a person is like petrol is like to a car and the heart is like the battery, the brain is like the engine, sigh I must be lost it if I am comparing us to cars. What can I do to take up the time until they grace me with their presence? If I could find the damn kitchen, I would have baked something but I don't think they have a kitchen. I must have been wondering around here for hours so bored out of my mind and still I have not seen anyone, besides those damn useless good for nothing gardeners who couldn’t help me or wouldn’t. what if the vampires were a dream and I was still kidnapped? I didn't even think about that before but it would answer why I didn't see any of the vampires and the shocked and scared look on the gardener's faces. I don't even know what time it is but it is still light out so it must be a few hours before nightfall before I can get any answers.

I decided to go back to the office and wait, I knew how to break locks so no biggie but I was just so bored sitting and doing nothing that I looked through his books until I found an old book about the legend of dragons and I just had to read it after the story my mother told me, remembering that I did not contact my dad, I went to the phone to the office and called him, knowing that I will get into trouble but do not really care.

"hello " "daddy? It's me, Ariella, how are you? " "where are you, Ariella? Your mum and I have been sick worrying what happened to you " "daddy it is a long story, I phoned just to say that I am safe so far, and I need to know if that story mum told me was the truth? If so, what would happen if I became a vampire before my seventeenth birthday? " after this, I just heard silence on the other side than "baby it is mom, the story is true and if what I think you just said is true then you cannot tell anyone about you being a dragon shifter, keep that a secret unless you are in danger" "I am a vampire and I will but I'm scared mom, no I'm terrified of what's going on, I am going to meet the council soon " Sigh “ok baby do not worry, we have heard about this master vampire of St Louis, he is more fair and respectable and he does not take advantage of his vampires, we will have to be truthful to him about what we are but we will get him to take you under his wing so just relax and trust no one " "OK sure I'll try, I have to go now but I hope I will be able to see you'll soon, I love you and dad " "we love you too and we missed you, goodbye Baby, oh and the vampire is Master Hunter Thorne " I put the phone down and went to the couch and cried myself to sleep missing them so much.
