Chapter 1
Rylie shudder as she gazed down at the newspaper, now wrinkled from her tight gripped as tears started to fall over the words, 17 missing on private flight owned by Mr. Ember.
She slowly looked across the table, watching as the maids quickly looked to the ground, obviously shaken up by the news as well.
I cleared my throat and tried to keep my voice steady, “Bo..” my voice cracking as he reluctantly looked up from the other end of the table, “Yes, madam?” He answered mute of emotion though, his eye gave away the sorrow he felt for me.
“Have you heard from them..?” My voice shaking as I knew what his answer would be as he looked back down breaking eye contact with me.
I sighed before he could answer and got up from the table, grabbing the article with me and walking up to my room.
My door slammed behind me and a cold breeze caused me to shudder, almost confirming the grave news I just read.
Grabbing my phone from my bed, realizing I forgot to plug it in last night.
Dead.
‘Great, just like how I feel.’ I thought sarcastically as I plugged it in and grabbed a light sundress and headed into the shower.
As I was drying off I could hear my phone ringing, over and over again.
‘I should’ve left it off’ I thought glancing over to my vanity where the newspaper article laid.
I applied my lipgloss and left my face bear as I knew arrangements would be discussed later, adjusting the light pink sundress and letting my sun kissed blonde hair fall down my back.
A loud knock echoed through the hallway, causing my heart to skip a beat. I walked over to my door cracking it, trying to listen to what Bo was saying.
I heard foot steps come into the main Fourier and stop as bo announce “I will go and get the madam of the house.” And scurried towards the steps. I quietly shut my door, my heart pounding.
‘Who wants to see me right now... I haven’t even processed everything’ I thought with panic as bo sturdy knock on my door sounded three times, I jumped at the sound even though I was waiting for it.
“One moment!” I yelled out as I flatten out my dress for the thousandth time.
I open my door to find bo looking a bit nervous, “ry...” he started, sounding somber, I knew he was trying to comfort me when he didn’t address me officially, making my heart clench in pain, “Sir Oliver Nathaniel Kowi is here to speak with you” he stepped aside allowing me to walk past him, I peered over the railing at Oliver, his dark olive complexion complimented by his Carmel eyes and sharp jawline, staring back at me as a small smile appeared on the corner of his lips.
