Creating Sanctana

MADDISON

It has been 2 weeks since the start of this, we have made a Barricade around a 10 block radius there are now 145 of us. Carly and I are going to the hospital today to gather supplies, there are 5 men with us to help we have rerouted the water systems and the electricity where it won't shut off we check the water for contaminates everyday.

Carly: " We should go to the pharmacy first"

I nod and we head to the pharmacy, we snap the locks and get rid of all the straggling Canni's then the guys start loading everything I grab Carly's hand.

" I want to check the nursery"

She nods and we head up to the natal floor. We kill the Canni's along the way and I was right there are 7 nurses on the floor 11 mother's and 14 babies.

The head nurse walks up to us

" They won't touch us if we have the babies you broke our Barricades"

I nod

" We have a safe haven if everyone here is able to move there is food water and places for all of you"

She smiles

" Thank goodness, we are almost out of food we have plenty of supplies for the babies."

I nod and we all start getting everyone packed up, these things won't hurt babies I guess that is a good sign they have some since of morality. There are 7 father's on the floor as well. I have introduced myself to everyone and they are all glad we are here to save them. The guys came over the walkies they are grabbing crash carts and all the supplies they can find throughout the hospital. After 7 hours of work we are loaded up, we take everyone to Sanctana( Daniel and Leah came up with the name).

I walk into my new apartment clean myself up and pick up Abi from her crib, Daniel and his wife have been watching her while I go out for supplies and survivors.

Joe has been manning the C.B. Radio and let's us know when people contact for help. I have been finding gas tankers around the city and we take them to the station parking them just in case we need them. We haven't even cleared the north of the city let alone the rest. We decided tomorrow we are sending 3 more teams along with ourselves to check the other hospitals.

Daniel: " You did good today, your dad would be proud of you and Leah"

I nod rocking Abi

" We haven't even put a dent in this place what happens if someone tries to take everything we have worked for?"

He sighs

" Maddi, you overthink so much things are crazy out there and yeah there are Canni's everywhere if it wasn't for you none of these people would be here. We got your 6 girl relax mess with our leader you mess with us."

Maggie Daniel's wife laughs

" I think the people here would kill for you more than their own families you were made for this."

Leah comes in from her shift at the community kitchen and hugs me.

" Mary and I made you guys plates"

She holds up a bag

" Thanks little sis I appreciate it"

She smiles

" Is it true what they said on the walkies you found survivors and babies?"

I nod

" We are right for some reason the Canni's won't harm them. Now we just need to figure out why."

Maggie: " Maybe they see their innocent"

I nod

" Maybe, but for right now we just need to get them all to safety"

They nod and take their leave I sit down with Abi and feed her then put her back in her crib and Leah and I watch a movie.

We started a coin program here in Sanctana everything in the store is 10 cents no matter what it is and everyone here gets the same pay. There are jobs assigned to every member and so far we all do our part. Breakfast and Dinner are served at the community kitchen that is really just a huge hibachi restaurant that we put to use and you are to buy your own food and supplies for lunch. We have one Convoy that goes out everyday for supplies and survivors. I go with them 3 times a week the rest I spend here in Sanctana helping everyone. We are slowly growing out boarders and even had a few billboards put up so people know they are approaching us.

Daniel told me that my dad would preach to all his soldiers about safety in numbers. We have 4 of his soldiers here now and I hope more to follow. He was a smart man just wish he never tried that damn burger.

Mikey comes in my apartment knocking on the door.

" Hey, can Dylan and I talk to you?"

I nod sleepily I just got up to fix Abi a bottle and get ready for the day. They sit on the couch

" What's up guys?"

Dylan turns to me

" You know Mikey and I have had this on off relationship for years right?"

" Um yeah why?"

She sighs

" Well turns out last time we decide to be on I forgot my birth control"

I smile

" So your pregnant?"

Mikey nods

" We don't know what to do, I mean no offense but this isn't a world to raise a baby."

I sit between them

" Your right it's not but look at this little girl, she is innocent and full of life. Raising a baby in this is going to be hard but we legitimately have a village."

Dylan nods

" You know other people would take Abigail you have so much on your plate"

I look at the 3 month old in my arms

" Maybe, but I want her having her let's me know there is hope in this messed up reality."

They nod and Mikey starts laughing

" This is the worst senior year f*****g possible."

I start laughing

" Maybe but now our lives are going to be completely different"

I finish feeding Abi and set her in her bouncer than get ready for the day.

When we get back we have successfully taken 4 more block radius for our little village and found 30 Survivors from the hospitals 3 of them being doctors and one a surgeon.

So far Building Sanctana has been a success I just hope it stays that way moving forward.
