Davin's POV:
Lucy was trying to murder me or get someone else murdered. Sadie looked good enough to eat. Sadie’s dress hugged each curve perfectly and molded over the swells of her breasts pushing them up to peek at me through the low neckline. The very low neckline. Her dress was so short that I bet if she bent over she’d flash me her panties.
Her body was on display, the urge to push her back in the house and keep her there was strong, but I shoved it down. Tonight was too important. I shift in my seat trying to release some of the tension that is growing in my pants. I can’t jump her bones if I want my plan to work.
I had the whole evening planned. We were going to have dinner at the best restaurant on pack land, then I was going to take her home. To my home. Hopefully soon to be our home. My palms get sweaty at the thought. I release the steering wheel wiping them off on my jeans.
I’ve never been this nervous. As an alpha I’m always so in control but Sadie, she is different keeps me on my toes reminds me daily that she is my equal and I can’t boss her around. Tonight I’m going to show Sadie around the pack house and hope she falls in love with it, it’ll make things easier when I ask her to move in with me if she loves the place.
We pull up to the restaurant, I race over to her side of my car opening the door for her. I possessively place a hand on the small of her back leading her inside to our table. I want to growl at every bastard who looks in her direction. I glare at them and it doesn’t take long for them to take notice and see whose arm is around her causing them to pale and immediately look away.
Smart men. I can’t blame them if some other wolf had Sadie I’d stare too she’s like the sexy girl next door. She is breath taking a walking wet dream. She’s mine.
We sit at our table and she immediately pulls a menu up hiding her face from me. What the f**k? It’s been a painfully slow ten minutes of me staring at nothing but the cover of her menu. The only conversation being had is about what looks good. I wish the waiter would come right now and take the damn thing from her just so she is forced to look at me. As if reading my mind he shows up and we both place our orders and he leaves taking the awfully large menus with him.
Sadie sits there quietly twiddling her fingers as she looks around the room. Her eyes scan every inch of this place but never letting them settle on me.
“I can practically hear the wheels turning inside of your head. Sadie, what is going on? What are you thinking?” I ask.
Her eyes shoot to mine a pretty shade of pink covering her face. “You will think I am silly.”
“I assure you I won’t. Please tell me?”
“I’ve never been on a date before, I’m not sure how to do this.”
“Never? This is a first for you?” I smile.
“Not unless you count prom!” Her forehead creases and she shakes her head. “I knew it was silly.”
I let out a shaky breath. Thank goddess she isn’t thinking of running or something. I don’t think I could handle it if she suddenly decided this wasn’t for her.
“No! No Sadie, it’s not silly at all. I’m happy that I got to be the first to take you on a proper date. You’ve already won me over. Don’t think about it too much just talk to me, like we normally do.”
She nods as she thinks it over. I love how she has had more experience than I have but she still appears so innocent and shy. I love that no one else has had the pleasure of her company on a date. I’ve only been on one date, her name was Selene. The guys thought I needed to release some tension so I took her out with the intention of taking her to bed, but we had nothing in common. She only seemed to care about sleeping with the future alpha. The night ended early and I returned home to my bed alone.
Dinner was delicious. Sadie made these cute little moans every time she took a bite of her steak. I was being tortured, that’s what this was. Torture. My d**k pulsed with every sound she made. I was ready to come just thinking about the sounds she would make as she came.
Once she got out of her head about our date, it’s like we had known each other our whole lives, there was never a pause in conversation never a lull when neither of us knew what to say. I paid the bill and escorted her back out to my car opening her door for her. Her dress rode up further on her leg as she stepped in giving me a peek of her smooth thighs. f**k, we needed to get to my house.
I pulled out onto the road turning in the direction of the pack house. She looked confused. “Umm Davin, I live that way!” she says pointing in the opposite direction.
“I know. We aren’t going to your house.”
Sadie’s POV:
In all my life I had only ever been to the pack house once when I was six and I never stepped foot inside the large building. Davin waves to a man sitting in the booth as he lets us through the black iron gate. The brown brick house seems even larger to me now resembling more of a castle than a house. I can’t believe this is where he gets to live, where he got to grow up. It’s beautiful.
Davin parks his car and turns to me taking my hands in his. “Sadie, my parents are inside; they would like to meet you and I would like to show you around. If you don’t want to stay, if you are not ready for this just say the word and I will take you home. I promise.”
I nodded. My heart pounds so hard I can feel it in my ears. I’m suddenly more nervous than before. Davin grabbed my hand interlacing our fingers as we walked. Feeling his touch, the sparks through my fingers it was doing wonders for my nervous system. My heart rate had returned to normal just we entered the main door.
A man and woman were waiting for us on the other side. I can only assume they are his parents the resemblance is uncanny. His mother reached for me out of Davin’s arms and pulled me in for a hug.
“Oh Sadie, it is so wonderful to finally meet you!”
“Luna it is a pleasure to meet you.”
“Oh dear no need to be formal. You are going to be my daughter-in-law one day please call me Diana.”
I smile and turn to his father, he looks like an older greyer haired version of Davin. I hold my hand out to him. “Alpha.” He ignored my outstretched hand pulls me into his arms wrapping me in a hug.
“Like Diana said darling call me Liam.” He pulls away put doesn’t release me. He looks at me from head to toe… is his father sizing me up? What if he doesn’t think I’m good enough? “You look so much like your mother.”
I freeze. I was not expecting that. Ice chills my veins. I don’t even know what my mother looks like.
“You know my mother?” I ask.
“Yes, I knew your father too. He was on my security team before he met your mom and had you and your brother. I’m sure you don’t remember me but I sure do remember you.”
“I’m sorry pardon? We’ve met before, when?”
“You were just a young child then, used to hide up in the corner of my office with some colouring pages on the days your father brought you to work with him. You always wanted to play with the boys but your father wouldn’t let you out of his sight.”
I smile at the thought. From what I remember of my father he was the most loving man, always with James and me. He loved my mother unconditionally. Most of my memories of him start around the time I was six. I can’t believe I don’t remember big things like him taking me to work with him. I can’t believe he worked for Davin’s father. How did I not know this?
“I’m sorry. I don’t remember.” I say.
“That’s okay, like I said it’s been a while. The last time I saw you was at the pack barbecue, the one your father came to and asked me for permission to leave his security detail. It was a decision I know was not easy for him to make but the three of you were so important to him so I respected it.
My head hurts as I take in all of this information. I remember being at the barbecue, how could I not have realized my father worked at the pack house. How is that big of information not molded into my brain?
“I remember you. You were so small, the four of us were convinced you were a runt we always tried to get glimpses of you in hiding in my dad’s office” Davin laughs.
I’m frozen in place. I can’t believe my parents were friends with Davin’s father. That I had been inside this building. What other things did I not know about them? About my past? I feel like a part of me is missing, like I don’t know myself at all.
Davin excused us to show me around the pack house. We went on a very long tour. I was so intrigued by it all. He watched me with delight as I took in his home. He pointed out all the good hiding places from when he was a child, and places where he got hurt first or just held some type of significance to him. I was in complete awe of his home. We made a stop before two large brown oak doors. Davin slowly pushed them open. “This is my room.”
I swallowed the lump in my dry throat.
Inside a large king sized bed covered in emerald green bedding that matched his eyes rested centre against the far wall. Walls that were painted a dark grey. His room was complete with a brown oak dresser and doors hidden behind sheer white curtains that lead to a balcony. On the last wall was another door which I am assume must hide a bathroom and closet on the other side. His room was tidy not like what I was expecting at all.
Davin comes up behind me wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me into him. “Do you like it?” He whispers in my ear.
I shiver from the warmth of his breath, from the tingles in my hips where his fingers touch me. I turn to face Davin, please let this be the night we mate. I wrap my arms around his neck letting my fingers play in his hair.
“It’s cleaner than I expected.” I joke.
“I wanted to impress you.”
He lifts me so easily off the ground as if I weigh nothing and carries me over to his bed. Laying me down, he crawls over me and all of the air leaves my lungs until his lips connect with mine.
