Ember's Pov
"Damian, I'm tired already, can I rest for a bit." I sighed as I panted while looking at Damian who was sitting in front of the cottage staring at me calmly.
"Nope, you can rest, there's still a lot to go." Damian smiled as he pointed at the logs behind me.
He had brought the logs some days ago and I wondered where he had gotten it from. The task was for me to transfer the log from one point to another. Even though I didn't see any sense in it, I still did it.
It had already been a week since we started the training and I could already feel my stamina growing stronger. I could now hike up and down the cliff without getting tired.
I remembered the first time, I had ended up fainting due to exhaustion only to wake up some days later at the cottage.
Since then Damian had been training me rather harshly as he kept saying there was not enough time. He wouldn't allow me to rest until I was on the brink of exhaustion.
He would wake me up very early in the morning and start training, he wouldn't allow me to stop until the evening. Even though I could feel myself becoming stronger with each passing day, I still felt as though he should allow me to rest.
"Alright, just finish moving that log, and then you'll be done for today." Damian's voice came just as I was about to lament again.
Hearing his words, I smiled as I hurriedly moved the log some distance away. Soon I was done and was reeking in sweat.
"Damian, when will you start teaching me how to fight, you've not even taught me a fight move since we began the training." I sighed as I sat beside Damian.
"Well then, I'll teach you that after your first transformation." Damian shrugged.
"Why can't you begin to teach me now, there'll be a lot of things for me to learn after my first transformation." I groaned hoping Damian was going to agree.
I had gotten to know him better and knew that once he declined something, then it would be better not to think about it as he wouldn't even listen.
"Nope, I won't," Damian chuckled as he shook his head.
"Why?" I frowned as I looked at him.
"Well, then all the moves I know are not suitable for a girl besides you need to undergo your first transformation as there's no way you'll be able to learn them if you don't." Damian smiled.
"Are you just trying to avoid teaching me?" I frowned as I could smell something fishy.
"Well then, you've caught me." Damian chuckled.
"I have my reasons for wanting you to transform first before teaching you any skills. You need to focus on your endurance." Damian sighed as he looked at me.
"Even though your endurance has increased over the past week it's nowhere enough for you to endure the pains of the transformation. Besides, you'll have to keep your sanity in check to prevent your wolf from going berserk."
"Besides, you'll need to communicate properly with your wolf and dominate it or else you'll just be its slave. So you need a lot of willpower." Damian sighed as he looked at me.
"What would happen if my wolf went berserk?" I frowned as I looked at Damian.
"Well, then you'll do things that when you transform back, you'll hate yourself and that'll only increase the chances of you going berserk the next time."
"But worry not, I'm here to help. Even if your wolf goes berserk, I'll be here to stop it. Damian smiled as he looked at me.
Alright," I pouted as I looked at Damian. Even though he had managed to give a reasonable reason for his actions, I could still tell that it wasn't the case. There was something he wasn't saying.
Well then, I'll only be asking him to ignore him if I ask about the reason. Since last week I had noticed that Damian had only been telling me half-baked stories and wasn't saying the Truth.
I could tell that there was a hidden piece somewhere, but then I wasn't going to ask, even if I did, there was no guarantee that Damian wouldn't ignore me.
"I'll be heading in to take a nap, I'm tired." I sighed, turning to Damian before proceeding into the cottage.
Arrrgh!!!
Suddenly a loud painful scream brought me back to my senses just as I was about to lay on the bed.
Argh!
The scream came again and I couldn't help but frown. The voice sounded familiar, besides, no soul was living in the forest apart from me and Damian. Could it be that it was he who was yelling in that way?
What the hell could be happening to him that made him yell in such a manner? Thinking like this, I pushed the thoughts to the back of my mind and rushed outside the house.
Getting outside, I froze as I couldn't believe my eyes. Damian was yelling in pain while he held his hands.
Looking closely at the hand, I noticed it was black which made me frown. Wasn't this what I had seen the other day when he killed the Moose?
"No not today," Damian muttered as he held his arm while screaming in pain.
"Not today."
"Not today."
Damian continued to mutter as he held his hands while he screamed. I could see his face twitching with displeasure and I could tell that the pain was increasing with each second which made me panic.
"Huh?" Suddenly I froze as I looked at Damian's arms.
Now, both his arms were already black and I could see the black thing slowly moving towards the whole part of his body. I wanted to do something, but no matter what I just couldn't think of anything.
"Not today!" Damian suddenly yelled and before I knew it, his yell changed to a roar.
Next, I could swear I saw his eyes flash red before dilating back to normal. What the heck was happening? I just couldn't understand.
"Not today."
"No, not today." Damian continued to mutter as the black substance moved through his body.
"Damian," I called out softly when I couldn't take it anymore but then I got no reply from him.
"Damian!" I frowned when called again, but then I got no reply.
"Damian!" I frowned as I moved closer intending to touch him.
"Stay away from me!" Damian growled as he turned to me.
This time, his eyes were red and I couldn't help but shiver as the aura of an alpha wolf leaked out of his body.
I frowned looking at Damian who kept muttering "not now. No not today" to himself and I couldn't help but find it strange.
Even though I was shocked senseless by his menacing aura, I still wanted to help as I was sure that something was wrong.
Looking over at Damian again, I couldn't help but shiver as all the black substance had covered his whole body. But then still, Damian kept muttering and it looked like he was trying to suppress whatever was wrong with him.
I just didn't know what to do as I stared at Damian. What the hell was happening? I didn't know. I wanted to help but then I couldn't. He was going through a lot, but then I just couldn't help.
"Damian." I mustered up my courage as I walked slowly towards him.
"I thought I told you to leave. What are you still doing here?" Damian growled as he looked at me.
His voice sent a spine down my spine as a very oppressive aura seeped out of his body.
"You need to pay for disturbing me," Damian growled as he suddenly stood up and grabbed me.
Before I could say anything, I was pinned to a tree. Next, Damian's big hand was choking me as he pressed me hard against the three.
