Chapter 4: the party

Blake POV:

Today wasn’t bad I had fun, but I would really have loved to meet my mate. I’ll meet her tonight at my party. I thought to myself as I got out of my car and headed into my house. I went straight to my room. I laid on my bed looking at the time. It was 15:00, just 3 more hours then I’ll meet her. I hope she’s a beautiful strong she-wolf, she has to at least be a Bata. I won’t settle for an omega, they’re too weak and can’t protect themselves. I want my mate to be strong. My thought process got interrupted when my brother Max, opened my door.

(M is for Max, B is for Blake)

M: “How was your birthday?”

B: “Good, it’ll be even better when I meet my mate tonight.”

M: “Who do you think it’ll be?”

B: “I don’t know, I just hope it’s not Abbie.” Max just laughed.

M: “I know it’s early, but you need to see this.” He pulled out a small black box with a red ribbon around it. My eyes widened as I asked, “Are you going to ask Gwen to merry you?”

“Yes, I was planning on doing it this weekend.” He said smiling. He put the box away and looked at me, before walking out. “I’m very happy for you man.” I said. I laid back and fell asleep.

I was running through the woods. The sent of wet grass was everywhere, as it had rained only a few hours ago. I stopped near the river, the water was sparkling as the rays of sunshine hit the water through the leaves of the trees. I stopped to drink some water, when I looked up I saw a girl standing on the other side of the river, she has brown hair. I couldn’t see her face because her back was facing me. I felt a bond with her, I would do anything for her, be anything for her. I would give up my life to protect her. I knew she was my mate, because only a mating bond would make you feel that way.  I woke up just as she was about to turn around. I looked at my watch and saw that it was 17:00, one hour to the party my wolf was ecstatic about finding his mate. I went and took a shower and got dressed. I made my way downstairs. I saw my bata Martin waiting for me. “It’s almost time.” Martin said as we sat at the kitchen counter and waited for the guest to start arriving.

*ONE HOUR LATER*

The first of the guest started to arrive. Abbie arrived in a red and black strapless dress, with black pumps. She immediately approached me and kissed me. “I can’t wait till you announce to everybody that I’m your mate.” she said with a big smile. “Abbie you’re not my mate.” I said in a harsh tone. “Ofcorce I am, silly.” She said and put her arms around me. I rolled my eyes, knowing it’s pointless to argue with someone who has a pea sized brain. ”Abbie, you look so beautiful.” Kaylee said, one of Abbie’s friends. “Thank you so do you. Did you hear I’m the new Luna?” She said gripping my arm tight. “That’s wonderful.” Kaylee said laughing. “I’ll be right back.” I said to Abbie as I left her and Kaylee to continue their chat. I walked over to Max and Martin who were talking in the kitchen. “She’s not here.” I said with an annoyed voice. “It’s still early, maybe she’ll still come.” Martin tried to reassure me. “Abbie is telling everyone she’s the new Luna.” I said as I rolled my eyes. “Everyone knows Abbie is a lair. I wouldn’t worry myself about it.” Martin said. “Let’s get the fire started. It’ll take your mind off your mate for a while.” Max said as he got the meat out of the fridge. We went outside. There were so many people they poured out of the house into the back yard. Some people were swimming and others were drinking. We made the fire and started to make the food. A few hours past and there was still no sign of my mate. My wolf was starting to get irritated. ‘She’s not coming. Where is our mate?’ He asked in an annoyed tone. ’I don’t know, maybe she’s not here. If we don’t meet her tonight remember we still have the pack braai tomorrow afternoon.’ I said to him. ‘I want our mate now.’ He said. I could feel my wolf trying to gain controle of my body to go and search for our mate. “I need to go for a run, my wolf wants out to search for our mate.” I told my brother and Martin. “I’ll come with you.” Martin said.

*The next day*

I woke up the next morning in my bed. I got up and took a shower flashes of the previous night playing out in front of me. I remembered going out with Martin and walking through the woods then there was a sound from behind us. When we turned around we saw a big brown wolf with blue eyes. He walked up to us and stood ready to attack we transformed and snarled at him showing our canines, he snarled back at us. His teeth were big and pearly white. His eyes seemed to be focused on one thing and that was the kill he wanted to make. He started to circle growling and snarling.

He jumped up in the air and slashed at Martin with his sharp claws. His claws dug into Martin’s flesh and blood ran over his brown fur. Martin fell to the ground and the rouge slashed open his chest, blood spewed out and hit the ground. Martin howled in pain, I everything happed so fast I didn’t have time to help. I ran over to the rouge and grabbed him by the neck. I bit down and kept my hold till the body stopped moving and I dropped his dead body on the ground. I picked up Martin and ran with him to the packhouse I linked the pack doctor ‘We need help we were attacked by a rouge and Martin’s hurt badly.’ ‘Bring him in, I’ll be waiting for you.’ She said through the mind-link. I ran to the packhouse and dropped Martin off. I went into one of the exam rooms and changed back. I linked my brother to bring me clothes. I got dressed and waited in the hospital till the doctors arrived and gave me an update, “He’s stable for now Alpha. I think it’s best to go home and we’ll keep you updated on his condition.” The doctor said.  “Thank you.” I said as I left the hospital with my brother. “He’ll be okay Blake.” My brother said as we arrived at home. I nodded and went to bed.
