Ember's Pov
Looking at the huge chunk of meat Damain passed to me, I couldn't help but salivate and become hungry at the moment. Even though I had eaten since morning, I had been long used to starving.
At first, I wanted to reject the meat as I was feeling annoyed with him for not wanting to teach me what he knew, but the loud churning of my stomach made me think otherwise. Having no other choice, I sighed and collected the meat from him.
"Thank you," I muttered.
"You're welcome." Damian smiled before walking back to the fore preparing to eat his share.
"So what are you going to do with the remaining meat?" I frowned, feeling puzzled about how he was going to store the meat.
"Just watch." Damian smiled, focusing on what he was doing.
At the moment, the only thing I could think of was how to get him to agree to my request, Since I was lucky to be alive, there was no way I was going to throw away the chance.
As long as I became strong, even if I didn't go back to have my revenge, Alpha Asher wouldn't be able to disturb my peaceful life, but Damian was declining my request.
My mind wandered, as I thought about how to convince him. There had to be a way. I just had to do something and he would be convinced.
"Here, drink up." Damian's voice came, interrupting my train of thought.
"What's this?" I frowned looking at the bowl with some kind of strange liquid in it wondering when Damian got up to prepare The liquid.
"Drink up, it's your medicine." Damian smiled as he urged.
"But I haven't finished eating," I argued as I didn't feel like drinking the liquid.
There was no use in getting well since he didn't want to teach me. I was lucky to have him and yet he was refusing. What the hell could I do to convince him?
"Ember, just drink up," Damian smiled as he tried to persuade me.
"Nope, I won't" I shook my head feeling rather determined.
"Don't you want to get better?" Damian frowned as black lines appeared on his face.
"There's no need for me to get better since you don't want to help me to become stronger."
"There's nothing I can do to help you. If you don't get better, how would I train you?" Damian sighed as black lines appeared on his face.
"I don't care." I shook my head.
"Well if you don't take your medicine, I'm afraid you'll have only three days to live." Damian smiled as he stared at me.
"Huh?" I froze, not believing my ears as I just couldn't process his words. What the hell did he mean by that?
"Humph, like I'll believe!" I snorted coldly when I came back to my senses knowing that he was just trying to scare me.
"Well, we'll see in three days if you'll still be alive." Damian shrugged as he turned around.
"By the way, the slight dizziness you're feeling is a sign of poison. I discovered that you've been bitten by some poisonous snake when I saved you and the medicine is an antidote, yet, I wonder why you don't want it."
"Huh?"
I froze hearing Damain's explanation, so it turned out that I was poisoned all along which was why he had confidently said that I was going to die in three days.
I couldn't help but shudder thinking about this. It was just too terrifying. I didn't want to die yet, not until after I took my revenge.
Immediately, I took the bowl and drowned everything. To my surprise, the liquid wasn't as bad as I had imagined.
"So you've drunk it, Hun?" Damain's mocking voice brought me out of my imagination, "I thought you said you weren't going to drink it."
"I just didn't want to die, or else I wouldn't have drunk it." I shrugged, not wanting to pay attention to Damian who was mocking me.
"Well, I'll argue no more." Damian smiled and walked away to continue what he was doing.
Looking at his back as he walked away, I felt a sense of loss. Even though I had barely spent a day with him, I felt weirdly attached to him as something made me believe he was the one who would help me with my problems, but then he wasn't willing.
I began to rack my brain thinking about what I could do if he agreed to help me. I still couldn't help but remember his words about dying due to pain if I attempted a transformation.
Even though I didn't want to believe it, his tone sounded serious and I was sure that he wouldn't joke with matters like that which left me with a sense of dread. I was unwilling to stay ordinary.
I wanted to be strong and avenge my parents who were victims of what they knew not. But then he was very unwilling to help.
"Damian..."
"I won't help you, so don't even try to convince me." Damain cut me off right even before I could finish talking.
"Do you have to be this ruthless?" I groaned, feeling rather frustrated. The guy was like a brick who wouldn't even budge.
"I...."
"I've said it once, I won't help you." Damain cut me off even before I could say anything.
"Would it kill you to listen to me for once and just stop interrupting me?" I sighed, feeling rather annoyed with Damain's action.
"Fine, tell me what you want to say." Damian smiled as he turned around to look at me.
"You kept declining my request even after asking me questions and I gave you the answers, Why is that?" I frowned, staring intensely at Damian hoping he was going to say something.
Even though I had asked this question previously and he had given me an answer, I still asked him again.
"Well, I just don't want you to have your revenge. I want you to live a peaceful life and forget about those who have hurt you." Damian shrugged.
"Forget about this, who has hurt me?" I frowned, and my anger began to surge as I couldn't believe my ears.
"What the hell do you know about me that'll make you say something like that?"
"Well I don't know anything about you, I just felt that'll be best for you." Damian shrugged as he replied, behaving as if he didn't notice my annoyance.
"Then why the f**k didn't you want me to my revenge. All you have to do is just to teach me, it's not as if you can't." I yelled as tears welled up in my eyes.
I had thought that I had finally found a savior who would be willing to help me, but it seemed like I was wrong.
"That's because I feel that way. Besides, power is something that corrupts." Damian frowned as he stared at me.
"Isn't it because of the same power that your parents were killed? And yet you seek the power to avenge your parents, what do you think would happen if you're consumed by it? Wouldn't you end up worse than the ones who killed your parents?"
Damain's words struck right in my nerves and I couldn't help but shudder at his words. So this was why he didn't want to teach me because he was afraid I'd get consumed by it.
At that moment, my anger receded, but I wasn't willing to give up. I still had to become stronger, I wanted revenge, and I wasn't going to let power consume me.
"If you claim power consumes, then why aren't you consumed by it?" I frowned as my anger suddenly rose again.
"That's not for you to know." Damain shook his head as he turned around.
"Are you going to help me or not?" I frowned.
"Nope." Damian shook his head.
"Why?"
"Because I don't want you to take revenge, leave a peaceful life."
"And what does my life have to do with yours?" I frowned.
"Nothing," Damian replied as he turned around.
"Then why decline?"
"Because I just don't want you to take revenge." Damian smiled giving the same answer which annoyed me greatly.
"Fine," I muttered angrily as I stood up and walked back into the cottage.
There was no use trying to convince him. He wasn't going to listen to me.
