Why Do You Want Revenge

Damain's Pov "What's wrong?" I frowned seeing Ember's state. It seemed like I had asked a sensitive question. Well, I had gone overboard this time and there was no going back. "It's all fine." Ember sniffed as she replied after some time. I nodded and didn't say anything else, I didn't want to be the cause of her tears so it would be better if I stopped asking her irrelevant questions. "Didn't you want to know why I want to become stronger?" Ember suddenly asked as stared at me. "Yeah." I nodded with a smile. Since she wanted to talk about it, I didn't see anything wrong with it. "I want to be strong enough to beat someone?" "Is it Alpha Asher?" I frowned. "Yes." Ember nodded vigorously. "I see," I muttered with a smile on my face. "So can you help me with my wishes?" "No," I declined without even thinking about it. "Why?" Ember frowned, staring at me unpleasantly. "Because you're too weak." "But that's why I want to become stronger so I'll be able to have my revenge," Ember grunted. "With that weak body of yours?" I chuckled, not concealing my amusement. Even though I could see the determination in her eyes, I was still reluctant to teach her. Power is something that corrupts. I didn't know if she would go rogue once she became strong as she would want more powers. "Is it because I've never shifted that's why you look down on me?" Ember frowned as she glared at me. "Huh?" I froze, taken aback by her statement. Even though I had already suspected that she was a werewolf I still couldn't believe it. So it turned out that she had never shifted and had long passed the age. The cases I knew similar to Ember were rather well and it was either the person was wolfless or had a rather special wolf. In that case, their shifting would be delayed and once they transformed, they would be incredibly powerful. "Don't you think I'll be an even more powerful knife if I shift?" Ember smiled as she looked at me proudly. "Are you sure about that?" I smirked. "Yes." "Then lift that stone over there." I smiled pointing at a huge stone not far from us. The stone wasn't too big and didn't look heavy, but in fact, it was very heavy. "Are you degrading me? That stone is too small, I can lift something bigger than that." Ember boasted. "Just lift that stone first." I smiled. "Since you want me to lift it, I would," Ember grumbled as she walked towards the stone. "Just lift it," I smirked watching as she prepared to lift the stone. Soon, her hand came in contact with the stone and she tried to lift it, but no matter how much strength she exerted on the stone, it wouldn't budge. After a while, Ember was covered in sweat and I could see her body shaking slightly. She hadn't fully recovered yet which made me stun as to how she could endure such pressure for a long time. "Just leave it if you can't lift it." I frowned speaking up when I saw that she was unable to take it anymore. The girl was quite naive and might exhaust herself trying to lift the stone. "Why is it so heavy?" Ember complained immediately as she stood up. "It's not heavy, it's just that you're too weak." I shrugged, focusing on the moose once again. "Humph?" Ember snorted arrogantly, "Don't worry, once I shift I'll be able to lift it." "And why do you think so?" A smile appeared on my lips as I stared at her. "That's because I'll be strong then," Ember replied arrogantly as she walked back to the pavement to see. "You'll die if you try to s**t with that weak body of yours." I shrugged as I looked at Ember. "What?" Ember froze hearing my froze hearing my words, I could see her body trembling with fear and the disappointment in her eyes was evident. "Your body won't be able to handle the pains of the first shift because it's too weak and thus you'll die." "Why is that?" Ember shuddered as she looked at me. "Would you be able to withstand the breaking and reshaping of your bones?" I frowned. "Yes, I can." Ember nodded with a determined look. "Even if you can endure the pains, your body is too weak and thus would crumble, then you'll die due to the pain, and if you don't die, you'll never be able to shift again." I sighed explaining patiently to Ember who looked thunderstruck. "Then can you help me train my body?" Ember pleaded. "And why did you want to train your body, it's not as if you can't choose not to live as a normal human." I shrugged. "I have to get stronger so I'll be able to get my revenge." Ember pleaded on the verge of tears. "Why do you want to get revenge?" I frowned. "I...." Ember shuttered not knowing what to say. "Come back when you've known the reason you want to get your revenge." I sighed and focused back on the moose I was skinning. Even though I knew Ember must have suffered greatly at the hands of whoever she wanted to take revenge from. But then I didn't want her to take revenge, apart from the fact that she was too weak, power corrupts and I could tell she was naive. What if she changed after getting what she wanted she might change entirely which was scary. I wanted her to forget about her revenge, but then was it possible? Would she be willing to listen to me, a stranger whom she had just met? Besides it was just fate that brought us together and I had no control over her. I could only sigh hoping she was going to give up only if it would be possible. "Damian, would you teach me if I can give you a reply?" Ember asked as she stared at me with her big watery eyes. "Yes, I would." I forced a smile hoping she didn't have any reply. "I think I have an answer." Ember suddenly smiled as she stared at me.
