Chapter Two. The handsome man walked up to Chloe, confidence with a little bit of arrogance oozing from each step he took, his charm evident in his every step. His gaze holding my eyes, he stopped beside her, speaking in a deep voice that made my bones want to melt. "Mind if I join you?" She took a sip of her drink more as a way to stop her from saying something stupid before nodding. Chloe could smell his cologne as he slid out stool from underneath the bar and perched calmly on it. It was intoxicating, almost overpowering even. He leaned on the bar, "I couldn't help but notice how gracefully you handled that annoying guy earlier." "It's nothing," she said, shrugging in a noncommittal manner, "It isn't the first time I have had to do something like that." His eyes ran up and down her, an appraising look on his broody face. "With a face as pretty as yours?" He said, "I can only imagine that you put up with it a lot." Her head buzzing from the compliment, she only managed a nod, before taking a sip of her drink again. "Ah well, what else is a gurl gonna do right?" Her interest is piqued, and she tilted her head, offering him a warm smile. Sure, I'd appreciate the company. I'm Chloe, by the way. Dominic extends his hand, shaking hers with a gentle firmness. She could feel his firm grip, the hard calluses. "Nice to meet you, Chloe. I'm Dominic. That guy had no idea what he was giving up, but I'm glad he did. Mind if I get you another drink?" Her eyes lit up instantly, appreciating Dominic's directness and honest compliment. "That would be great, thank you, Dominic."" Dominic headed to the bar, Chloe's gaze happeneds to wander back to the corner of the room. She noticed the Brad from earlier, glaring at her and seething with resentment. The disgruntled man approached Chloe and Dominic, his anger bubbling to the surface. Brad grimaced, "So, you think you're too good for me, huh?" He snarled through gritted teeth, "And now you're with this guy?" Chloe's expression remained composed as Dominic stepped in, his voice firm but controlled. He got to his feet, at what looked like about six two, he towered over the poor Brad. "If I were you, I'd walk away." He said in a chilling voice that made even Chloe shiver a bit, "she made it clear that she wasn't interested, and you should respect that. So, do us both a favor and leave." Chloe saw doubt in Brad's eyes for the first time, but he quickly brushed it away, trying to put up a brave front,"Or what?" "You don't want to find out." The disgruntled man hesitated, his anger flickering with a hint of fear at Dominic's unwavering gaze. After a tense moment, he decides it's best to retreat, realizing he's outmatched. He scoffed, trying to hide his defeat by muttering "Whatever. It's not worth it." he grumbled. With a last scowl in Chloe's direction, the disgruntled man turned and quickly slinked away into the crowd. Chloe exhaled a breath she wasn't aware she was holding, her admiration for Dominic only growing stronger. Facing him, awe in her eyes, she said "Thank you, Dominic. You handled that amazingly." He shrugged. "Sometimes , people like that need a little reminder to respect boundaries. You deserve better treatment. As Dominic returns to Chloe's side, holding two fresh drinks, their connection becomes even more apparent. Chloe clinks her glass against Dominic's, a grateful smile tugging at her lips. She raised her glass, "To unexpected encounters and standing up for ourselves."" Dominic raised his glass, toasting along, "Cheers to that, Chloe. Here's to unforgettable nights." They took a sip, their eyes locked with mutual understanding and admiration. The nightclub continuedto pulse with energy, but Chloe and Dominic had found a moment of peace amidst the chaos. They delved into conversation, sharing stories, and discovering a connection that felt both exhilarating and comfortable. He seemed impressed she was so successful, at such a young age. He ran an importing business down at Brooklyn, fairly successful too by the looks of it. Chloe spent the entire night laughing harder and heartier than she had done in a while. He seemed pleased about it, a smile cracking his brooding face open whenever she laughed. By the time he suggested they left the club, it was already 1 am, she was drunk and apparently completely into this handsome stranger. * * * Dominic led her out of the club, his arms wrapped protectively around her waist. "How about we get out of here?" He asked, leading me into the parking lot. "Yeah sure." She said. It was completely out of character for her, but what the hell. She was here to blow of steam anyways. "Where do you have in mind?" "I don't think you understand." He said, stoping next to a sleek, black Mercedes AMG. She frowned, confused, "What do you mean?" "Go out," He said, "A cruise, vacation of some sorts, something." Chloe's jaw dropped, "Are you serious?" "Very." "Dominic, we just met, I don't even know anything about you?" "What?" He asked, stepping closer to her, a sly smile forming on his face, "You think I am a serial killer?" "This isn't funny, you could be." He chuckled, a deep, charming sound. "I promise you, I am not." "I-" He grabbed her by the waist, pulling her closer to him until their groins bumped against each other, "You talk too much." He whispered, before enveloping her lips in a kiss. Chloe was shocked for a moment, but soon leaned into it, her hands reaching around his neck to pull him in as his hands went around her waist. At that moment, nothing mattered, not work, not her social life, not anything. Just him, and this kiss. He pulled away, peering into her eyes. "So?" Chloe swallowed hard, her brain still scrambled. "I'll think about it."
