Ember's Pov
"So tell me why do you want revenge?" Damian smiled as he looked at me.
"Because I want the person who hurt me to pay for what they had done," I said with determination not wanting to give up.
"Not enough." Damain shook his head as he continued with what he was doing without sparing me a glance.
"I have more reasons," I said knowing that he was going to reject it.
Even though I knew that he was just trying to dissuade me from trying to become stronger, I wasn't going to give up I could tell that he had his reasons for not wanting me to become strong, but then I couldn't stay weak forever right?
I had to be able to protect myself against what would be coming in the future as I knew that Alpha Asher would find me sooner or later.
If only Damain would tell me his reasons for not wanting me to get stronger. With the expression on his face, there was no way I was going to be able to guess anything, but from his way of doing things, I knew he had experienced many things that made me want to stay with him.
Besides, I knew he was very strong and would be able to help with my wishes. Also, he had a kind of mysterious aura surrounding him which made me want to know more about him, but his carefree attitude made it difficult for me to say anything.
"So tell me, what other reasons do you have for wanting to have revenge?" Damian's voice came bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Because that's what my parents would have done if they were alive," I replied as my eyes became teary, the painful memories of how my parents were killed before my eyes hit me hard.
"Besides, I want to protect what I love, and to do that I need to be stronger."
"That's a pretty good reason." Damian smiled as he nodded approvingly.
"So are you going to teach me?" I asked feeling excited.
"Nope." Damian declined.
At that moment, I felt as if I was plunged into an abyss as I couldn't believe my ears. He had refused yet again. Why the hell did he refuse?
Even though I wanted to believe I could become stronger on my own, I couldn't help but remember his words about dying due to pain as my body was too weak for transformation.
"Why did you refuse?" I sighed not wanting to give up.
"Because I'm not convinced enough." Damian shrugged as he stood up. He had already finished skinning the moose and was preparing to do something else.
"What can I do to convince you?" I asked feeling rather helpless.
Damian was really strong and I knew it would benefit me a lot if he could teach me. But here he was, refusing to help me.
I couldn't help but feel annoyed while wondering why he refused to teach me. The reasons I had given him were convincing, but yet, he refused. What the hell could I do to convince him
"Stop trying to get stronger." Damian sighed as he started a fire, preparing to roast some of the moose meat.
Looking at the huge Moose on the floor, I wondered how he was going to preserve it, but that was not my problem at the moment, I wanted him to teach me what he knew.
For a moment I just couldn't understand what was going on as I couldn't believe my ears. Did Damian just ask me to give up on my revenge? Why the hell did he want me to give up?
"Why did you want me to give up?" I frowned not wanting to give up.
"Because I just don't want you to have your revenge." Damian sighed, "Don't you think it'll be better for you to live ordinarily, wouldn't you live a peaceful life then?"
"Besides, if you had died, would you have thought about taking your revenge?"
"I..." I shuttered it knowing what to say as Damain's words sank into my head, his words though we're hurtful, were the truth.
But then since I didn't die and he happened to save me, didn't it mean that it was predestined that he would help me with what I wanted?
"But you said our meeting was fate, didn't that include you helping me to become stronger?" I sighed trying to argue even though I knew that my argument was illogical.
Damian sighed and turned around to look at me, his eyes were like two bright lights illuminating my soul and it was as if he had seen through all my thoughts making me shudder slightly.
"Tell me, what do you know about fate?" Damian sighed, averting his gaze from mine.
"I..." I shuttered not knowing what to say, Indeed, his question was complicated and I knew now how to answer it.
Damian paused for a moment, then continued, "It's the unseen force that weaves the threads of our lives together, determining the outcomes of events, sometimes in ways we can't comprehend until they unfold."
"But isn't it the Moon goddess who controls these webs of fate?" I frowned feeling confused with Damain's words.
"Well, that's what you might think, but even the moon goddess has no control of that mysterious thread." Damian sighed.
I couldn't help but look at him in awe wondering how he knew so much, Even though I was burning with curiosity, I knew I couldn't ask him anything as he wouldn't say it which made him look even more mysterious as I could tell he was hiding many things.
I sighed and sat back on the pavement looking rather defeated, Damian's words were deep and I couldn't help but continue to think about it. He was just too talented.
But then I wondered why he was so adamant about not teaching me. Though I knew he had no obligations to teach me, I still felt that he had to do it.
At the very least, he should have listened to my pleading, but it seemed like I was pleading with a deaf person as he ignored me outrightly. Well, I couldn't get angry, just as he had said, if I left his place and belonged to nowhere and I didn't know how I would be treated wherever I went.
Besides, the Alpha of the pack might decide to send me back to Alpha Asher which was going to double my suffering. Well then, there was nothing I could do about it, I could only stay.
Suddenly, the delicious smell of the roasted meat wafted into my nose making my stomach growl Loudly.
Looking up, I discovered it was almost evening time. Because the part of the first where we were was quite dense, it was hard for the sun to penetrate making it hard for one to distinguish the time of the day.
"Here you are, eat up." Damain's voice came as he gave me a huge chunk of meat while staring at me with a smile.
