CHAPTER 15

1325 Words
The mansion appeared to be far too quiet today. Troy spends his weekends playing badminton in their mini sports center, while Tabitha does her weekend vlogging thing in the garden. He suddenly felt lonely, and he needed to spend time with his siblings today for some reason. "Where are my brother and sister?" Terrence asked one of their housekeepers as he strolled around the mansion looking for them. "Ms. Tabitha went to her friend’s house, and Sir Troy left the mansion at eight o’clock last night. "He hasn’t returned yet." Terrence felt disappointed and sad. But then he thought of a nice idea. When they’re both back, tell them to go to the villa. I’ll be waiting for them there, "he ordered. The maid nodded, bowed, and walked away. Terrence returned to his room and packed up some stuff he’d be needing for the weekend, loaded it on the car, and drove to the villa using his Land Rover. He wanted to do some off-road riding to ease his tension after all he had been through this week. It was a long drive, but it was what he needed. He wanted to get off his mind from all his mafia boss's responsibilities. For once, he wanted to feel free and normal. He opened the window of his car so he could feel the fresh air. It had been ages since he felt this sense of tranquility. On his way to the villa, he passed by a familiar place and couldn’t help but reminisce about it. Before their mother passed away, they always went to the villa on weekends despite their father’s busy schedule. Terrence was just seven years old, Troy was five, and Tabitha was just in their mother’s womb. Terrence could still clearly recall everything. "Mom? Are we going to the villa again? " Terrence asked as he excitedly loaded his bag and some toys into the back of the van. "Yes, honey. We’ll stay there this weekend. Barbeque party again? " She cheerfully said and patted Terrence on the head. Yay! " I’m so excited! Daddy, let's roast a lot of hotdogs and make a bonfire again! " Terrence giddily yelled, to which his father responded, "Of course, anything you and Troy. Is everything ready?" Daddy, let's go! As their mother fastened their seatbelts, Troy and Terrence both exclaimed. She then moved next to her hubby. "Travis, please be cautious, love." Her voice was as calm and lovely as the morning. She has a contagious grin that makes everyone's heart flutter. The entire family starts singing a nursery rhyme, led by Terrence. He was clapping and shouting while Troy struggled to sing the correct lyrics, but he knew the tune. "Hey, Tabitha kicked. She wanted to join in the fun, "Lara, their mother, announced. Harriet used her right hand to feel her wife’s tummy. He felt a strong kick as he placed his palm on top. She’s about to give birth the following month. What a strong lady! Hang in there, princess. You’re about to see the most beautiful woman in the world. " Lara looked at Harriett dreamily. I’m so lucky to have you in my life, Travis. Thank you for everything. " Lara held her husband’s hand and gazed at Terrence and Troy, who were busy fighting for the last piece of a cookie. She couldn’t ask for anything else in this world because she’s blessed with a loving husband and healthy children. Travis looked in his wife’s direction. She seemed to be enjoying the morning breeze as she moved closer to the open window. He quickly returned his gaze to the road. It's a good thing he was able to avoid a collision with another car. Terrence saw the ocean and thought it would be nice to stop and take a picture there. Travis was about to park on the side of the road when the brakes malfunctioned. He couldn’t control the car anymore. Terrence was throwing a tantrum about wanting to take a picture there, but Travis started to feel nervous. He kept on stepping on the brake paddle but couldn’t make the car stop. Lara felt the tension on her husband’s face. What’s wrong, love? You look scared. Is everything alright?" He was about to respond when their car bumped into another car and fled a few meters away. Terrence remembered the pain he felt when shards of glass went into his skin and his head bumped into something hard before he lost consciousness. When they all woke up, they were in the hospital. All of them survived the crash, except for their mom. She was able to give birth to Tabitha, but died soon after. Terrence didn’t notice a teardrop escaping from his eyes. He parked the car on the side of the road near the accident site when he couldn’t control his tears anymore. These are the times when Terrence feels like a normal person again. He is consumed by his role as a mob boss. He sometimes wishes he wasn't who he is today. Those few moments he shared with his family are one of the things he remembers whenever he feels horrible about himself. He fished his phone out of his pocket and dialed Troy’s number. He couldn’t reach him, so he just left a message. "Hey bro, go to the villa once you receive this message." After recording a voicemail, he dropped the call to contact Tabitha next. Just a few rings, and Tabitha answered it. "Hey Tabby, I’m going to the villa today. Contact Troy and follow me there, "Terrence said. His voice was crying. He’s trying hard to stop himself from sobbing. "Brother? Are you crying? Where are you? " Tabitha immediately asked when she noticed it. "N-No. It’s the bad reception. I’m in the middle of nowhere, "he lied." Anyway, I’m sorry, I don’t think I can make it. We’re having a slumber party. Next time, bro." She responded, which made Terrence sad. Although he was disappointed, he tried to sound cheerful. “Oh, that’s okay. Have fun with your friends!" "Thanks! Take good care of it.Take it easy with your mafia thing," Tabitha jokingly responded. Terrence just chuckled a bit and ended the call. He regrets not spending enough time with his siblings after acquiring the position. Now that they’re all grown up, it’s hard for them to sit down for a meal together. In the midst of reflecting on his family, he suddenly remembered the mysterious woman he had met. An epiphany struck him at the last second. He needed another encounter with that woman. In this situation, it's strange to think about a woman. Maybe he thought he needed someone to fill the emptiness in his heart because of the sudden loneliness he was feeling. He called Cody for a special task. "Cody, help me find a woman." Cody and Terrence went to the white mansion where he took the mysterious woman. They asked the security for any CCTV footage so they could obtain any pictures of her, then they returned to the headquarters. “Boss T, who’s this chick? She looks unusual,” Cody commented as he tried to do a face search. “Anyway, the image is too blurry. It’s hard to do a face search. Do you know her name?” Terrence forgot to mention it. “N-No. I don’t,” he sheepishly replied. Cody thought Terrence was acting strangely. He’s kind of confused. “How come you didn’t ask for her name?!” Cody blurted out, which earned him a deadly gaze from Terrence. “I pay you to work not to ask questions!” he scowled. They spent the entire day searching for her, but they couldn't find her. Terrence retired to his bed, contemplating how he would be able to track her down. He threw himself on the bed in frustration, but he couldn't sleep for the rest of the night.
