Chapter 6
"I should leave the palace?" She asked, her face etched with shock and disbelief. She couldn't fathom why Dominic, would send her away. Moreover, she was unfamiliar with any other place to go.
"Get out of my sight! I never want to see you again!" Dominic's words thundered, his anger radiating through his voice.
"It was just a mistake, I am so..." she tried to explain, her voice quivering.
"You're talking too much. Leave this instant!" he bellowed, and she attempted to approach him, hoping to reason with him. Desperately, she couldn't hold back her emotions any longer. Words rushed out in a torrent of frustration and heartache.
"You brought me here, believing we had a connection, thinking we were in love. But instead, you brought me here to enslave me. If you have no desire to be with me, then please, take me back to where you found me. I have no desire to be trapped in this place any longer. I didn't study this hard just to end up as a slave. Please, I beg you, send me back if you truly don't want to see me."
Dominic's expression hardened as he listened to her impassioned plea. For a brief moment, there seemed to be a glimmer of understanding in his eyes. However, he quickly regained his composure and shook his head dismissively.
"You don't understand," he replied coldly, his voice void of any empathy. "This is the way things are here. You knew what you were getting into when you came with me. Or why would you foolishly go home with a stranger that you know nothing about? You're ready to face anything" Her heart sank as his blunt words cut through her vulnerable state. She had hoped against hope that he would show some compassion, some hint of remorse. But his response made it clear that her pleas were falling on deaf ears. Defeated, she took a step back, her shoulders slumping in resignation. The reality of her situation started to sink in, as did the realization that their supposed connection was nothing more than an illusion. She had been manipulated, and now she was left with a bitter taste of betrayal. Without saying another word, she turned away from Dominic, the weight of the palace and its countless secrets hanging heavily on her shoulders. With each step she took away from him, she vowed to reclaim the independence she had unwittingly relinquished when she entered his world. As she walked through the grand hallways, her mind raced with thoughts of escape and freedom. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but she was determined to find her way back to the life she once knew, a life where she was the author of her own destiny.
"How did it go? Did you give the coffee to him?" Hannah, the head maid, asked with a curious tone. Chloe quickly nodded in response, ready to explain.
"We talked with our mouths, not our heads," Chloe retorted, a hint of annoyance lacing her words. Mentally, she couldn't help but scoff at the suggestion that she needed to reply with her mouth.
"Yes, I gave the coffee to him," she replied confidently, her resolve unshaken. Hannah's response caught Chloe off guard, causing her eyes to widen in surprise. The suggestion that she needed to take lessons was unexpected, and for a moment, Chloe felt a mix of disbelief and indignation bubble inside her.
"I should take lessons for maid work?" she asked, her voice filled with surprise and a hint of curiosity.
"Yeah, and we also have to choose your department," she says, a spark igniting in her eyes, as her words pique her interest.
"Talking about that, can I choose where I want to work?" she asked, her question hanging in the air as she silently prayed for the opportunity to have a say in her future job placement.
"Of course," Hannah replied, taking a moment to consider her request. The room grew momentarily quiet as the weight of decision settled upon them. Finally, she let out a thoughtful sigh.
"I suppose we could take your preferences into consideration," she conceded, her tone measured. "But keep in mind that the final decision ultimately lies with our superiors. They have the final say on departmental placements." The hopeful anticipation in her eyes did not waver as she nodded, accepting the reality of the situation. She was grateful for the chance to voice her desires, however small the window of opportunity might be.
"Thank you," she murmured with a hint of gratitude.
"So where did you wanna work?" she asked, her voice laced with curiosity as they continued their discussion.
"Anywhere apart from alpha demonic apartment," came the reply, firm and resolute. "I don't wanna see him, I don't wanna work with him." The words hung in the air, carrying an underlying sense of unease and apprehension. The mention of the alpha demonic seemed to have stirred up something deep within her, a hidden aversion that she couldn't quite shake.
"You don't wanna work with alpha demonic? Many maids are praying to work with him, and you don't want to work with him?" Hannah questioned, her tone bordering on disbelief. There was a moment of silence, a pregnant pause as she contemplated her response. The weight of her decision and the reasons behind it were evident in her eyes.
"It's personal," she finally murmured.
"Yeah, I don't want to work with him," she replied, her voice filled with determination.
"Your choice," came the calm response. "I'll assign you to the kitchen. You won't be able to see him there," she added, a warm smile lighting up her face.
"Thank you very much, Hannah," responded the other woman with appreciation, returning the smile.
It had been a few weeks since Chloe started working in the kitchen and moving between the kitchen and the maid quarters. Surprisingly, she hadn't encountered the alpha demonic during this time, and she felt a part of her is gone.
"Hey," Viv, one of her newfound friends, greeted her warmly.
"Did you wanna go to the garden today? We're going to clean up the garden for fun," Viv suggested, a smile playing on her lips. Chloe simply nodded in response, acknowledging the invitation.
"To tell the truth, we were just going there to catch a glimpse of Alpha Dominic," Viv admitted, her tone revealing a mixture of excitement and curiosity. Chloe quickly stood up from the bed, her expression shifting to one of surprise and eagerness.
"Alpha Dominic will be there? Are you sure?" Chloe asked, her voice reflecting a combination of intrigue.
