Delilah's POV After 20 minutes, I saw him walk through the door and my fear set it. I sat up straight and put on a stoic face. He sat in front of me, his eyes black. “Liah.” He said, stiffly. “I want you to listen to me.” I said, swallowing back a lump that had formed in my throat. “I’m willing to make you a deal. Me, for the end of the war.” He looked up at me, and a dark smile spread across his face, “You think you’re worth a war? You were an experiment. You mean nothing to me.” “I know that you weren’t done experimenting. I am willing to go back and let you do whatever you want. No complaining. No screaming. I’ll keep my wolf at bay.” I said, my voice hardening. “You just have to call off the attacks and let me say goodbye and I’m back to being your experiment.” “If I agree to this, you won’t say good-bye. You will come back with me tonight.” “If I leave without saying something, they will come for you. They’ll kill you.” “Do not underestimate me, Liah. We have a new facility being set up away from Abram or Jacob’s packs.” He gave a hard laugh. I nodded, “Call off the attack.” “ Then we are safe at the facility. Let’s go.” He stood up. I thought about what I was doing. If I gave myself to him, I would die. Athena warned me she would kill us both. I had a flash in my head, my family was bloody, the light in their eyes fading. I shook it off and held my head up high. I followed him to his SUV, as he pulled out silver handcuffs. I pretended to groan at the sting, and he put a blindfold over my eyes. Since silver is supposed to hurt werewolves, I had to keep up the appearance. He shoved me in the back and sped off. We drove for over 3 hours, me counting each minute. I mapped every twist and turn. When we finally stopped, I was yanked out and I took a deep breath, trying to take in all the scents. We were near water and I smelled pine sap. I also smelled about 300 rogues. We were in a forest, the water probably a lake or river. I listened and I heard a large animal about a mile away. I sniffed again, and it was a deer. I heard rabbits and birds, but what I was listening for was a dam. I had studied a map of the state and I knew from the drive that we hadn’t left Michigan yet. We were probably just on the edge of the state. I listened a little harder and I heard it. The dam. I knew exactly where we were. I smiled internally just as I was being pulled inside. Once inside, Dylan walked me to a room and removed the blind fold. I looked around and it was bigger than the old one. There was a twin-sized bed. A TV nestled in one corner and a large stack of books in another. A pole hung above the books and all the clothes I had bought for school were there. “We begin in the morning.” Dylan said, turning to close the door. “Call off the attack.” I stated, “Call off the attack or I let Athena out. You know what happened last time.” “I’m not afraid of your wolf, pup.” He chuckled. He closed and locked the door. I went to lay on the bed and smiled at myself. I took a deep breath and tried to relax my body. I focused on Deacon’s face, the way his arms felt around me, his scent. I heard his voice in my head after a few moments. Liah, where are you? I went to the room and you were gone! I went to Dylan. YOU DID WHAT?! How could you do that? Are you insane? Where are you? I could feel him start pacing. Deacon, I’m fine. I know you aren’t going to like this, but I couldn’t live with myself if something happened to our pack. Or anyone else’s. I wanted to help. So I made Dylan an offer he couldn’t refuse. I told him I would come with him. Liah, why would you do that? We have the numbers. He isn’t going to call off the attack. I know that. What he doesn’t know is that I tracked our trip. I know exactly where we are. How did you manage to do that? Photographic memory. I memorized one of the maps during history. I said, smiling. I recounted my trip through the bond, and I could feel Deacon’s pride. I shut the link off and allowed sleep to overcome me. I knew that I would be back in his arms again soon.
