I'm Sorry

Damian's Pov Looking at Ember who stormed into the cottage, I sighed as I shook my head slowly. It wasn't that I didn't want her to take her revenge, but rather I was afraid she'd never be strong enough to get her revenge. "Who was Alpha Asher?" I sighed, feeling conflicted. I had once heard of the name three years ago. Even though at that time I was yet to be poisoned and I could confidently say that I could defeat anyone who crossed me, how did I end up? I had neglected my home and got carried away wanting to become stronger and in the end, I lost everything. I had long given up on revenge since I knew it was impossible and was just waiting for my death. I would die eventually so what was the use of trying to take revenge? At least, I should live a peaceful life before I die. Besides what if Ember went and wasn't able to defeat the one whom she wanted to take revenge on, then she would become consumed with getting revenge and eventually go down the wrong path. Even though I knew she had a strong will and all I had to do was just help her train her body to be strong enough to withstand the first transformation, I was rather unwilling. If I was not wrong, the full moon was in about a week or so. Besides, I was sure that she had a very special wolf which was why she had yet to transform as I had seen cases like that before. But then at the same time, I was quite sure that her transformation should be in the next full moon. Also, I was sure that she knew nothing about it and I didn't intend to tell her about it. Sighing, I could only push all these thoughts to the back of my mind and prepare to go back into the cottage. I was already done preserving the Moose meat. All that remained was to take the meat into the cottage. All of a sudden, the sky became dark and thunder rumbled in the sky. Seeing this, I knew it was about to rain, I had to be fast as I couldn't allow the rain to beat me. Besides, the poison in my body would act up if I was beaten by the rain. Besides, it was getting harder for me to suppress the poison which was quite a pain in the ass. I had to act fast or else, I'll be in for another round of inhumane torture. Packing everything up, I quickly returned to the cottage. Immediately I walked into the cottage, thunder crackled in the sky and a huge downpour began. Putting aside the meat I had brought along with me, I sighed and turned around only to see that Ember had long fallen asleep. But to my surprise, she was lying on the floor. I knew she must be annoyed with me for declining her request. But then I couldn't help it, I had to decline. Pushing away all the thoughts to the back of my mind, I walked up to Ember and placed her on the bed. Looking at her sleeping figure, I couldn't help but sigh. If only my mate was still alive, she would have been like this too. My mate was very stubborn and wouldn't listen to me no matter what I said. It didn't matter she wouldn't agree with me, and if I continued to decline, she would storm off angrily. But then, what had happened in the end, I had still failed to take care of her and she ended up dying in a way she shouldn't have. As much as I wanted to take revenge, I had no other choice but to give up on it. There was no use in taking revenge. She was already dead, besides she wouldn't have wanted me to do it. But even though I wanted to take revenge, I didn't have the power to do that. I was just too weak at the moment. I couldn't even use ten percent of what used to be my powers. Sighing, I pushed all the thoughts away from my mind and lay on the floor. I was quite exhausted because of the moose I killed. It had taken a great deal of power to kill it and at the same time skin and preserve it. I knew I was going to doze off in no time as I was too tired. Besides, if I didn't sleep, the poison was going to act up as I hadn't taken my medication. In the three years I had been living alone, I was able to discover some herbs that helped me relieve the intense pain I felt anytime the poison acted. But I had been unable to take it in the past few days which made it even harder for me to suppress the Poison. I was going to get the herb the next morning. I couldn't possibly go out tonight because of the rain. Looking at Ember who was asleep I couldn't help but sigh again. I felt really bad as I didn't want her to take her revenge. Even though I had made it seem like I cared about her safety, in reality, I didn't want her to leave. I was sure that she'd try to go back to her revenge once she got stronger, but I didn't want her to leave. Though I hadn't spent much time with her, I still didn't want her to leave no matter what. "I'm sorry, Ember," I muttered under my breath. She was someone with a strong will and I was sure that she wouldn't possibly get consumed with power, but still, I was reluctant, I just didn't want her to go. But could I help it? I didn't think I could. I was in no way fit to decide for her, so I would only watch as she chose for herself. Well, then I could only hope that she would be mindful and choose the best. Sighing, I pushed all thoughts to the back of my mind as I allowed the rain to become a melody to my ears quickly drifting off to sleep.
